Sal Esposito and Il Cortile's Original Executive Chef, Donato Deserio who started with Il Cortile in 1974 when construction started and was the first chef in their history in 1975 when Il Cortile opened
Louis LaFauci Outside Manager of Il Cortile and Sal Esposito

These three guys have known each other for 55 years.
At Whom You Know, we are committed to the classics.  Whatever you are dining upon, you absolutely positively have to have a salad in our opinion and the tricolor of arugula, radicchio and endive is a winner!  Everyone knows Ms. Uberpicky likes the dressing on the side and Il Cortile listened.  However, Donato does recommend you have the salad dressed.
Below is the Rigatoni Vodka, referenced in the above #LittleItaly with #Sal and #Peachy. It's the classic with red sauce, shallots and bay leaf with just a hint of chili pepper heat.  Flambeed with vodka, this dish has no cream and it makes all the difference.
The Pizza Menu at Il Cortile starts now!
Pizza at Il Cortile is EXCLUSIVELY and only available in the Renaissance Room at Il Cortile.
They even got specific ovens from Italy to make this pizza.
Margherita
San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Homemade Mozzarella and Basil
Quattro Formaggi
Homemade Mozzarella, Gorgonzola, Parmigiano Reggiano, Fontina Cheese
Of course, we never edit pictures ever.
The truth is it does look this excellent and it tastes even better.
Quattro Satgioni
San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Homemade Mozzarella, Marinated Artichokes, Olives (both green and black), Sauteed Mushrooms and Prosciutto

Everyone loves pizza, but what sets the pizzas apart at Il Cortile is their elevated culinary expertise that obviously goes way beyond pizza.  They have been a Peachy's Pick Since 2013 and you can see all their features on Whom You Know below.
Il Cortile is different because they really care about their clientele and they listen to them.  Pizza has been a demand by the clientele and Owner of Il Cortile our pal Sal Esposito listened.
THE PIZZA MENU JUST STARTED!
It says La Festa at the top of the pizza menu and is in the Renaissance Room at Il Cortile.
We count eleven choices on the inaugural menu and the three we chose above we feel are most notable for the quality ingredients on top of each respectively.  Each was excellent in its own right: Margherita is a total classic and of course the building block and the standard of excellence in the world of pizza, the Quattro Formaggi is obviously adored by cheese aficionados everywhere and the Quattro Satgioni is going to make you raise a glass of Barolo and exclaim Cent'Anni or Cento Anne which means a hundred years because there are a hundred reasons to love this pizza and Il Cortile.  All pizzas are ten inch; in other posts on Whom You Know the standard large in Manhattan what we feature otherwise is sixteen inches so we would classify these as personal pizzas.  In addition to Donato and Louis pictured above we were also delighted to meet and work with Assistant Manager Ariel Benmoshe and Waiter Freddy Oroczo.
In the world according to Peachy Deegan, there are underrated Italian desserts and Zabaglione is a totally underrated dessert!  In our opinion it is the Ferrari of Custard.  It deserves more attention so it steps into our spotlight to greet you with fresh fruit-blueberries were seasonal the night we visited-and the creamy ecstasy will make your night a happy one at Il Cortile, sealing the dinner deal!  It makes a perfect conclusion with cappuccino.

Il Cortile continues to Earn Our Highest Recommendation.

New York Islanders maybe you can win the Stanley Cup next year for Sal?!

Get excited for Sal and Peachy's Hockey Looks in upcoming episodes when it is not 90F outside!
