Guild Hall Summer Gala Celebrates Artist Eric Fischl Friday August 10 Honoring Estrellita and Daniel Brodsky With Joy Behar as Master of Ceremonies

Guild Hall’s Summer Gala will take place on Friday, August 10 from 6-11pm. The most anticipated evening of the summer will celebrate the artist Eric Fischl with an exclusive preview of his Beach Life exhibition that opens on August 11 and runs through October 14 in the museum. The Gala also honors philanthropists Estrellita and Daniel Brodsky. The Master of Ceremonies is comedian and talk show host Joy Behar. Guests will dance under the stars to the sounds of DJ Alexandra Richards, who is also a model and the daughter of Keith Richards.

The evening begins with cocktails at Guild Hall and a preview of the Fischl exhibition. Cocktails and dinner follow under a tent at an East Hampton Estate. Tickets start at $1,200 for Patron; $300 for Junior, and $100 for Junior Cocktails, call 631.324.0806. The Guild Hall Summer Gala is sponsored in part by Van Cleef & Arpels and Mary Boone Gallery.

There will be a live auction of art to benefit Guild Hall. The pieces may be viewed online and bids placed in advance beginning Monday July 30 on Paddle.com (www.paddle8.com/forgood/guildhall) and ending Friday, August 10th at noon, all bids will transfer to the live auction at the Gala. If one is not able to attend the live event, a representative from Guild Hall will facilitate proxy. Donating artists include Ai Weiwei Ross Bleckner, George Condo, Paul McCarthy, Malcolm Morley, and William Wegman.

Eric Fischl burst upon the art scene quickly gaining international status in the late 1970s and soon became associated with the American Neo- Expressionist art movement. The Beach Life exhibition demonstrates his mastery of conjuring form and light from paint to communicate the psychological bearing of his subjects, many of whom are the artist’s friends and appear in complex gatherings of couples, families, or groups relaxing and mingling on beaches in the Hamptons, St. Tropez and St. Barts.
