"The World's Greatest Wilderness" is Africa. For animal lovers, naturalists, and scientists, here is a trip through every corner of Africa at the push of a button. Narrated by David Attenborough, the BBC series takes us through burrows, across savannas, and environs inhabited by wild life we rarely see up close and personal. The photography is epic, the subject matter majestic, and BBC Earth is generous in this 3 disc set. It's called "Africa Eye to Eye with the Unknown", and you'll never see a warthog this close. Fish, fowl, predator and winsome animals co-habit in a system not all of us find comfortable. But perhaps thanks to all of those Tarzan movies of the 1940's, Africa is a friendly place, eager to invite visitors. Seduction through the four year production happened to cameramen and producers alike. You will feel the power of their vision, the exuberance of the environment and the cruel beauty that is this vast continent. Facts you've never heard (100 million lightning bolts hit the Congo every year), sights you've never seen (mating elephants, and battling giraffes), sounds that accompany the weeping musical score all form this rich offering. Cheer the hatchling terrapins across the sands (only 1 in a thousand lives beyond their first year). Marvel at the undersea cinematography. Add it to your visual library, for a geography, history and anthropological lesson for us all, thanks to the BBC.

I have always dreamed of going on an African safari. To see all of that exotic wildlife would be quite a thrill. Unfortunately, many miles and dollar signs stand between me and that dream. Put this in the DVD player and you can travel to every corner of the African continent. You will see things you would have never even dreamed existed! From gigantic elephants to towering giraffes and ferocious lions to balletic butterflies, you will be completely enthralled throughout this journey. Your living room will be transformed into the wilds of Africa, and you will love every minute of it!

I love to travel and I love animals, I am always enthrall with the exotic and unique landscapes of Africa. I was very excited to watch Africa, Eye to Eye with the Unknown. This beautiful three disc set will take you to the wild side and back. Each disc takes you closer than you've ever been to some of the worlds most fabulous landscapes and animals. Journey to the Savannah, Cape of Good Hope and beyond in beautifully shot footage. The fantastic cinematography makes you feel as if you are standing right in the action. You feel as though you could reach out touch the elephants. Each episodes promises to more exciting than the next and Naturalist David Attenborough does an wonderful job of narrating. This set is a great gift for nature lovers and animal lovers alike. When you are looking for an adventure look no further than the comforts of your own couch and watch Africa today.

I have always been intrigued by any kind of DVD documentaries that have to do with our planet and the awesome life we have occupying it. When I saw Africa: Eye to Eye with the Unknown, I knew this would be one I would love. I usually will watch these DVDs at home and then bring them into school and do something with them so my students can see them too. After watching it myself, I couldn't wait to bring it to school and see my students reactions. When I did, just watching them watch this made me smile. While we didn't watch it all, we did watch bits of the frogs and elephants. They loved it. They wanted to do research on both of these amazing creature. I loved how this DVD gave them the opportunity to see wildlife from another planet. I think this DVD should be a staple for every elementary classroom.
