Whom You Know Highly Recommends the Selena by Lotus of England-On Trend Styling from Lotus for Autumn/Winter 2013! We Love to See the Latest Looks from the Oldest Brand in England! The Lotus Hit Parade Continues...

Fall Fashion is here, and one of the most exciting aspects of that is European footwear, and we've found a brand new to us that's the oldest in existence in England: Lotus.
Last week we kicked off coverage with the Sabelo:
That model was terrific for an on-the-go day with a lot of walking, but if you have a more centralized day, we love the Selena with this fabulous heel and even more fetching diagonal cross-strap.  You can never have too many black pumps when variance of style comes into play like this.  The heel is substantial enough that you're not going to worry if you're going through the cobblestones of Beacon Hill in Boston or Georgetown in Washington DC and we think they are downtown here perhaps on Bond Street, though you know who is much more the uptown one.  The heel is not too thick either - it is cut well and classy.  It is a court shoe...listen in to what they tell us as court shoe over here might mean a tennis court and this is clearly not that.
Selena
The Lotus ‘Selena’ court shoe is a firm favourite with Lotus wearers, resulting in it becoming a staple within the Lotus shoe collection!! Available in core colours, this fashionable leather court shoe with a diagonal fastening strap and 8cm stiletto heel is an easy to wear versatile style. So why not make it a staple within your wardrobe this season!
And for those of you like Peachy that don't know what 8cm is, it means just over 3 inches.  Again, Lotus has made her stand taller!
As the oldest British footwear brand in existence Lotus has an indisputable heritage that tells an insightful story, not only into the legacy of the brand but into the evolution of the footwear industry.
Times have certainly changed since handcrafted shoes were produced from the Bostock small family home-come-workshop in 1759, but 250 years on the Lotus ethos of offering footwear styles for men and women that are of exceptional quality and fit remains.

We know you love history as much as Peachy, especially when it comes to SHOE HISTORY.
We asked Lotus more about their history and found out they celebrated a milestone just 4 short years ago.  Remember, four years is only a puddle in a pool of excellence that has gone on since 1759....
They tell us:

Believed to be one of the oldest British footwear brands in existence, Lotus has undoubtedly a true heritage that is second to none. Celebrating its 250th anniversary in 2009, it’s no surprise that the Lotus archives contain an abundance of beguiling artefacts, ranging from advertisements dating back nearly 100 years to exquisite and perfectly crafted handmade shoes from the late nineteenth century; all of which tell an incredible story and echo the intriguing legacy of the brand.

Lotus has made a notable appearance within the footwear industry since it was established by the Bostock family in Heage, Derbyshire. High quality uppers were designed and hand crafted from the Bostock family home-come-workshop, from as early as 1759 by William Bostock. By 1814 Thomas Bostock, son of William, followed in his father’s footsteps and acquired the art and skill of a Cordwainer. So he set up his own small family business and moved the production to Stafford. The business was later joined by his three sons Edwin, Thomas and Frederick.

With the added support of the three siblings, the business continued to grow and demand for Bostock’s shoes exceeded the Staffordshire area. To meet the expanding needs of the business, travelling salesmen were appointed and each brother moved to towns associated with the shoe making industry. In 1835 Frederick took part of the business to Northampton.

By 1840 the business had grown further and the brothers created a partnership, duly naming the company after their father; Thomas Bostock & Sons.

During the first ten years of their partnership, machinery capabilities had revolutionised within the industry. The Great Exhibition at Crystal Palace in 1851 displayed machinery that nailed units to uppers. This radically encouraged a shift in employment, with a decline of home based outworkers and a move towards factory based work. With footwear manufacturing becoming more time efficient and increased demands from a growing population, business flourished for Bostock & Sons.

Six generations and over 200 years later, the successful Bostock family connection ended in 1970. Yet Lotus continued to grow and effectively established itself from Northampton.

A new chapter unfolded for Lotus in 2004, as the brand joined Jacobson Group’s stable of high profile brands. Lotus continues to produce high quality, footwear options and co-ordinating handbags that capture in-vogue designs, vivacious colourways and attention to detail that is second to none. Options include designs that are at the height of fashion and inevitably suit a wide variety of tastes, together with timeless options which encapsulate style, quality and elegance.

2009 was an exciting year for Lotus, as the brand celebrated its 250th anniversary and its incredible legacy.
