Peter Lindberg and Dave Ogrean to Receive 2017 Lester Patrick Trophy Guests of Honor to be Celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 13, in Boston

The National Hockey League today announced Peter Lindberg and Dave Ogrean have been named the recipients of the 2017 Lester Patrick Trophy for outstanding service to hockey in the United States.

The annual award, one of the most prestigious in hockey, was presented to the National Hockey League by the New York Rangers in 1966. It honors the memory of Lester Patrick, who spent 50 years in hockey as a player, coach and general manager and was a pioneer in the sport’s development.

"The global stature of American hockey has been advanced immeasurably by the contributions of Peter Lindberg and Dave Ogrean," NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. "While I'm sure they feel it is rewarding enough that more Americans than ever are playing our sport, and succeeding across all disciplines and age groups, honoring Peter and Dave with the Lester Patrick Award provides recognition of their extraordinary efforts through decades of dedicated service."

Lindberg and Ogrean will be honored as part of the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Induction Celebration on Wednesday, Dec. 13, in Boston at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel. Ticket information is available at www.ushockeyhalloffame.com.

For decades Lindberg has called Minnesota – the State of Hockey™, his home. While working as a partner at a local law firm in Edina, Minnesota, Lindberg joined the Edina Hockey Association in the late 1960s as a coach. His passion and commitment quickly made him noticed as he was selected to the Edina Hockey Association board of directors, ultimately becoming affiliate president for the Minnesota Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA).

Lindberg was named president of MAHA in 1983, while also serving as a USA Hockey District Director for over 30 years. Following the end of his term as president of MAHA, Lindberg was appointed as USA Hockey’s first and only Legal Council Chairman, a position he held until his retirement in June 2014.

In addition to his long-term involvement with hockey in Minnesota and USA Hockey, Lindberg worked side-by-side with the United States Olympic Committee providing important legal protection for athletes. For over 25 years, as one of only 200 worldwide arbitrators, he served for the Court of Arbitration for Sport, the top legal tribunal for determining international sports disputes globally.

In June of 2014, through Lindberg’s dedication and selfless commitment, he was recognized by the Governor of Minnesota, Mark Dayton, for his 45 years of excellent service to Minnesota and USA Hockey. His accomplishments exceed far outside of hockey, as Lindberg served for over 25 years as the Fourth Judicial District Judge for the State of Minnesota, including three years as Chief Judge and, following retirement, one year as a judge on the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

For a combined 18 years, Dave Ogrean devotedly served as executive director of USA Hockey. During his two terms (1993-99; 2005-2017) Ogrean’s leadership significantly influenced growth and awareness of the game of hockey on a world-wide level.

Through his extensive years of service, American hockey has seen extraordinary success. U.S. teams captured 60 medals in major international competition, including 32 gold, 18 silver and 10 bronze. The U.S. became the first country ever in 2016-17 to win five gold medals in major International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) world championship play in a single season. During his first term as executive director, Ogrean and USA Hockey launched the National Team Development Program, which helped steam-roll success for Team USA, which attributed to greater numbers of U.S. born professionals in the NHL.

Ogrean’s tenure included tremendous growth overall, notably in the rise of women’s participation in the U.S. with an increase of 456% during his time as executive director. The USA Hockey Arena, in Plymouth, Michigan recently hosted the 2017 IIHF Women’s World Championship with the U.S. bringing home gold for the fourth straight time.

In 2009, under Ogrean’s watch, USA Hockey launched the American Development Model (ADM), which is USA Hockey’s age-appropriate training and competition model for associations nationwide and was later implemented into the programs of the U.S. Olympic Committee. Furthermore, creating an emphasis on hockey safety, Ogrean facilitated a partnership with the U.S. Olympic Committee to commit to their SafeSport initiative.

Both, Lindberg and Ogrean have left a meaningful and lasting imprint on the world of hockey and all those touched by their years of tireless service. In addition to honoring Lindberg and Ogrean with the Lester Patrick Trophy, Kevin Collins, Jack Parker, Ben Smith, Ron Wilson and Scott Young will be inducted into the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame on Wednesday, Dec. 13th. More information is available at www.ushockeyhalloffame.com

Wahlburgers Upper East Side New York, New York Inaugural Review - New You Got It Lyrics By Whom You Know's Peachy Deegan

[Peachy Deegan singing to you:]
The Our Burger is a Great One
O.F.D. has Bacon and Swiss
the Turkey

and the Haddock

you don't want to miss.
Boston kid cuisine puts you in the pink
Light Celtic green logo's great we think
Even the pinstriped New Yorkers will love your wicked awesome drinks.

You've got the Right Stuff, Wahlburgers
Love the way you taste so great
You've got the Right Stuff, Wahlburgers
Time your stomach made a date

(Peachy hands microphone to Upper East Side neighborhood)
[Upper East Side:]
All that we needed was you
In our 'hood
Flavors so good

[Everyone's stomach sings:]
All that I wanted was you
You made all our carnivore dreams come true

You've got the Right Stuff, Wahlburgers
Love the way you taste so great
You've got the Right Stuff, Wahlburgers
Time your stomach made a date
How many years have we lived here and how many reviews have we gone on before we had a Root Beer Float this well done?  Too many!  We are pleased to present our first Wahlburgers opinion to you and as you know, in general we do not at all advocate franchises, but this one's different.  Better different.
Peachy happily sipped the IBC Root Bear Float to start with.
Wahlburgers opened on the Upper East Side in April 2017, upping the Second Avenue quality choices.  Note that the family is Wahlberg and the restaurant is Wahlburgers.
At Wahlburgers, we love their commitment to authenticity from echoing their childhood menu (which we can verify is authentic as Peachy also had a New England childhood) to having direct items that they are personally responsible for.  We understand Aqua Hydrate has double the electrolytes and is Mark Walhberg's water.
We followed that up with Mark's favorite sandwich.  We like how each family member indicates on the menu what they like best.  Meet the Thanksgiving Day Sandwich. Everyone knows Thanksgiving is a wicked awesome holiday that was also created in Massachusetts.
Other people might say winner winner chicken dinner but they really should be concentrating on the Turkey.  This is the only turkey burger Peachy has ever eaten and liked.  It is crafted with fresh ground seasoned turkey burger, stuffing, mayo, and drumroll please, Housemade orange-cranberry sauce and roasted butternut squash.   It sounded like maybe a little overkill to us before we tried it, but it works fabulously well and the components are in ideal proportion to each other.
Wahlburgers culinary intention is to recreate the food and flavors that the nine Wahlberg kids grew up with in Dorchester.  Peachy's pal from school Mickey Curley from Duxbury pronounces it Doahchestahhhhhhh.
We have loved macaroni and cheese forever, since childhood.  Note this is a great family place and there is a kid menu section called "For the 'Smahlburgs'".  Their menu is supahhhh and superbly named.  Meet the Mac and Cheese with Smoked Bacon, which will hit the spot.
Panko crust and slab bacon make the American government cheese taste even better.  We love AMERICAN cheese.  Also cheddar and mozzarella come to the party with parmesean.  You could also add pulled pork, beef, chicken, crispy haddock and/or turkey to this mac and cheese.  We also tried the Chili side, equally inviting and made with fresh ground beef, red beans, ancho chili and their house blend of spices including cumin, salt and pepper, dark chili powder, and garlic powder.  Delicious!
Mirror mirror on the wall, which burger is the most wicked awesome of them all?
In Peachy's opinion, the O.F.D.
This means Originally From Dorchestah.
Normally we are total sticklers for spelling and grammar, however, we totally appreciate the humor employed here and of course they are adding to the authenticity.
A half pound burger is total divinity of the carnivore discipline, enhanced by swiss cheese, bacon, sauteed mushrooms and housemade tomato jam.  We did not even know we liked tomato jam, but we do here.  The flavors melded together perfectly, yielding a perfect burger.  We absolutely cannot wait to eat it again and guess who has a new favorite burger in New York.
We are always into a fish entree and the Crispy Haddock is just as delicious as the burger.  There are many sandwiches outside of the burgers, and this is a terrific choice with the perfectly crisp house prepared seasoned panko house breaded haddock filet.  The lettuce and tomato components of everything we had were spot-on fresh and Ms. I Do Not Like Sauces Very Often really adored the Housemade Balsamic Tartar Sauce.
Meet The Our Burger, Paul Wahlberg's favorite.  He's the chef and the quieter one.  They have teamed up with the frequently-referenced-in-this-column Pat LaFrieda to create a blend of brisket, short rib and chuck that culminates in classic amazing flavor.  Yellow American Cheese, Paul's signature Wahl Sauce and housemade pickles also join this lovely creation on a bun.  The thin crispy onion rings are not to be ignored and we commend their thinness.
Many signature cocktails looked convincing and we tried the Wahlberry Lemonade with blackberries, which is house made and also has vodka.  Manager Chris Guerrero of the Upper East Side did a great job on our first visit and was trained in Lynnfield, Massachusetts with Paul Wahlberg directly.  At age 23, Chris is the youngest manager of all locations and his knowledge of this brand is terrific and his passion is clear.  We look forward to meeting both the Wahlberg original owners of the franchise and the owners of this exact location.
We always order a green salad and we like that we see three choices here.  Naturally, we ordered the Classic which we added chicken to.  (You could also add beef, turkey or crispy haddock.)  Mixed greens, red onion, cucumbers, and grape tomatoes are fresh and fantastic with creamy ranch, which they were glad to put on the side.

Finally, if you know us, you are of the opinion that great things from Boston come to New York. Yes, Peachy is originally from Connecticut and did live in Manhattan for a month as a CBS News intern before Boston College, but she spent years in Boston and lived in the Back Bay after graduation directly prior to coming to Manhattan.
This review started three decades ago and if you don't understand the first part, you probably didn't exist then and maybe Donnie Wahlberg will sing it to you.

We were impressed the first time; we look forward to more greatness from this wicked awesome Boston family brand that is looks like it's going to light the culinary world on fire.

All locations:

As you know, Peachy Deegan graduated from Boston College with a wicked awesome history degree, so we write on A&E's History Channel.
A&E also has been brilliant to do Wahlburgers show!
We told you about that a few times before before we ate there:

A&E says:
This season, with Wahlburgers becoming one of the fastest growing restaurant chains in the world, Mark, Donnie and Paul kick things off with a whopping new deal to open 300 locations across the globe. Additional highlights include a visit from former N*Sync member Joey Fatone who seeks out Donnie for restaurant advice; Mark teams up with Hasbro to create a one-of-a-kind “Paul Wahl” action figure; Donnie taps tour mates Boyz II Men to taste test Jenny McCarthy’s new vodka line while Mark and his kids face off against NFL pro-bowler Travis Kelce in touch football. Penn & Teller make Mark’s Las Vegas Wahlburgers VIP party magical and Mark, Paul and Donnie team up to throw Alma a can’t-miss surprise birthday party she will never forget.

New Bobby Orr Suite at Boston hotel a shrine to all-time great Ames room is covered in personal items from Bruins legend, hockey history NHL.com @NHL

Boston Bruins fans now have the opportunity to stay in a veritable Bobby Orr wonderland.
The Ames Boston Hotel recently opened its brand new Bobby Orr Suite as part of a $6 million renovation. It's the only themed suite among its 114 rooms and the hotel went all out to make the space a shrine to one of the all-time greats.

Located on the 14th floor, the 570 square foot suite is wall-to-wall hockey and includes trophies, photos and other memorabilia.

"We're excited to share this new suite with our guests and Bostonians, not only because it's an incredible tribute to Bobby, one of our greatest athletes and citizens, but also because it's our way of honoring the Boston Bruins, who mean so much to so many and have made the great city of Boston so proud." Trish Berry, general manager of the Ames Boston Hotel, said in a press release.

Just inside the door, which is marked with a big No. 4, there's a golden skate hologram in the full-length mirror and collection of photos of Orr from his playing days. The entryway also has Orr's inspirational quotes.

In the living area, there are two seats from Boston Garden and a replica scoreboard that is stuck on the time Orr scored "The Goal" in 1970. And when guests are tired of that seating arrangement, they can go sit in the penalty box. On the walls are a graphic of the ticket from Orr's first game, the names of every Bruin Orr ever played with, and a silhouette of Orr celebrating in flight.

Orr's retired banner and a collection of hockey sticks from his playing days are hanging in the bedroom, and there's a replica of his wooden locker from Boston Garden with a pair of his replica skates near the bathroom.

Even the custom floor was made to look like a rink with woven white vinyl, faceoff circles and blue line.
All of the personal and historic items in the room came from the Sports Museum at TD Garden, the Bobby Orr Museum in Parry Sound, Ontario and from Orr's collection. Orr provided his Prince of Wales Trophies, a hockey skate sculpture and autographed photos from teammates and other famous friends, like Ted Williams.

"For me, this suite is about celebrating my former teammates, the Boston Bruins, and the city of Boston," Orr said in the release. "I didn't grow up thinking one day I'd have a hotel room in my name, that didn't cross my mind, but I think the Ames did a nice job and the room is perfect for sports and hockey buffs."

The rates for the room run from $500-$1,500, depending on the time of year and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Bobby Orr Hall of Fame in Parry Sound.

RE/MAX FINDS NEW ENGLAND’S YOUNG, LUXURY HOME BUYERS DRIVEN BY ACCESS TO AMENITIES, MODERN FINISHES 2017 Luxury Market Report Shows Seacoast NH and Coastal Connecticut Fastest Growing Regions

RE/MAX INTEGRA, New England announced the findings of its 2017 Luxury Market Report that pinpoints high-growth regions and identifies pricing and volume trends in local luxury real estate markets. A prominent theme in this year’s report is that young (Millennial and Gen-X) luxury home buyers desire modest yet modern homes with equal proximity to both town center amenities and nature.

“Our annual luxury report explores the latest trends in buying and selling behavior, equipping our brokers and agents with essential knowledge that facilitates improved client service,” said Dan Breault, executive vice president and regional director at RE/MAX INTEGRA, New England. “Our brokerages collectively list many luxury properties in New England, and as such we are motivated to understand the lifestyle needs and preferences of the diverse and growing luxury buyer sub-sets.”

The 2017 data illustrates that seaside towns catering to younger, wealthier families through equal access to coastline and lifestyle amenities experienced the largest growth; examples include York, ME, Portsmouth, NH, and New London County, CT.

Other highlights in this year’s report include:
South Shore Region, MA: Saw 64 percent uptick in home sales; Scituate and Duxbury led the way with 41 and 64 percent increases in single-family luxury home sales, respectively
Seacoast Region, NH: All towns increased single-family luxury home sales, attributed to Millennial and Gen-X buyers seeking access to lifestyle amenities and active town centers
Cape Cod, MA: Epically low levels of inventory coupled with cash buyers make Cape Cod a perennially competitive market for luxury properties; Wellfleet sales increased 225 percent; Bourne luxury home sales increased 200 percent
North Shore Region, MA: Stagnant volume of sales as a result of minimal inventory rather than low interest; Gloucester showed a median price increase of 20 percent
Newport & Narragansett, RI: Attracting more move-up and second-home buyers; residents are focused on procuring value-driven properties
Boston, MA: Luxury single-family home sales in Back Bay and West End declined while South Boston sales volumes grew significantly for luxury single-family homes and condominiums
Shore Region, CT: Increasingly popular with older Millennials and Gen-X families making move-up, luxury single-family home purchases; an emerging “seller’s market”
Lake Winnipesaukee, NH: Increase in median luxury home prices with Laconia and Moultonborough leading home sale volumes, 300 and 36 percent respectively

All report data was sourced from Multiple Listing Service data aggregators, Nielsen demographics data, and RE/MAX agents and brokers. The data was compiled based on the definition of a luxury home, being those sold at a price point of over $900,000. 2017 data is defined as the last twelve months, encompassing May 1, 2016 to April 30, 2017 and 2016 data is defined as the previous twelve months, encompassing May 1, 2015 to April 30, 2016.

Laudable Looks: Patrick Murphy at Superbowl 51, Best New England Patriots Enthusiast According to Whom You Know and Also a Graduate of #EvertoExcel

PATRICK MURPHY
Highly Esteemed New England Patriots Enthusiast

...a fellow Boston College graduate, Patrick Murphy attended Superbowl 51 all decked out, earning our endorsement in Laudable Looks!
Patrick tells Whom You Know:
"I'm an overall big Boston sports fan but the Patriots are my favorite team as obviously evidenced by my attire.  Attending the Super Bowl was a legendary weekend. Not only with the outcome of the game, but also the overall weekend is something that every sports fan should try to experience. The friends who went to the game with me all agree that the only word to describe the weekend was 'Epic.'  You definitely have to show your support for your team. There were a lot of people dressed up, but the more outrageous people were with their outfits, the more fun they looked like they were having as fellow fans were giving you high fives, taking pictures, starting chants and just smiling whenever they see you. It was an unreal experience that is evidenced by the permanent smile I had on my face the entire game but for some period during the first half.  My costume was actually designed by Rubie's Costume Company/New York and I rent it from the Costume Company in Arlington, MA.  I do not know the designer as I rent it every time I attend an away game for the Patriots which is a couple times a year. I attend every home game and a few away games every year but dress as Pat Patriot for only the away games."

National Hockey League Rallies Hockey Family to Support Denna Laing's Recovery

League Donates $200,000;
NHL Partners Honda and Ticketmaster Provide 2016 Odyssey

As the National Hockey League celebrates the brightest stars of the game at the 2016 Honda NHL All-Star festivities, it also continues to rally the hockey community to support Denna Laing in her rehabilitation from a serious injury suffered during the inaugural Women’s Outdoor Classic.

On behalf of its member clubs, the NHL is donating $200,000 to assist Laing in her rehabilitation and recovery.

Honda and Ticketmaster, NHL partners and members of the hockey family, are teaming to donate a 2016 Honda Odyssey that will be retrofitted to meet Laing’s transportation needs.

To follow and support Laing’s recovery, visit DennaLaing.org.

This site references:

The NWHL also released the following statements on behalf of Denna Laing's family, NWHL Commissioner Dani Rylan, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman, the Boston Bruins, the Montreal Canadiens and the New England Patriots:

Jerilyn and Dennis Laing: "Denna was thrilled to be taking part in the inaugural season of the National Women's Hockey League and was absolutely delighted to be one of the pioneers in a breakthrough moment for her sport -- the Outdoor Women's Classic. Tragically, Denna suffered a severe spinal cord injury playing the sport she loves. As of today, Denna has limited movement of her arms and no feeling in her legs. Our prayer going forward is that Denna can be moved from the Intensive Care Unit to a Rehabilitation Center and continue to fight every day with her trademark grit and resolve. With respect to her long-term prognosis, right now there are more questions than answers. We have received an incredible outpouring of love and support from countless friends and family members while we try to navigate this overwhelming situation. We are eternally grateful to everyone who continues to offer support as we take on this challenge together."

Dani Rylan, NWHL Commissioner: "The players, teams, coaches, management and staff of the National Women's Hockey League are united in their support of Denna Laing and her family. To reflect our admiration for her as a player and our appreciation for her contribution to the NWHL's first season, we are working with the Laings, our business partners and others to respond compassionately and appropriately to her injury. We will announce further details as soon as plans are formalized. Denna's drive to excel has inspired teammates and coaches alike; in honor of that attribute, I have directed our teams to wear a helmet sticker bearing her uniform number, 24."

Gary Bettman, NHL Commissioner: "Everyone at the National Hockey League, including the Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens, joins Denna Laing's coaches, teammates, friends and fans in wishing Denna the very best as she confronts the challenges ahead. While we are certain Denna will be served well by the tenaciousness that is her trademark, we also will work with the Laing family to rally the support of the hockey family during Denna's rehabilitation.

"We have withheld comment to this point out of respect for the wishes of the Laing family and will continue to honor those wishes going forward."

Cam Neely, Boston Bruins: "On behalf of the Jacobs family I would like to extend the full support of the Boston Bruins to Denna and the Laing family. The New England hockey community is an incredibly strong group, and we know the assistance that will be provided to Denna and her family will be unwavering both in the immediate future and throughout the various stages of treatment."

Geoff Molson, Montreal Canadiens: "The entire Canadiens family, from ownership to management, staff and players, wishes to extend their very best to Denna through this hardship and lends its support to her and her family following this unfortunate injury. Our thoughts are with Denna, her family, friends and teammates."

The Kraft family, New England Patriots: "The Kraft family and entire Gillette Stadium community were deeply saddened to learn of the extent of Denna Laing’s injuries. Our prayers remain with Denna and her family in the hope that she will soon be able to transition to a rehabilitation center that will enable her to continue to improve. We will keep Denna and her family in our prayers throughout her rehabilitation process."

Interview with:

COACH CLAUDE JULIEN

Q. Claude, what were the issues with trying to get that bottom six, some rhythm in the game? It seemed like that was a challenge, especially in the first period.
COACH JULIEN: It was, I think we just had a tough night, when it was -the unfortunate part is that I think we played one of our probably worst games at the worst time. I think it just seemed like it was one of those nights we couldn't get anything going the first period. They were all over us. And it just didn't matter what we tried to do here we just couldn't get it going.
We obviously didn't deserve to win, and we kind of have to push this aside and unfortunate that it was on a big stage like this, and you would like to have your team give a better performance. But we didn't.

