New York City FC forward David Villa has been nominated for Major League Soccer Player of the Month for July.


The Club's captain had a superb July, scoring six goals (three braces) with one assist in four matches as New York City FC went 3-1-0. Villa, who had 16 shots (10 on goal) was named to MLS Team of the Week in Weeks 18, 19 and 21 and was nominated for MLS Goal of the Week in Weeks 19 and 21.

Villa was also named to the 2015 MLS All-Star Game. The 33-year-old started the match and scored the match winner as the MLS All Stars topped Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 on July 29 in Colorado.

Also nominated for this month's MLS accolade are: Ethan Finlay (Columbus Crew SC), Sebastian Giovinco (Toronto FC), Matt Hedges (FC Dallas) and Robbie Keane (Los Angeles).
