Double Doctorate For Bonhams Consultant In Scotland

A rare event will shortly take place in Edinburgh on 27th and 28th June with the conferring of a double doctorate on James Holloway CBE, recently retired Director of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery.

Mr Holloway is soon receive a double Doctorate from both the University of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Napier University as Doctor honoris causa and Doctor of Arts respectively.

He is also a Consultant and Ambassador to Bonhams International Auctioneers and Valuers based in Queen Street, Edinburgh.

James commented “Through Bonhams I am delighted to maintain my links with the art world,I will bring with me my expertise of the Scottish and International Art market built up over 40 years at the National Galleries of Scotland”

Chris Brickley Head of the Picture Department of Bonhams Scotland said,” I am looking forward to working closely with Mr Holloway who I have known for a number of years and his reputation precedes him; we are delighted to have James as part of our team.

The Picture Department of Bonhams Scotland has an enviable reputation and the recent Scottish sale achieved £2million which included a number of important paintings by Scottish Colourists.