Q. Claude, considering what was at stake here, plus all the build?up to it, could you put your finger on why you got off on such a rough start?
COACH JULIEN: Well, not really. And that's what happens sometimes. We have nights where things just don't go your way, and we just couldn't seem to find the rhythm. We couldn't seem to find our game.
And we know we have challenges, but we didn't want to use that as an excuse and we shouldn't. But they came out really hard. They came out well. They seemed to be on their toes. And they had us on our heels early. As I said, from there I think the only rhythm I saw in our team was when we scored that goal, for about five minutes we seemed to have some life, but then it dissipated again.

Q. Claude, did they give you an explanation on that no?goal in the second period at all?
COACH JULIEN: All I can say it was probably a quick whistle. The puck was loose underneath his skate. The referee lost sight of it. There was no explanation given to me. I'm just going by what they seemed to indicate the whistle had blown before the puck went in.

Q. Claude, how would you describe the conditions as far as the ice and everything and the boards and whatnot?
COACH JULIEN: I don't know, I think you probably have to ask the players that. Because, again, I didn't really talk about that, because to me it has no impact on our game, when you look at both teams playing on the same ice.
I think that wasn't my concern, more than it was trying to get our team to try and get something going here. So you'll have to ask them.

Q. You're facing a pretty tough stretch coming up with a road trip. How do you want your team to put this one aside and reload?
COACH JULIEN: Well, you don't have a choice. I always say the same thing, you don't have a choice. You've got to put these aside. Things aren't going to get any easier right now. I don't know if we anticipate having anybody back for the next game yet or not.
So we have to move with what we have, and when you have a lineup you just have to tell yourself you need to be better, and we have to be better as a group. And we're challenged right now, but that's where team comes into play. And you have to play for each other, probably a little bit harder and probably a little bit more determined.

The Boston Bruins®, Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh and the National Hockey League, alongside League partners Constellation, Bridgestone, Ecore, Exelon, Franklin Sports, and Musco, unveiled a renovated street hockey rink in Charlestown, Mass. as part of the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® Legacy Initiative powered by Constellation.

“Through the Winter Classic Legacy Initiative, the National Hockey League family, including our teams and business partners, provides young people in the host community the resources with which to learn the value of team sports while staying active and having fun,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said. “We’re thankful to the Bruins, the city of Boston and our partners in this project for the generous support that will ensure an everlasting spirit of hockey in celebration of the 2016 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic.”

“I’m heartened that a sport so rooted in history and tradition can offer new and exciting ways to cultivate and engage with our future players and fans, and this rink is a great example,” said Jeremy M. Jacobs, Owner & Governor, Boston Bruins. “Bryan McGonagle loved hockey as much as this city loves hockey, and we look forward to many games played in his memory right here in Charlestown.”

The renovated Bryan McGonagle Street Hockey Rink is named after a nine-year-old Charlestown hockey player who died in a tragic accident more than 20-years ago. The McGonagle family was on-site to help drop the puck for the first-ever game played on the outdoor street hockey rink. Cam Neely, alumnus and President of the Boston Bruins; Bob Sweeney, alumnus and Executive Director of the Boston Bruins Foundation; and Tom Songin, alumnus and Youth Hockey Ambassador, were on-site to unveil the new community street hockey rink with local youngsters from the Charlestown Boys and Girls Club.

“We’re proud to team up with the NHL and the Bruins to present this state-of-the-art street hockey rink to the youth of Boston,” Mayor Walsh said. “The renovations to this facility will inspire our city's future hockey stars and provide a fitting tribute to the memory of Bryan McGonagle.”

The Bruins, the city of Boston, the NHL® and its partners came together to donate funds towards the renovation and construction of new elements to the outdoor rink – now ADA accessible – including: a new scoreboard, rink boards, team benches, and spectator seating; new goalie nets with 10 sets of new street hockey equipment; new rubber matting surrounding the rink made of recycled Bridgestone tires, removing approximately 120 spent tires from the waste stream and redirecting them into a sustainable, long-term use; and landscaping enhancements including newly planted trees. Constellation, the League’s official energy services provider, facilitated the installation of new light poles and LED lighting fixtures that will allow the community to use the rink in the evenings.

The Legacy Initiative is an ongoing philanthropic endeavor in which the League, the local Club, and League partners support community organizations in the host city of an NHL Event.
