Audio-Technica and Whom You Know Celebrate Their 50th Anniversary! Audio-Technica Expands Its QuietPoint® Noise-Cancelling Headphones Lineup With Debut of ATH-ANC29 Over-Ear and ATH-ANC33iS In-Ear/Communications Models. ATH-ANC33iS : QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones Are Highly Recommended by Whom You Know's Gotham Gadgets Panel!

Is there anything noisier than Manhattan? Maybe the Daytona 500. But unless you are at a racetrack or a venue that radiates many decibels, we believe we may live in the noisiest place around and that is on the list of what we do not like about Manhattan.  When we review restaurants we specifically ask for a quiet place as we really value hearing ourselves think.  We really don't want to hear a lot of what we can be exposed to especially when others are not following Etiquette from Connecticut.  To that end, we were delighted to try the
ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones by Audio-Technica.  The performance of this gadget was superlative and it made everyone from Frank Sinatra to Derek Dempsey sound better.   They are extremely easy to use and offer different size earbuds to fit in your ears as all ears are not the same, which we are glad this brand recognizes.  The voice pickup by the microphone is brilliant.  There is quality of engineering employed here and we are thrilled to continue our coverage of this great brand that has impressed us in the past.  We simply adore the
noise-cancelling wave that is 180° out of phase with the ambient noise that functions as a noise eraser.  Now if we just had a similar eraser for other noisy areas of life...

I recently had the opportunity to put these headphones to the test in a variety of very noisy situations. The first was relaxing poolside with a bunch of boisterous kids about 8 feet away, and second was in an airport and on a flight sitting next to a travelling group of high schoolers. These earphones were fantastic, and did exactly what I needed them to do. The sound quality was beyond complaint. When trying out new headphones or speakers, there are a few different songs I play with a range of tones and details within the music. These handled everything perfectly. If you’re a music-lover, you need a pair of high-quality headphones, and these are a great option! They have wonderful, clear sound quality and block out a lot of noise even without the noise-cancellation turned on. I also really like that they’re smaller than most noise-cancelling headphones out there so you don’t need a huge case to carry them around in. They’re only slightly bigger than standard ear buds, but with the benefit of noise-cancellation. Another bonus is that different size ear buds are included, so you can customize the earphones to your ears. This way, your ears won’t be hurting from ones that are too big, but you can fit them to the right size for your ears to block out the noise.

I listen to music every day on my iPod during my commute to work. I am used to using the earbuds that Apple provides with its music player. For a change, I decided to try Audio-Technica's ATH-ANC33is QuietPoint Active Noise-Cancelling Headphones. I was completely blown away by their distinct superiority. I had no idea how wonderful my music actually sounded! I had been missing so much for so long. These headphones not only enhanced the sound quality of my music, but they almost completely blocked out the noisy sounds of the subway! I was able to listen to my music in peace, despite the hustle and bustle going on around me. I could not be happier with these new headphones, and I will never go back to the white earbuds again!

ATH-ANC33iS QuietPoint® Active Noise-Cancelling In-Ear Headphones reduce distracting background noise by up to 90% while offering the superior sound that makes Audio-Technica a world-leading pro audio company, and they are highly recommended by Whom You Know.

Engineered to create a comfortable listening environment in areas with high ambient noise, these in-ear headphones feature a miniature microphone in each earpiece that picks up ambient noise (such as traffic, air-handling systems, etc.). Electronics in the QuietPoint control module create a noise-cancelling wave that is 180° out of phase with the ambient noise. This wave acts like a noise eraser: it cancels out the annoying sounds that surround you without diminishing the audio you want to hear. The result…a peaceful enclave to enjoy the music or movies of your choice.

The ATH-ANC33iS in-ear headphones also feature an inline microphone and controller for answering calls and controlling music. The mic and controller support smartphones, iPhones, iPads, many iPods & other compatible devices. The microphone has an omnidirectional pickup pattern and it is designed for crisp intelligibility, so your voice will be clearly transmitted without having to speak directly into the mic.

Audio-Technica is marking “50 Years of Passionate Listening” with its yearlong 50th Anniversary celebration in 2012, including several limited edition commemorative products, special events and promotions for customers. From its early beginnings as a manufacturer of phonograph cartridges, Audio-Technica has expanded over the years to become a leading innovator in the design of microphones, wireless microphone systems, headphones, turntables, phono cartridges and more. Audio-Technica continues to advance the art and technology of electro-acoustic design with the manufacture of products for the consumer and professional audio markets. On this historic occasion, Audio-Technica is taking the opportunity to look back, with a view toward the future.

Audio-Technica was founded in 1962 by Hideo Matsushita, who introduced the company’s first phono cartridge that year. Audio-Technica soon gained a reputation for producing a range of high-quality, award-winning phono cartridges for some of Japan’s leading electronics companies, and expanded its facilities in 1963 and again in 1965 to its current address in Naruse, Machida, Tokyo. In 1969, Audio-Technica began distributing an expanded range of products internationally, and in 1972, Audio-Technica U.S., Inc. was established in Akron, Ohio, moving to its current location in Stow, Ohio, in 1980.

In the 1970s and 1980s, Audio-Technica broadened its lineup to include products such as its groundbreaking VM Series dual-magnet phono cartridges; its ATH Series high-fidelity headphones; its first professional microphones, the 800 Series; and other innovations. Of particular note was the launch of Audio-Technica’s compact UniPoint microphones, which changed the landscape of business presentations and other installed communications with their sleek profiles and high-fidelity audio. Audio-Technica also established divisions in Europe and Asia during this period.

In the 1990s, Audio-Technica continued to refine and diversify its product range, and its wireless microphone systems, microphones and consumer and professional headphones became industry standards for their exceptional performance, reliability and value.

Audio-Technica introduced the renowned 40 Series microphones, making the pristine sound of studio microphones affordable for the first time ever. Today, the 40 Series represents a benchmark in studio microphones for leading producers and engineers, as well as
high-profile artists in all genres of music, both in the studio and onstage. Additionally, in 1993, Hideo Matsushita took the position of Chairman, and Kazuo Matsushita became President of Audio-Technica Corporation, a position he still holds today.

Since the dawning of the new millennium, Audio-Technica has continued to introduce breakthrough products and systems. In 2008, the company’s noise-canceling in-ear and over-ear headphones set new standards in environmental noise reduction and sound quality.
Audio-Technica also revolutionized the audio industry with the introduction of its digital SpectraPulse® ultra wideband wireless microphone system. Other popular products include the company’s USB turntables, its Artist Elite series of performance microphones, its 2000 and 3000 Series Wireless Systems, and its Artist Elite Wireless Systems, the 4000 and 5000 Series.
Today, Audio-Technica is the first choice for a variety of major artists including Kenny Chesney, Gwen Stefani, Jason Aldean, Justin Timberlake, Metallica, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Newsboys, Selena Gomez and many more. Audio-Technica products are used worldwide in numerous consumer and professional applications including live concert tours, broadcast and recording studios, corporate, government and house-of-worship venues, and in high-profile events such as the presidential debates, the GRAMMY® Awards, CMA Awards and the Summer and Winter Games, to name a few.

“We are extremely proud to mark Audio-Technica’s 50th anniversary,” said Phil Cajka,
Audio-Technica U.S. President and CEO. “Throughout our history, our growth has been fueled by our customer-focused philosophy.
