DAYLIGHT: SIX ARGENTINE DESIGNERS SHOWING AT MERCEDES BENZ FASHION WEEK IN LINCOLN CENTER

Argentina, we're not crying for you because you have FABULOUS designers and clothes to show it! For a third consecutive year, the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade brought a selection of top Argentine designers to show at the Spring 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, one of the most prestigious events in the fashion world. The runway show took place at The Stage in Lincoln Center on Tuesday, September 13th at 3 p.m and was a big hit says Peachy Deegan, Editor-in-Chief of whomyouknow.com! This is what we call total fashion efficiency; why go to one show with one designer when you can go to one show with six of them?!

Six well-known fashion designers showed highlights of their collections. Argentine accessories and footwear designers have also been invited to participate. We thought they were all very good but Min Agostini was the best. She had an amazing use of color and we really liked how each piece looked from the back. Desiderata had the best headbands and we want one of those! The camel trench was the strongest piece from the Desiderata collection and it is harder than you think to find a really great trench. Cardon seemed very traditional to South America. Cora Groppo was pretty urban. Daniela Sartori was clean and sporty and that was perhaps our 2nd favorite-the strongest piece being the Cotton White, black structured skirt. The only thing missing was Jose L. Perez-Gabilondo and a bar filled with amazing Malbec...where is the bar at all in the tents this Fashion Week? You know we love Argentinian people for their wine also:

A panel of fashion editors and stylists chose the designers, whose criterion were creativity, career progress and ability to show and sell internationally. The six finalists are: Cardon, Cora Groppo, Daniela Sartori, Desiderata, Mariana Dappiano and Min Agostini.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade of Argentina developed the fashion show as part of an initiative to promote Argentine creativity, talent and design in the international market. In the past decade, fashion exports have become a significant force to the Argentine economy.

Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 is the main sponsor of this event with the collaboration of Wines of Argentina and the National Institute of Tourism Promotion.

Ambassador Luis Kreckler, Secretary of Trade and International Economic Relations of the Argentine Ministry said of the event, “this year marks the third runway show for Argentine fashion designers. To have had such a strong showing the past two years demonstrates Argentine fashion is on the rise. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs recognizes how the country’s booming fashion industry has received international recognition and bolstered job creation.”

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week is New York City’s largest media event, and one of the largest fashion events around the world. Hundreds of thousands of industry insiders, including designers, buyers, celebrities, stylists, and journalists meet at “The Tents” in Lincoln Center for eight days of shows by prominent, celebrated designers. Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan, Michael Kors, Narciso Rodriguez and Vera Wang are some of the names that will be showing this season.

The real stars stand with Peachy:

Alejandra we used our Boston College cross pen to take notes with in your honor bravo to you.
We enjoyed meeting Silvia Maggiani and Lesley W.
