"The imagery of a black sun, as described by Straight Into The Sun Vision, was inspired by my best friend from California, Peter. Peter has what's called low vision; he's legally blind, but in his case, he still has peripheral vision. His blind spot is right in the center, an ever present black sun outshining everything that's right in front of him."
Aging like a fine wine, Anthony Ferrara has polished off another winner and has not even reached the age of 30!
With four fabulous albums under his belt now and even proving to be multi-talented here on Straight Into the Sun Vision, Anthony shows his saxophone skills and composing magic again.
Now, Anthony Ferrara showcases his singing voice on two tracks.
Proving his higher evolution, he also uses the vox humana. If the dictionary had an entry for Saxophone Precociousness, you would see Anthony's face next to it.
Also on this album, meet the supporting band members for the first time: say enchante to Jesse Lynch, Carlo De Biaggio and Josh Farrell. They are of his generation and they don't miss a beat. The previous dream team rhythm section was amazing, and this new team for sure measures up and is just as phenomenal to accompany Anthony.
Straight Into the Sun Vision is more nuanced, more mature and shows your auditory function just why Anthony Ferrara is in it to win it with his genius musical skills going from excellent to the very best.
This album is brilliantly cohesive and demonstrative of Ferrara's ascending crescendo into saxophone excellence worldwide. Ten tracks melodically meld together into a beautiful album that again proves to be both concurrently original and ambient to brighten any space, personal or professional.
Four (Eddie Vinson) is a zippy, melodic opening that is a clearcut ear brightener that has been reinvented with Ferrara's composing prowess with beat separation that you must hear for yourself.
The second track, On Goddess Time, we found to be introspective at times and appreciated the speed as it evolved. The teasing nature of SPLAT, the third track, made it our favorite. It's unique ability to capture your senses and make you a fan of jazz even if you didn't think you were puts the fun in this album. Listen!
Candy is indeed refreshingly authentic as the jacket dictates, and it was our favorite of the two numbers Anthony Ferrara soothingly sings with class and style, and furthermore, it fits the piece. His flawless execution evidences his depth in the music realm and we look forward to more of this.
And Fireside Lounging isn't just for winter. It's apropos for the summertime too! You'll bask in the pleasant atmosphere it exudes throughout and this is a track that really sets the mood for making your day. Double 6s references dice and we're talking boxcars. Maybe a future song will be Snake Eyes or a Hard Six. In any event, it's double the pleasure as it calmly caresses your auditory elements and is a lullaby listen in parts of it.
Straight Into the Sun Vision, the title track of course, is lushly laudably luxurious and is the other number where Anthony sings. This album announces exactly how Ferrara has the talent to rearrange the classics, reimagining and reinventing something that's been done before, lifting it to new heights. His innovative, modern takes absolutely deserve your attention and Straight Into the Sun Vision will earn your accolades.

Straight Into the Sun Vision has a few standards, but with our own original arrangements. Four was written by Miles Davis, but the arrangement is original. Take the Coltrane was written by Duke Ellington, but Josh Farrell, the drummer for the group, wrote the arrangement for this one. Candy was written by Johnny Mercer, but our arrangement largely draws upon the Lee Morgan arrangement (famous trumpet player). I also sing the words for 'I Can't Believe That You're In Love With Me,' which is literally an identical chord progression and was written by Jimmy McHugh in 1926, predating Candy by about 20 years:
