The Washington Winter Show: The Washington Antiques Show Announces Dates for the 2014 Washington Winter Show: January 9-14, 2014 and Highlights of the 2013 Show

The Washington Winters Show is pleased to announce that the 2014 charity antiques show will be held January 10-12 with the Preview Night Party, Thursday, January 9th, again at the Katzen Arts Center at American University in Washington, DC. Mark your calendars now!

The 2013 Washington Winter Show had the most foot traffic in the Show's history with more than 5,000 people attending during the Show's three-day run, January 11-13 at the Katzen Arts Center at American University in Washington, DC. In addition, the charity Show's Preview Night Party had more than 650 dealers and guests filling the three floors of the Center and both the Friday Luncheon Lecture and the Saturday Lecture were sold out! 

The 2013 Show's Preview Night Party was by catered by Susan Gage. Notables attending the party included the Diplomatic Honorary Chairs, the French Ambassador Francois Delattre and Mrs. Delattre; Dr. Neil Kerwin, president of American University, and Mrs. Kerwin; Mr. Michael Harreld, regional president, Greater Washington Area, PNC, and Mrs. Harreld; Mr. Peter Malachi, vice president, Communications, Hermès of Paris; Menehould de Bazelaire du Chatelle, director of Cultural Heritage, Hermès of Paris; The Honorable Mary Landrieu, US Senator, Louisiana; and Mrs. Jacqueline Mars, Mars Inc. 

More than 425 guests attended the Friday Lecture and Luncheon where Menehould de Bazelaire du Chatelle spoke on Chic Le Sport, a lecture about the equine history and influence of the Hermès museum collection on the fashions and scarves designed by Hermès. There was a waiting list for tickets to the Saturday Lecture with Davide Frei, the television co-host since 1990 of the Westminster Kennel Club. Mr. Frei regaled those present with photos, history, and stories of the famous canine event.

Show attendees shopped for antiques from 45 premier antiques dealers and viewed the Loan Exhibit, Sporting Pastimes: Art and Objects of Leisure, which included primarily items from the National Sporting Library and Museum in Middleburg, Virginia. The Loan Exhibit complemented the overall Show theme, The Thrill of the Chase: Antiques of the Sporting Life. The Presenting Sponsor of the 2013 Show was PNC. The Honorary Chair was Penny Chenery, owner of Secretariat, the noted Triple Crown winner.

The Show benefits three local charities: THEARC; St. John's Community Services; and Bishop T. Walker School for Boys. Receipts for the charities have not yet been tabulated. 

The Washington Winter Show was founded in December 2009 by the former Trustees of the Washington Antiques Show to raise funds for local charities that serve the needs of children and families in the Washington, DC metropolitan area by sponsoring an annual antiques and fine arts show.
