It's not who you know, it's Whom You Know and now we know brothers from Albania Vinnie and Mandrin Vuthaj, owners of Vinnie's Pizzeria at 1603 Second Avenue on Manhattan's Upper East side.  A great new spot uptown for quality pizza and more (downtown, we love Saluggi's!), Vinnie's opened January 26, 2016.  It's a great time of year to start a business because you know what began January 25, 2009.   Vinnie and Mandrin spent from October 2015 to January 2016 renovating this spot and it looks terrific and we liked how clean it was.  We began with a classic green salad that was fresh and everything you'd want it to be.  Mandrin is the Executive Chef, and he tells us he once worked for one of Sirio Maccioni's restaurants.
The meat lasagna, made with beef, is delicious and an excellent rendition of this wonderful comfort food.  Under Pasta, they also offer veggie lasagna if you are so inclined.  The cheese here was spectacular and we liked the ratio employed of pasta, sauce and cheese.
It insisted on a close-up:
They are working on their liquor license we believe but in the meantime, this Pomegranate Orange San Pellegrino is a hit!
And how's the pizza?
The pizza monster of Whom You Know craves pizza and we liked the fresh vegetables that we picked out, the sauce and what makes this pizza really stand out is the fact that the crust is so soft and amazing and chewy.  A lot of places really over do the crust and we hate when it gets overdone (just like french bread is horrible when it's overdone) and the fresh ingredients used throughout the pizza are evident in every bite.  You are going to want to eat this for breakfast, lunch and dinner and we did one day!
On our pizza we chose mushrooms, mixed onions and spinach.  We count over a dozen topping choices and we bet you'll love your pizza.  The chicken parm grinder is also convincing and the chicken parm itself combined with the cheese was standout.
Vinnie's Pizzeria is Terrific Takeout and we look forward to seeing what they do next.
Vinnie's Pizzeria is so new it does not yet have a website.
