Bonhams Hong Kong is pleased to present “A Flawless Collection of Hearts and Arrows Diamonds” at its upcoming Jewellery and Jadeite Auction on 26th November 2014 at Bonhams Hong Kong Gallery, located at Suite 2001 in One Pacific Place, Admiralty.

This exceptionally rare collection of 16 D colour, Flawless, Internally Flawless brilliant-cut diamonds graduate in size from 1.16 carats to 4.49 carats and weighing a total of 39.98 carats. Perfectly matched in colour and clarity, the diamonds are also of Excellent Cut,Symmetry, and Polish (referred to as triple Ex) and most are type IIa. Only a tiny percentage of diamonds are D colour (the best) and Flawless or Internally Flawless clarity (the best) and less than 1% of the world’s diamonds are cut to hearts and arrows precision.

The exquisite collection of diamonds offered at the Bonhams Fine Jewellery and Jadeite sale is estimated to achieve between HK $17,500,000 to 19,800,000 (approximately GBP £1,435,000 to 1,625,000).

Graeme Thompson, Director of Jewellery for Bonhams Asia, comments: "We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring this magnificent collection of hearts and arrows diamonds to Hong Kong. As far as I know, only three similar collections of diamonds have been offered at auction worldwide in the past 7-10 years, so this is a chance not to be missed by all diamond buyers and collectors.”

He adds: “As a result of fast growing international demand, particularly in Asia, the average price of D colour and Internally Flawless diamonds has increased by approximately 155% in the past 10 years and we see no reason why this trend will change.”

The 16 diamonds were gradually collected over the years by an Asian private client in the hope that he would one day create a beautiful necklace for his beloved wife. The owner has since left the task to someone who will be able to succeed the dream, in order to focus on his philanthropic endeavors.

Hearts and Arrows in diamonds refer to the symmetrical light pattern resulting from precise cutting in a round diamond. Perfectly formed arrows can be seen when viewing through its crown and hearts when looking through its pavilion.

A 1 carat Flawless diamond will typically represent a rarity value of ten million to one. Rarity of these much sought after diamonds increases exponentially with size.
