MORE THAN 350 INTERNATIONAL COMPANIES FROM 55 COUNTRIES PARTICIPATE IN NY NOW DEBUT

More than 350 international companies, representing 55 countries from around the world, will be among 2,800+ exhibitors participating in the summer debut of NY NOW®, the Market for Home & Lifestyle (formerly NYIGF®). Most of these global suppliers will be grouped together in government-sponsored pavilions or organized groups throughout NY NOW’s product collections, with several others showcased in Artisan Resource™, a GLM tradeshow running concurrently with NY NOW, which connects international artisanal producers with U.S.-based volume importers, direct import retailers and wholesalers.

Pavilions and individual NY NOW exhibitors represent these 55 countries: Afghanistan, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Guatemala, Haiti, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Korea, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tunisia, Turkey, Uganda, United Kingdom, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

“NY NOW’s diversity of international suppliers is an important component of the fair’s position as the nation’s premiere home and lifestyle market,” said Christian Falkenberg, NY NOW director and GLM senior vice president. “With 55 countries represented, NY NOW’s global resources are broad and diverse.”

Three international pavilions will be located in the NY NOW LIFESTYLE collection: British Jewellery and Giftware Exports featuring 11 companies; Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH, Messe Stuttgart (from Germany) showcasing 12 suppliers; and the Israel Export Institute spotlighting six vendors.

In the NY NOW HOME collection, UBIFRANCE will return with 19 companies, and JETRO New York will showcase 24 Japanese companies. Within the juried Accent on Design®, two independently organized contingents, “Accent on Japan” and the British Design Group, each with four companies, will return to market, and SOURCE will participate for the first time with 17 design resources from South Africa.

Global suppliers of hand crafted products will participate in both sections of the NY NOW HANDMADE collection. Within Handmade® Designer Maker, Chambre Régionale de Métsers et de l’arlisanat IDF (from France) makes its New York market debut with 14 designers; Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH, Messe Stuttgart (from Germany) returns with 19 artisans; and designeyes/British Contemporary Crafts returns with 17 designer-makers. InHandmade® Global Design, the Ecuador Trade office will participate for the first time with three artisans, the Panama Pavilion will return with two companies, and the Israel Export Institute will return with one exhibitor.

The largest number of international groups at the New York market will be represented in Artisan Resource at New York’s Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94. These include: Artesanias de Colombia; Asociacion Guatemalteca de Exportadores (AGEXPORT); Cambodia High Value Silk; Cape Craft and Design Institute (from South Africa); Ecuador Trade Office; Hanoi Trade Promotion Centre (from Vietnam); Panama Pavilion; PROMPERU and PROMPERU HOME (from Peru); and Office National De L'artisanat Tunisien (ONAT) (from Tunisia).

NY NOW, the Market for Home & Lifestyle, will run Saturday, August 17, through Wednesday, August 21, 2013, at New York City’s Jacob K. Javits Convention Center and Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94. NY NOW’s four comprehensive collections – HOME, LIFESTYLE, HANDMADE and NEW! – will encompass 100,000 products in 400+ product categories. Running Sunday, August 18, through Tuesday, August 20, at Passenger Ship Terminal Pier 94, Artisan Resource is a semi-annual tradeshow which runs concurrently with NY NOW, offering a production-sourcing venue for overseas artisan enterprises to showcase their products and production capabilities – at export terms – from their country of origin.
