In her debut novel, Michele Wood strikes an entertaining chord with readers who are looking for a fun beach read in PARK AVENUE FIRESALE. If you are a Manhattan insider, you will understand exactly what she means when she shows rather than tells it just how it is! And if you aren't, you will find the auras created fascinating.
Even when you've done everything right, your world can come tumbling down. From the Tom Wolfe-esque social x-ray type of women to all the usual suspects of ballroom venues, her book entertains. We will warn you, it is racy and is for adults or the quite precocious, and naturally Peachy Deegan liked that the fashion designer was named Lily but she spells it differently.
The character development is good and we like how they connect outside of their respective realms. However, we would have liked to have seen more commanding women in finance characters. Men included show how if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is! Some characters seem great but when their loony nature comes out....! Next, maybe for the characters involved. Take the right chances. Deception, manipulation and naive behavior will make you laugh.
Michele hits on all of the stereotypes successfully from penthouse to townhouse and everything inbetween. There's an Anthony Weiner-esque type incident and elements of the late Bernie Madoff haunt some pages. Elements of mystery make this a quick read.
"My life is perfect, she reminded herself...." (p. 35). But is it really? Take a look and pop this in your beach bag for a fantasy escape. And of course, look for happiness within yourself. Park Avenue Firesale is self-published.
