BBC AMERICA announced today the acquisition of lauded documentary Bruce Springsteen: In His Own Words. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Nigel Cole, the 70-minute documentary, with limited interruptions, explores key moments in Bruce Springsteen’s life that provided the influence for some of his most acclaimed songs across his extensive career. Bruce Springsteen: In His Own Words premieres November 26th at 10/9c on BBC AMERICA.

Sarah Barnett, President of BBC AMERICA, commented, “This documentary is fully Bruce, in his own words, speaking directly to audiences. With limited interruptions, fans can fully immerse themselves in this fantastic film, experiencing an intimate connection with a remarkable storyteller.”

Throughout the documentary, Bruce will explore his early years growing up in Freehold, New Jersey, recounting the seminal moments that fuelled his relentless drive to become a musician, his years as a bar band king in Asbury Park, the rise of the E Street Band and his eventual ascendancy to the top of Rock’s hierarchy.

Bruce’s conversation will be supported by rare and previously unseen archive of Bruce at various stages throughout his life, provided in consultation with the Grammy and Emmy award-winning filmmaker Thom Zimny, who has collaborated with Bruce for the past 18 years.

The Lonesome Pine Productions film was produced by Jon Landau, Barbara Carr, Lesley Douglas and Tracy Nurse. It was acquired by BBCA from BBC Worldwide. BBCW handles all international rights.
