#NHLPeachy @NHL Morning Skate – Nov. 4, 2026
* Facing a 4-0 deficit against the red-hot Canadiens and less than three minutes away from suffering a 10-game winless streak, Tyrel Bauer buried the Jets’ first of four tallies over a franchise record-setting 126-second span to force overtime where Dylan Samberg delivered the winner as Winnipeg completed the latest four-goal comeback victory in NHL history.
* Jason Robertson scored a natural hat trick in a span of just 5:20 while Cutter Gauthier recorded his second straight three-goal performance to bring the NHL’s hat trick total to 21 in 2026-27 – the second-highest total at this stage of a season in the past 30 years.
* Wednesday’s four-game slate features Matthew Tkachuk and the Panthers hosting Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks during the opener of an NHL on TNT doubleheader as well as Tage Thompson and the Sabres battling Tim Stützle and the Senators on NHL on Prime’s Wednesday Night Hockey.
Bauer helps Jets complete latest four-goal comeback win in NHL history
Tyrel Bauer (1-1—2) buried his first career goal to spoil Montreal’s shutout bid with 2:39 remaining in regulation and Winnipeg tallied three more times over the next 126 seconds to force overtime, where Dylan Samberg scored the winner as the Jets completed the latest four-goal comeback win in League history. Teams had an all-time record of 0-10,299-0 when facing a deficit of at least four goals entering the final three minutes of regulation before Tuesday (regular season & playoffs combined).
* Bauer became the eighth player in NHL history to score his first career tally during a four-goal comeback win after Artem Zub (Feb. 15, 2021), Shane Churla (March 12, 1988), Joe McDonnell (Jan. 19, 1985), Henry Boucha (Feb. 22, 1972), Dennis Kearns (Oct. 15, 1971), John Schella (Oct. 15, 1971) and Allan Johnson (Nov. 3, 1960). Bauer made his League debut this season after being named to Winnipeg’s opening-day roster and is the reigning winner of the Yanick Dupré Memorial Award as AHL Man of the Year.
* The Jets entered play with a 0-7-2 record in their last nine games – including a loss to the Canadiens during the 2026 Tim Hortons NHL Heritage Classic – and became the second team in League history with a four-goal comeback victory to snap a winless streak of nine-plus contests, following the Penguins (Oct. 27, 2005). That game saw Mario Lemieux forge the final five-point performance of his career as Pittsburgh halted a 0-4-5 skid by rallying past the Atlanta Thrashers, five seasons before the franchise relocated to Winnipeg.
ROBERTSON NETS NATURAL HAT TRICK, GAUTHIER HAS ANOTHER THREE-GOAL GAME
Jason Robertson (3-1—4) scored three straight goals in the opening 5:43 of the middle frame to record his seventh career hat trick – tied for the third most in Stars franchise history – while Cutter Gauthier (3-0—3) became the first Ducks skater to record consecutive hat tricks as well as the first player in NHL history to pot multiple power-play goals in three straight games.
* Robertson’s three goals came in a span of 5:20, marking the third-fastest hat trick in Stars franchise history, behind Tom McCarthy (5:15 on March 12, 1984) and Jamie Benn (5:17 on April 7, 2018).
* Gauthier (22 years, 288 days) became the youngest player to record back-to-back hat tricks since Robertson himself (22 years, 227 days on March 6, 2022). The only other player to achieve the feat at age 22 or younger in the past 30 years is Filip Forsberg (22 years, 194 days on Feb. 23, 2017).
* Gauthier joined Brady Tkachuk (Oct. 13 & 15) as the second player to score consecutive hat tricks this season. Only three other campaigns in the past 30 years have featured multiple back-to-back hat tricks: 2023-24 (Auston Matthews: Feb. 15-17, 2024 & Oct. 11-14, 2023), 2019-20 (Alex Ovechkin: Jan. 16-18, 2020 & Noel Acciari: Dec. 16-20, 2019) and 2000-01 (Pavel Bure: Feb. 10-14, 2001 & Alex Kovalev: Feb. 7-10, 2001).
* The 2026-27 campaign is just the fourth season in NHL history with at least seven natural hat tricks at this stage (246 GP), following 1985-86 (8), 1986-87 (7) and 1924-25 (7). The 21 hat tricks at this stage also represent the second most in the past 30 years behind 2023-24 (26).
DEVILS, LIGHTNING STAY HOT AT HOME
The Devils and Lightning both extended their home winning streaks, with the latter remaining as the only undefeated team as hosts this season.
* After Jack Hughes (2-1—3) helped establish a 3-1 Devils lead, the Oilers rallied in the third period to force extra time but Connor Hellebuyck prevailed in the shootout to lift New Jersey to a five-game home winning streak. Hellebuyck became the fourth goaltender in Devils franchise history to win each of his first three appearances with the team, following John Vanbiesbrouck (4 GP in 2000-01), Jonathan Bernier (3 GP in 2021-22) and Al Smith (3 GP in 1980-81).
* Nikita Kucherov assisted on both of Brayden Point’s goals in the first period as the latter climbed multiple franchise lists en route to Tampa Bay’s seventh straight win at Benchmark International Arena – the longest season-opening home winning streak in franchise history. Point passed Vincent Lecavalier for the second-most power-play goals (113) and fourth-most multi-goal games (47 GP) in Lightning history.
Coyle besting fellow “Ironman” Burns featured in #NHLStats: Live Updates
Tuesday’s edition of #NHLStats: Live Updates featured more notes from the 11-game slate. Some highlights include:
* Connor McDavid (0-1—1) became the fourth different player in NHL history to hit the 40-point mark in a season in 16 games or fewer (9-31—40 in 16 GP), joining Mario Lemieux (12 GP in 1995-96 & 1988-89; 14 GP in 1992-93), Wayne Gretzky (15 GP in 1984-85 & 1983-84) and Joe Malone (16 GP in 1917-18).
* Nick Schmaltz scored one of his team’s three goals – two of which came on the power play – to lift the Mammoth to their 10th victory of the season. Utah became the fourth team in the past decade to record 20 power-play goals in 16 games or fewer, joining the Devils (12 GP in 2023-24), Oilers (15 GP in 2021-22) and Canucks (16 GP in 2023-24).
* Charlie Coyle (2-2—4) collected a career high-tying four points to help Columbus earn a win in its final game against Colorado until Feb. 15, when Brent Burns could set the NHL record for lengthiest “Ironman” streak. Coyle, who has the League’s fifth longest active run (424 GP since Oct. 16, 2021) on the heels of his franchise record-setting streak with Minnesota (316 GP from Nov. 5, 2013 – Oct. 12, 2017), was traded to the Wild by the Sharks in the deal that saw Burns go to San Jose on June 24, 2011.
