On January 27, 2016 GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) announced the nominees for the 27th Annual GLAAD Media Awards. PBS congratulates VICIOUS for its nomination in the Outstanding Comedy Series category. As their website states, “The GLAAD Media Awards recognize and honor media for their fair, accurate and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives.”

VICIOUS, Season 2 premiered on PBS on August 23, 2015, and followed Ian McKellen as Freddie and Derek Jacobi as Stuart as they embarked on a new season of humorous mishaps, hideous break-ups and heart-warming make-ups. Ahead of the new season, Ian McKellen and Derek Jacobi served as Grand Marshals of New York City’s 46th Annual Pride March, the largest gay pride parade in the United States.

PBS would also like to congratulate INDEPENDENT LENS "Kumu Hina" and "Limited Partnership" for their nominations in the Outstanding Documentary category and TO THE CONTRARY “Dividing the United Methodist Church” for their nomination in the Outstanding TV Journalism – Newsmagazine category.
