Discovery Communications To Create Shows For Facebook’s New Watch Platform — Shows from Iconic Discovery Properties and Exclusive New Content Will be Developed for the Facebook Community —

Discovery Communications announced today that it will develop premium mid-form shows for Watch, a new platform for shows on Facebook. Discovery will produce shows both inspired by leading Discovery Communications’ properties and created exclusively for Facebook.

The first Discovery show to launch on Watch is Animal Planet’s Celebrity Animal Encounters, which will be available next week. Investigation Discovery’s Still a Mystery and TLC’s Say Yes to the Dress Spinoff will launch on Watch this fall, followed by shows from additional Discovery networks.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with Facebook because the new Watch platform shares our commitment to engage passionate fans and create communities through video,” said Paul Guyardo, Chief Commercial Officer, Discovery Communications. “This is also another example of our commitment to delivering compelling, original content to superfans across all platforms.”

Facebook introduced Watch to a limited group of people in the U.S. recently. The platform is rolling out more broadly. Discovery Communications’ initial shows in Watch on Facebook Include:

Animal Planet
Celebrity Animal Encounters – Celebrities including Kristen Bell, Justin Hartley, Fabio and Danny Trejo share their personal encounters with loveable, crazy, shocking and outright hilarious animals. Whether it’s at home, on set or in the middle of nowhere, these are animated accounts of animal interactions told by the celebrities who lived to tell their stories. Produced by Asylum Entertainment. Five episodes.

Investigation Discovery (ID)
Still a Mystery – Suicide or murder? Runaway or kidnapping? Accidental or premeditated? Each episode of Still a Mystery re-examines a single crime where unanswered questions still remain. Through original interviews with law enforcement, family members and private investigators, and featuring news footage and social media activity, Still a Mystery dissects the evidence and presents new theories in a quest to uncover the truth. Five episodes.

TLC
Say Yes to the Dress Spinoff – On the latest extension of the Say Yes to the Dress franchise, TLC brings the next generation of Say Yes style to Facebook. In this original series, brides are surprised at designer trunk shows and treated to the ultimate bridal experience with expert help finding the perfect dress. Five episodes.
