Carastina

Parisian Luxury Lingerie Label Les Jupons De Tess (http://www.lesjuponsdetess.com) is taking the United States to a higher level of quality lingerie that previously was yet to be discovered beyond the borders of Paris. The 2011-2012 collection remains true to the four-year-old brand with its exceptional pieces, expressing the luxury and coquettish style of women in the 18th century with class and distinction. Created by master designer Caroline Tannous, Les Jupons De Tess boasts lustrous fabrics such as silk crepe and French “leavers” lace, as well as new additions such as revamped leopard print, and you know animal prints are cutting edge this fall. It is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know:
The styles available are: underwired bras, halter neck triangle bras, smocked cotton bra tops, camisoles, slip sets, thongs, briefs, shorts, full briefs, corsets, suspender belts, and "soft" basques.  Chosen as a “coup de cÅ“ur” label by Chantal Thomass and Christine Walter-Bonini, Director of the prestigious ESMOD fashion school, at the salon de la lingerie in January 2009, Les Jupons de Tess is clearly a very promising young label whose new collection we absolutely adore!

Carastina Trattoria is more than just a shining neighborhood star of cuisine and superb service, it is taking the whole city by storm and in its mere six months in business it is the place to beat on the far east side of Midtown Manhattan.  One day last summer Peachy was strolling by the place and was fascinated by its lovely decor (you will see every aspect is aesthetically pleasing!) and we found Carastina herself in opening the place that week.  Then we were fascinated by the takeout!  Carastina and her husband Gene are a winning team of restaurateurs that truly care about the highest quality everything, and are sincerely nice people as well.  If you haven't booked your reservation yet, don't waste a minute more!

& then Tasty Tidbits:
One ingredient you cannot miss at your Carastina visit is the Aragosta, which we believe is Italian for Lobster.  You absolutely cannot get enough of its fresh succulent flavor which is standout at Carastina, and Peachy Deegan began with the Insalata Di Aragosta: Chilled Maine Lobster, Summer Greens, Fennel, Avocado and Lemon Dill Cream: it was dressed perfectly.  Though it may be a summery dish with the winter we are having, thankfully it is ideal for February!  It was a total dream, and another aspect of Carastina that you should know is that when a dish is meant to be chilled it is served precisely that way and the same goes for hot: hot dishes are served hot.  The service at Carastina is impeccable and Pablo Buestan was on it all night, not missing a beat.
Carastina has had the same stellar menu all along and we tried a special- pappardelle with mascarpone cream and beluga caviar on top.  We vote to add it on the permanent menu. This was so impressive we might start asking for something by adding not "with a cherry on top please" but with "with beluga caviar by Carastina on top please"....creamy and delicious, if you ever dream of food, this is exactly the dish you should count your sheep to.  And then make it a reality the next day!  This makes every other pasta dish seem like it is in black and white in contrast to the technicolor flavor - it is elevated for your tastebuds!
The texture was amazing as well.
For her main course, Peachy selected the Branzino, which was complemented perfectly by the Vermentino La Palma Aragosta 2010.  Above you see it whole and below you see it filleted of course.  Joined by mixed greens and roasted potato, the Roasted Mediterranean Sea Bass was flaky fishy perfection and just as good as the best Branzinos we have tried.  The crowd was delightful as well and Peachy even made friends with Lily, one of its youngest patrons when she went towards the back room.
The night was complete with poached pears served with chocolate ice cream:
Pure deliciousness!
Our esteemed panelist raves:
Carastina is a new favorite in Midtown East. Located on 1st Avenue near 57th Street, this charming restaurant will have you coming back for more. As soon as I walked in the door I fell in love with the decor and atmosphere. The dining room is elegant, yet inviting. I could tell that a wonderful dinner lay ahead, and I was not proven wrong! I started off the meal with a fantastic appetizer of Burrata.

The mozzarella was so tender and fresh, and the cream inside was so delicious! Surrounding the cheese were sliced fresh red and yellow tomatoes and dollops of a balsamic glaze. It was to die for! After the appetizer, we were treated to a special that will hopefully make its way onto the menu permanently! It was homemade pappardelle with a mascarpone cream sauce topped with caviar. The sauce was rich and creamy, the pasta was cooked to perfection, and the caviar was an excellent way to top off this dish in a unique way. I've never had caviar on pasta before, but for this dish, it was a perfect idea.

For my main course, I tried the Aragosta Arrabbiata. This dish consisted of tagliolini, Maine lobster, and fresh, spicy tomato sauce. The lobster was like a taste of heaven, and it was so perfectly balanced by the spicy tomato sauce. It was a meal I will not soon forget! Finally for dessert, I was treated to the chocolate cheesecake. I love cheesecake, and I love chocolate, so this was the perfect dessert for me! The bottom layer of the cake was a rich, creamy cheesecake, and the top layer was mouth-watering chocolate. I could tell only the finest ingredients were used in making this dessert. It was truly amazing! Eating at Carastina was a real treat. The food was excellent, and the service was sublime! I am looking forward to my next visit!
