Ryan Reynolds —award-winning actor, producer, and entrepreneur—will host a nationwide tour this fall celebrating the life and legacy of John Candy with special event screenings of the new documentary John Candy: I Like Me, directed by Emmy Award–nominated filmmaker Colin Hanks. Following each screening, Reynolds will be joined on stage by surprise guests including members of Candy's family and close friends for a live, moderated conversation reflecting on the beloved comedian's artistry, generosity, and cultural impact.

Co-produced by Mills Entertainment and Maximum Effort, in association with Amazon MGM Studios, and presented by Clearly Canadian, the roadshow event series brings this joyful and inspiring tribute to major theaters across North America. The tour is engaging in various opportunities to collaborate with local partners — including film societies, festivals, and sports clubs — creating a community-forward celebration that feels both cinematic and intimate. The tour precedes the documentary's release on Prime Video on October 10, 2025, in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Told through the voices of family, friends, and collaborators, John Candy: I Like Me features never-before-seen archival footage, personal imagery, and intimate interviews that illuminate Candy's extraordinary career, generosity of spirit, and the indelible joy he brought to audiences around the world.

VisitBritain, Britain's national tourism agency, is promoting its new international 'Starring GREAT Britain' campaign at the Toronto International Film Festival. Launched earlier this year, the campaign is using the powerful draw of film and TV locations and places seen-on-screen to inspire visitors to discover more of Britain.

Film and TV experiences visitors can only have in Britain will be showcased at a 'Starring GREAT Britain' reception on September 8 and at a TIFF Gala Presentation of Hamnet, featuring filming locations in Wales and Herefordshire.

Great Britain has amazing filming locations that visitors can explore. In addition, VisitBritain will highlight filming locations across Yorkshire, at Highclere Castle and locations in London's West End at a screening of British film Downton Abbey: the Grand Finale (showing outside the festival). The joint events with UK government colleagues will highlight Britain's visitor offer alongside it's vibrant creative industries.

VisitBritain's latest research shows that among those Canadian visitors considering a trip to the UK, shows 87% of those surveyed would be interested in visiting a film or tv location.

With its global screen tourism campaign Starring GREAT Britain campaign, VisitBritain wants visitors to be the co-star. From action-packed cities to romantic rural escapes, visitors are invited to step into the real-life places that inspire your favourite films and TV shows.

As the Toronto International Film Festival kicks off, the 40 British films and co-productions on screen will feature even more incredible UK filming locations.Edinburgh's Royal Mile and Lincolnshire's Burghley House sending shivers down spines in the new adaptation of Frankenstein.

Powered by widespread critical praise and enthusiastic word-of-mouth, James Gunn’s Superman continues to soar at the worldwide box office, flying past the $600 million mark on Friday, August 22, 2025. The announcement was made today by Jeff Goldstein, President, Warner Bros. Pictures Global Distribution.

The vanguard feature launching Gunn and producer Peter Safran’s unified DC Universe, Superman continues to prove a powerful draw at theaters around the world, earning an impressive $344 million and counting in North America, $88 million coming from IMAX® and other large format venues; and $256 million in 78 territories overseas, with consistently strong showings in the UK [$37M], Mexico [$23M], Brazil [$16M], Australia [$16M] and France [$15M], among other markets.

In making the announcement, Goldstein stated, “These incredible results demonstrate that James’s vision for this iconic character is resonating in a big way with audiences here and across the globe. It is a rare and exciting thing for a film to perform at this level so far into its run, but the consistently strong word-of-mouth and minimal drops we’re seeing from week to week tell us that not only are people returning to experience Superman again and again in theaters, they’re bringing their friends and family along for the ride. From New Line Cinema comes a feature film drawn from the case files of married demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren. The Conjuring stars Academy Award® nominee Vera Farmiga (Up in the Air) and Patrick Wilson (Insidious) as the Warrens, and Ron Livingston and Lili Taylor as Roger and Carolyn Perron, residents of the house.

Joey King, Shanley Caswell, Hayley McFarland, Mackenzie Foy and Kyla Deaver play the Perrons’ five daughters, and Sterling Jerins is the Warrens’ little girl, Judy. Rounding out the cast are Marion Guyot as Judy’s grandmother; Steve Coulter as Father Gordan; Shannon Kook as the Warren’s investigative assistant, Drew; and John Brotherton as the local law enforcement official skeptical of the Perrons’ claims and the Warrens’ tactics.

James Wan (Saw, Insidious) directs from a screenplay by Chad Hayes & Carey W. Hayes (The Reaping). Following the success of its first edition in 2024, the international competition created by Reply – open to all creatives who have produced a short film using new technologies and AI tools – now announces its ten finalists.

The Reply AI Film Festival brings together cinema and artificial intelligence to explore new frontiers in storytelling and creative production. Following the success of its inaugural edition in 2024, the international competition, created by Reply, is open to all creative professionals.

During the days of the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, the selected works – chosen from over 2,500 submission from 67 countries – will be awarded at a ceremony on Thursday, 4th September at the Mastercard Priceless Lounge, Hotel Excelsior, Lido of Venice. This event represents a unique opportunity to celebrate the dialogue between technology and cinema, showcasing emerging talent, forward-thinking ideas and innovative approaches.

The winners will be selected by an international jury chaired by filmmaker Gabriele Muccino. The jury will comprise of Rob Minkoff, Caleb & Shelby Ward, Denise Negri, Dave Clark, Charlie Fink, Filippo Rizzante, Caroline Ingeborn, Paolo Moroni and Guillem Martinez Roura, among others. #MovietimeInManhattan @WBD HIGHLY RECOMMENDED BY WHOM YOU KNOW, THE ACCOUNTANT 2 ARRIVES ON 4K UHD ™, BLU-RAY ™ AND DVD ON AUGUST 12

“The Accountant 2,” from Amazon MGM Studios, will be available for purchase on 4K UHD ™, Blu-ray ™ and DVD on August 12.

Unfortunately, The Academy (Oscars) did not agree with us on the first one, but we again were impressed with the Accountant 2.  We like how it's shown as a square: to the second power mathematically.  We are super pro-math!  Unfortunately Anna Kendrick is not in this one; we think she was a huge plus in the first.

This edition is gripping from the opening sequence, and throughout, Ben Affleck delivers a standout performance.  We have always loved his work, starting with Good Will Hunting and in more recent years with AIR.  

Unnerving technology, gripping action scenes and smart kids round out this winner.  J.K. Simmons also deserves accolades.

Dedicated, talented actress Katie Holmes really impressed us with her fantastic attitude and work ethic with a smile on her face wearing pants and long sleeves in 100F Manhattan weather when the humidity could not be much worse! Her Instagram says:

I am so very grateful to be working again with so many of my wonderful friends on this film HAPPY HOURS. And working with Josh after so many years is a testament to friendship. HAPPY HOURS is a love story that includes so many people I adore. We can’t wait for everyone to see what we make.
