Whom You Know absolutely loves The York Grill.  We've formally reviewed over 130 restaurants now in Manhattan, Connecticut and Washington DC and you know we'd only spend a holiday at one if we thought it was truly fantastic!
York Grill was first featured in Terrific Takeout:
Then Peachy's Picks:
& we even went to their Lobster Clambake:
Owners Charlie and Tony are among the best at what they do;
Charlie is camera-shy but Tony is not:
Brothers Charlie and Tony Greco ensure that every time you go to The York Grill, you will have an amazing evening to remember between the top-notch American cuisine, the splendid service of Lance if you are lucky enough to have him as your waiter, the polished Upper East side atmosphere, and of course we're not going to forget to mention The Peachy Deegan cocktail because that is there too!  Be sure to say hi to friendly Michael Block at the bar when you go in because this is his version of Cheers we think!
Easter diners at The York Grill each began with a crispy Amuse Bouche-presented beautifully, this starter was filled with delectable vegetables that even the Easter Bunny would have envied.
Now that spring has arrived we could not resist the Rose by the glass that is fantastic at The York Grill-Nautique by Peconic Bay Winery in Long Island.  Fresh and with a polished finish, this Rose is refreshing without being too sweet and pairs nicely with most everything on their menu.
You know Peachy Deegan rarely meets a crabcake she doesn't love and has loved everything she has ordered at The York Grill, so to that end guess what she ordered for an appetizer!
Resting on a bed of york coleslaw, the Crispy Virginia Tidewater Crabcake was just gorgeous in and out, and of course ultimately consumed by Peachy so most attractive of all on her tastebuds!  The crab was fresh and moist and had premium consistency.  The spiced remoulade was also thick and ideal for dipping lump crab into, and we liked that it was not ridiculously spicy, which it can be at inferior venues.  Everything about this dish was total quality.
The entree list was amazing and extensive, but in the end, the Grilled Outerbanks Red Grouper won out over the Pan Seared Chatham Day Boat Cod and a myriad of other winning choices.  We totally love Grouper and often order it in Florida, but you don't need to leave the Upper East side to get a choice grouper we are pleased to say.  Served over a bed of roasted garlic mashed potatoes topped with a carchoffo (seared artichoke hearts, capers and diced Roma tomatoes) with lemon butter sauce, this triumphant combination is even better what you would have found in your Easter basket.

All three times we have formally reviewed The York Grill, we have worked with Lance.  He is one of the best waiters in the city we have encountered, and his upbeat attitude, friendly personality and ability to be on top of everything at all times impresses us.  The poached pear sounded remarkable but so did the raspberry sorbet...and Lance was pleased to bring a dish that showed the best of both worlds:
The dessert was to die for and overall we don't think you'll find anything at York Grill that you don't love.
Our esteemed panelist says:
Dinner at York Grill was the perfect way to cap off this beautiful Easter Sunday. From the moment we stepped inside this classy, yet cozy, neighborhood restaurant, we were warmly greeted by Charlie, the owner of the restaurant, and the myriad staff who made us feel most welcome. On this evening, York was serving their four course Easter Sunday prix fixe dinner and my dining companion and I were eager to partake.

Guided by our gracious, affable and knowledgeable server, Lance, I picked out the York Organic Field Green Salad as appetizer and the Grilled Marinated Skirt Steak as entree. To start off the meal, we were served an Amuse Bouche consisting of a delectable vegetable dumpling on a bed of seaweed. It's a decidedly Asian influence but it's a light touch that complemented nicely with the field green salad appetizer. The salad came with a choice of 3 different cheeses and I opted for the goat cheese upon the recommendation of Lance. It was the perfect choice which balanced the lightness and sweetness of the sundried cherries and the brown sugar-sherry vinaigrette dressing.

 My skirt steak entree is billed as York's house specialty and upon my first bite, I can see why it's special. Ordered medium-rare, the steak arrived moist, tender, and pleasantly tangy and flavorful. Normally, skirt steak isn't my preferred cut of steak. Almost always, it's the default cut when I order a beef Mexican dish, and it's usually on the dry and tougher side, not outstanding in any way. However, the way it's marinated and served here at York, it's certainly elevated to a class of it's own and is a must-try! As delicious as the steak was, it's a huge portion and I knew I had to save some room for the dessert. Shown below, the chocolate mousse called out to me, and given the heavier steak dinner that I just had, I was so glad that it was on the light and airy side. I couldn't have done a rich and heavy dessert at that point. It had just the right touch of chocolate flavor but both the mousse and the whipped cream topping were like fine-spun air, it's certainly a guilt-free dessert.
It can't be emphasized enough that the service, decor, and most importantly, the food, are exceptional at York Grill. If Yorkville is your neighborhood, or if you happen to find yourself in this part of town, it's a must to stop by at this gem of a restaurant. I'd venture to say that it's worth going out of your way to come by for the York Grill dining experience!

Peachy Picks The York Grill again and again and this year, so did The Easter Bunny!
