CAPITALS COMPLETE COMBACK, EARN OVERTIME WIN IN GAME 1
Down 2-0 less than 10 minutes after the opening face-off, the Capitals scored three unanswered goals – including the overtime winner by Tom Wilson – to defeat the Maple Leafs in their series opener.
* Wilson, a native of Toronto, recorded his first career playoff goal (29 GP) and first career overtime goal (regular season and playoffs, 342 GP). Elias notes that he became the first player in Capitals history to score his first career playoff goal in overtime.
* Three-time Stanley Cup winner Justin Williams scored both Washington goals in regulation, his fourth career multi-goal performance in the postseason (128 GP) and first since April 28, 2014 vs. SJS (w/ LAK).
* Braden Holtby (35 SV) extended his franchise record with his 23rd career playoff victory. He owns a 1.87 goals-against average, .938 save percentage and four shutouts in 47 career playoff appearances.
RINNE SHUTS OUT BLACKHAWKS AS PREDATORS TAKE SERIES LEAD
Pekka Rinne stopped all 29 shots he faced and Viktor Arvidsson scored the lone goal to lift the Predators to a 1-0 win and series lead over the Blackhawks.
* The Predators earned their third all-time shutout in the postseason (71 GP) and first on the road. Rinne picked up his second career playoff shutout (49 GP), also May 2, 2012 vs. PHX (32 SV).
* Arvidsson, who set career highs in goals, assists and points during the regular season (31-30—61), notched his second career playoff goal – both of which have stood as game-winners (also May 9, 2016 vs. SJS).
DUCKS CONTINUE HOME SUCCESS AGAINST FLAMES
Ryan Getzlaf (1-1—2) and Jakob Silfverberg (1-1—2) each recorded multiple points as Anaheim overcame a 2-1 deficit to win Game 1 at Honda Center.
* The Ducks won their 28th consecutive home game against the Flames – including 25 in the regular season – dating back to their last loss in Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals on April 25, 2006. The victory extends the longest such streak against a single opponent in NHL history.
* Getzlaf opened the scoring with the 100th point of his playoff career. He ranks first in Ducks franchise history with 30-71—101 in 105 career playoff games.

Mitchell Marner scored 1:35 into his playoff debut, marking the fastest goal by a Maple Leafs player to begin his postseason career since Andy Blair also scored 1:35 into his debut on March 19, 1929 at DET . . . The Blackhawks suffered their first shutout at home during the postseason since April 23, 2012 (vs. PHX), snapping a streak of 37 straight games with at least one goal . . . The Golden Knights named Gerard Gallant the first head coach in team history . . . The Stars announced that Ken Hitchcock, who led the team to the Stanley Cup in 1999, has been hired as head coach.
