Dreaming of DIOR
A Conversation with Marie-France Pochna and Matthew Yokobosky

Christian Dior remains one of the most renowned and influential fashion designers of the 20th century. Join us for an inside look at the visionary couturier by Marie-France Pochna, author of the recently published Christion Dior: Destiny - The Authorized Biography, and Matthew Yokobosky, Senior Curator of Fashion and Material Culture at Brooklyn Museum. Yokobosky collaborated on the Brooklyn Museum's celebrated current exhibition Christian Dior: Designer of Dreams. The talk will be followed by a Q&A and book signing.

This is the perfect way to get a taste of FIAF’s fully immersive French courses and experience the innovative HyFlex format firsthand. HyFlex gives adults and kids ages 7+ the flexibility to attend class in person at FIAF or online on Zoom.

Adults enjoy 45-minute French lessons at 5:30pm and 6:30pm inspired by themes like Shopping on the Champs Elysées, Dreaming of Your Next Trip to France, Culinary Adventures in French, and Flirting in French.

Children (ages 1–17) enjoy 30-minute fun activities in French during the day, all inspired by the theme “Discover France!”

Start the new year with a good laugh! The delightful new French and Francophone comedies featured in this series remind us that what really matters is not what happens around us, but how we respond to life’s misadventures. And everything is always better with a good dose of humor!

The series kicks off on Tue, Jan 11 with A Brother’s Love and continues on Jan 18 with The Trouble With You and an exclusive sneak preview of Aline, the fake biopic and true love story of Céline Dion. Additional films in the series will be announced in early January.

New York Philharmonic Artist-in-Residence, countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo hosts an evening of song and conversation at FIAF. He is joined by Roots/Blues artist Paul Beaubrun, Haitian-American songstress Pauline Jean, singer/composer/producer Malika Zarra, and performers from the New York Philharmonic. Presented as part of Authentic Selves: The Beauty Within, Anthony Roth Costanzo's series of concerts and events with the Philharmonic this season.

FIAF's popular Animation First Festival returns this February for a special fifth edition featuring two distinct in-person and online programs.

The only festival dedicated to French animation in the US will present 50 premieres, a 2nd Annual Student Short Film Competition, and highly anticipated Works in Progress. Guest of Honor Florence Miailhe will open the festival with her award-winning feature The Crossing. A new partnership with The Met Museum will look at Disney’s influence on French animation, along with a 30th anniversary screening of Beauty and the Beast. Plus, there will be plenty of shorts, video game demonstrations, virtual reality and more.
