Leaping Cats at Lime Rock: aguar to be presenting sponsor of Lime Rock Park Historic Festival 30

Lime Rock Park’s Historic Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary this Labor Day weekend, August 31 through September 3, 2012. The organizers are delighted to announce that Jaguar Cars, Inc., has agreed to repeat their 2011 role as presenting sponsor and will attend the event with examples of modern and historic Jaguars.

Jaguar will also make new models available for consumer ride-and-drive opportunities.

It is appropriate that Sir Stirling Moss, the legendary British racing driver who is the Honored Guest at this year’s festival, achieved many of his more noteworthy victories at the wheel of a Jaguar, including Mk V11s, XK 120s and of course C- and D-Types. Several examples of these iconic Jaguars will be on hand at the Festival.

More than 300 important vintage and historic cars will be racing on Saturday and Monday in 10 groups – including a 1966 to 1983-era Formula 1 race group, as organized by the Historic Grand Prix group – while the Sunday in the Park Concours (Sept. 2) hosts an array of magnificent automobiles in a concours d'elegance, with more than 200 entrants expected. In addition, some 400-plus special cars will be on hand as part of the concomitant Gathering of the Marques, a celebration of the car clubs which underpin the car collector avocation.

No other venue in the U.S. has three days of on-track vintage racing sandwiching a prestigious concours event all on the same property all on the same weekend.

Event Chairman Murray Smith said, "I am so pleased that Jaguar is returning to the Festival for a second year as presenting sponsor. With Sir Stirling at the event all weekend, and the magnificent field of Formula 1 cars which the Historic Grand Prix organizers will be bringing, this promises to be the best Festival yet, and certainly one of the best events of its kind in the country."
