TRUE CRIME, the UK’s top destination for factual crime programming, part of the joint venture between AMC Networks International – UK and Paramount Global, is introducing a new season of original content this autumn with three premiere series and two returning favourites. The autumn line-up presents a wide spectrum of crime-focused investigations, from forensic breakthroughs and police procedure to psychological profiling and evolving investigative techniques.
Launching the season is “Body in the Water“, premiering on 16th September. Produced by Yeti TV, the series uncovers the complexities of murder cases in which the victim’s body is found in water – often far from the original crime scene. Whether used to stage an accident, destroy evidence, or serve as a deposition site, water makes processing a crime scene infinitely more difficult. From tidal movement to trace evidence loss, each case presents a forensic puzzle.
With insights from divers, forensic pathologists, tidal experts, criminal psychologists, episodes follow the first-hand accounts of detectives who followed the evidence to uncover the truth. Real-life cases include those of Barry Wallace, Evelyn Lund, and Scott Wilkinson – in which water obscured the crime, but investigators were undeterred. One of the key experts featured in the series is TRUE CRIME regular contributor Dr Richard Shepherd, a world-renowned forensic pathologist. The premiere coincides with the launch of his new stage show, Time of Death – More Unnatural Causes.
Next is “Murder: Point of Contact“, a powerful and unique new series examining the role of Family Liaison Officers (FLOs) in murder investigations – an area rarely explored as the sole focus of a TV series. Featuring the Stephen Lawrence case with first-hand accounts from Dr Neville Lawrence OBE and former DC Fiona Wright, who supported the Lawrence family as their FLO, the series shines a light on a role that bridges families and investigations.
The series explores landmark cases and reveals how the FLO role has become a cornerstone of modern policing following the Stephen Lawrence Inquiry, offering a nuanced view of how families and police navigate the aftermath of murder together. “Murder: Point of Contact” is produced by Phoenix and airs from 17th September.
Premiering on 5th October, the previously announced “Murder in Mind” is produced by Back2Back in partnership with FilmRise, a Radial Entertainment company, and Blue Ant Studios. Hosted by leading criminal psychologists Dr Julia Shaw and Kerry Daynes, the series digs into the mental and emotional forces that drive individuals to kill.
Blending expert analysis with archival material and case interviews, each episode dissects the internal and external factors that led to a murder, providing viewers with deeper context and understanding of criminal behaviour.
Returning this autumn on 18th September, is “Bloodline Detectives” (Season 6), the series that explores how Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy is unlocking unsolved murders. By tracing suspects through family DNA networks and advanced forensic databases, the series demonstrates how new science is rewriting the rules for cold case investigations. “Bloodline Detectives” was produced by Peninsula Television.
Also back is “Murder UK” (Season 2), hosted by Emeritus Professor David Wilson, one of the UK’s leading criminologists, and produced by FirstLookTV. This compelling series investigates British murder cases, combining expert analysis, in-depth reconstructions, and access to those closest to the case. Professor Wilson guides viewers through the facts, forensic findings, and investigative process behind each crime, offering unique insights drawn from his decades of academic and field experience. Each episode provides a fresh perspective on how justice was served in some of the country’s most disturbing and complex cases. The series includes the harrowing case of Andrew Innes, who murdered 25-year-old Bennylyn Burke and her daughter in Dundee, Scotland, after meeting the mother online, and revisits the chilling crimes of the UK’s most prolific serial killer, Dr. Harold Shipman. Season 2 of “Murder UK” premieres on 22nd September.
Sam Rowden, VP of Content, AMC Networks International – UK, said:
“This autumn, we’re launching a distinctive range of original series that explore both the personal and professional sides of criminal investigation, offering fresh and compelling perspectives on crime. Murder: Point of Contact provides a rare look at the emotional challenges faced by Family Liaison Officers, while Body in the Water examines the unique barriers presented by aquatic crime scenes. With Murder in Mind, we delve into the complex psychological elements alongside two leading forensic psychologists. Paired with the return of audience favourites like Murder UK and Bloodline Detectives, this line-up strengthens our commitment to delivering insightful, expertly produced true crime programming.”
All five original series will premiere on TRUE CRIME throughout Autumn 2025, with episodes available to stream on WATCH FREE UK following linear broadcast, and via TRUE CRIME UK on ITVX.
