Souverain 2010 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon Highly Recommended by Whom You Know

I adore a really good red wine. The 2010 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon by Souverain was new to me, but quickly moved up on my list of favorite wines. With grapes coming from three areas of the North Coast of California, this wine is sure to please any palate. With Winemaker, Ed Killian, doing what he does best, this wine is simply perfect. This Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful blend of deep fruitiness (black cherry, blackberry), chocolate, cloves and coffee. It is the Winemaker's suggestion to pair this wine with a "medium New York strip steak and sauteed mushrooms or a slice of moist Black Forest Cake". However, I was forced to enjoy it all on its own as I had neither of those delicious sounding suggestions in the house. I must say, this Cabernet Sauvignon was quite lovely all on its own. I highly recommend Souverain's Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a full-bodied, delightful red which is sure to make its way into the heart of any wine lover. I know I will be purchasing some more of this wine to keep on hand for birthday gifts, special occasions and those days when you just need a pick-me-up!
As a huge fan of California Cabernet, I was very excited to try the Souverain 2010 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon. Like most North Coast cabs, the nose is heavy on cherry and berry. As I swirled it around in my glass and took in the aroma, I also detected hints of spice and tobacco. The scent was so captivating, I couldn't wait to take a sip! On the palate, the fruit flavors were very forward, but they were enriched by dark chocolate and coffee undertones, along with that hint of spice I'd detected in the nose. The wine is oak-aged, which is part of what adds to the complexity of the flavor. The finish was soft, smooth, and satisfying. This would be an excellent wine to serve with red meat, although I paired mine with dark chocolate - which I think worked equally well! Overall, a highly enjoyable wine, and definitely one I'll be stocking up on for myself! Highly recommended by this panelist!
After a long day at work, nothing is better than a glass of wine. My new favorite wine to enjoy is the 2010 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon by Souverain Winery. With a hint of dark red cherries to start, this wine is a wonderful one to enjoy when looking for those rich dark berry flavors. The wine finishes off the palate with a chocolate flavor. These are two of my favorite things. The aroma of blackberries helps combine the flavors for a smooth, rich wine. Not only was I able to taste hints of cherries and chocolate, hints of dark roast coffee were present. I absolutely love dark roast coffee. While I typically turn to white wine because it's less acidic, this Cabernet Sauvignon was not what I was expecting. I was pleasantly surprised. This was less acidic than most reds I've tried. It paired very well with steak, as well as bite sized chocolates. I know when I have to go to dinner parties, this is the wine I will bring with me.
2010 North Coast Cabernet Sauvignon is a nice deep rich red that blows you away. Pop open a glass and check it out for yourself. Pour the deep red wine into your glass and watch it sparkle. You can smell the amazing deep richness of this Sauvignon. The smell of the deep ruby fruits just draw you into the glass. Once you take a sip you can taste the boldness of the wine. The fruit pops and along side of the dark hints of cloves and cardamom. How can you resist such an amazing wine? I sure cannot! I love matching this wine with a steak or even a decadent chocolate filled dessert. It is an irresistible glass of wine. Take my word for it it really is delicious down to the last drop!
I love tannins, and an oak barrel sends me into a state of wine bliss. The red Cabernet Sauvignon from Souverain is a lovely dry wine with a gorgeous robe.  Not too heavy, or forced, with a hint of its black cherry profile, the Cabernet Sauvignon leaves a sense of French wine on the palate. Maybe because of those fabulous oak barrels, or the judicious choosing of the grapes, the wine is heavenly. The blend is: Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Syrah, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. What a blend. For this season, now, and all lovers of a good red wine, the Cabernet Sauvignon might be your new best friend on the table. Barbecue, anyone? For meat eaters and vegetarians alike, with the fruity notes , blended with spice to produce the Souverain profile so characteristic of their time-honored traditions. Wild mushrooms, in a tart, with goat cheese, is just one suggestion from Souverain's list of pairings that might please. When Lee Stewart harvested his first crop in 1944, he began a tradition. Their 1960's Cabernet Sauvignon bottles were considered a proud fulfillment of the name Souverain. The winemaker in charge, Ed Killian, continues that tradition of producing outstanding wines that "represent the best of " the region. It's time to learn about California, and indulge in some "achievable" wines from Souverain.
