It also is highly becoming on humans!
Oakland jewelry artist Mark Poulin has launched a new line of sterling silver jewelry featuring classic pearls, but these isn’t your ordinary pearl jewelry, and why would EXTRAORDINARY YOU, our reader, want to be ordinary bien sur.  They tell us it is a minimal and modern look with a nod to old school pearl necklaces, and we love this idea.  Mark Poulin has updated the perennial favorite with a dramatic shadow setting that contrasts beautifully with the iridescent white of the pearls. Mark Poulin pearl jewelry is perfect for the modern bride, or her bridesmaids. Pearls are also the birthstone for the month of June, which makes these pearl designs an excellent birthday gift for those with June birthdays.  And you don't need to get married to love it!

In either square or round shapes, half-drilled AAA grade white freshwater pearls are affixed to sterling posts that are securely soldered in his Oakland studio. The sterling silver pieces are based on Mark Poulin’s original wax carvings and hand-made in the USA. Each piece is patinated by hand with a rich, matte black background to show off the pearl. Pearl pieces are available as necklaces, rings, or earrings. Necklaces come on a delicate sterling silver cable chain with spring ring clasp, and earrings hang from sterling silver French ear wires. At under $100, Mark Poulin’s pearl jewelry is a luxurious gift that won’t break the bank. Available at markpoulin.com.

Mark Poulin loves drawing and creating cartoon characters. Starting as a ceramic artist, an earthquake led him to work with the less fragile medium of jewelry after a friend convinced him to take a class. He’s been known for his jewelry ever since, infused with a childlike sense of wonder and playfulness. Mark Poulin has since branched out into art prints, pewter charms, and magnetic jewelry with his MarmarSuperstar line and his Modern line includes elegant pearl and colorful vitreous enamel pieces with geometric and organic designs.
