#SmallScreenScenes #NewEngland #Connecticut #Massachusetts #RhodeIsland #Maine #Vermont #NewHampshire #WhomYouKnow @PBS and @BBC Announce AUTUMNWATCH - NEW ENGLAND

Travel journalist Samantha Brown, wildlife cinematographer Bob Poole and BBC presenter Chris Packham host the live nature show celebrating fall in New England

PBS announced today, as part of its co-production partnership with the BBC, that a new three-part live event, AUTUMNWATCH – NEW ENGLAND, will air Wednesday-Thursday, October 17-18, 2018, at 8:00-9:00 p.m. ET and Friday, October 19, 2018, at 8:30-9:30 p.m. ET.

Travel journalist Samantha Brown, BBC presenter Chris Packham and wildlife cinematographer Bob Poole will host the multi-platform television experience from alongside Squam Lake, New Hampshire. Similar in format to PBS’ previous summer spectacles BIG BLUE LIVE and WILD ALASKA LIVE, the new series will include a mix of live feeds and pre-taped footage from across New England.

Unique to AUTUMNWATCH – NEW ENGLAND, the live event will focus on cultural traditions and historical sites in addition to local wildlife and the colorful gold and red landscapes in the region that’s best known for them.

To accomplish this, local experts in food, wildlife, music, literature and history will join the trio of hosts each night to showcase characteristics special to New England.

“In AUTUMNWATCH – NEW ENGLAND, audiences will experience exquisite outdoor adventures while surrounded by nature’s most picturesque imagery,” said Bill Gardner, Vice President, Programming & Development, PBS. “We look forward to partnering with the BBC once again to present this ambitious live production and share this American experience with PBS and BBC viewers.”

AUTUMNWATCH – NEW ENGLAND cameras will be there to capture time-lapse changes of fall foliage; a quest for majestic moose in Maine; key wildlife species like squirrels, chipmunks and turkey gangs as they invade backyards in preparation for the winter months; and the critters like owls, bats and bears that make the most of nighttime.

Audiences can expect to see segments that highlight Native American history and traditions, Halloween traditions, regional fairs and the many farms that provide the region with its rich varieties of apples, pumpkins, cranberries and maple syrups.

“I'm thrilled that AUTUMNWATCHis moving to New England for this very special week of live programming,” Tom McDonald, BBC Head of Commissioning, Natural History and Specialist Factual, said. “The teams are heading to one of the most iconic locations in the USA to experience the great American 'fall' for what promises to be an unforgettable chapter in the Watches' history.”

AUTUMNWATCH – NEW ENGLAND, a co-production with BBC Studios Natural History Unit and PBS, will be Executive Produced by Rosemary Edwards and Series Produced by Chris Howard. Tom McDonald, BBC Head of Commissioning and Bill Margol, Senior Director of Programming and Development at PBS will oversee the project.

RE/MAX FINDS NEW ENGLAND’S YOUNG, LUXURY HOME BUYERS DRIVEN BY ACCESS TO AMENITIES, MODERN FINISHES 2017 Luxury Market Report Shows Seacoast NH and Coastal Connecticut Fastest Growing Regions

RE/MAX INTEGRA, New England announced the findings of its 2017 Luxury Market Report that pinpoints high-growth regions and identifies pricing and volume trends in local luxury real estate markets. A prominent theme in this year’s report is that young (Millennial and Gen-X) luxury home buyers desire modest yet modern homes with equal proximity to both town center amenities and nature.

“Our annual luxury report explores the latest trends in buying and selling behavior, equipping our brokers and agents with essential knowledge that facilitates improved client service,” said Dan Breault, executive vice president and regional director at RE/MAX INTEGRA, New England. “Our brokerages collectively list many luxury properties in New England, and as such we are motivated to understand the lifestyle needs and preferences of the diverse and growing luxury buyer sub-sets.”

The 2017 data illustrates that seaside towns catering to younger, wealthier families through equal access to coastline and lifestyle amenities experienced the largest growth; examples include York, ME, Portsmouth, NH, and New London County, CT.

Other highlights in this year’s report include:
South Shore Region, MA: Saw 64 percent uptick in home sales; Scituate and Duxbury led the way with 41 and 64 percent increases in single-family luxury home sales, respectively
Seacoast Region, NH: All towns increased single-family luxury home sales, attributed to Millennial and Gen-X buyers seeking access to lifestyle amenities and active town centers
Cape Cod, MA: Epically low levels of inventory coupled with cash buyers make Cape Cod a perennially competitive market for luxury properties; Wellfleet sales increased 225 percent; Bourne luxury home sales increased 200 percent
North Shore Region, MA: Stagnant volume of sales as a result of minimal inventory rather than low interest; Gloucester showed a median price increase of 20 percent
Newport & Narragansett, RI: Attracting more move-up and second-home buyers; residents are focused on procuring value-driven properties
Boston, MA: Luxury single-family home sales in Back Bay and West End declined while South Boston sales volumes grew significantly for luxury single-family homes and condominiums
Shore Region, CT: Increasingly popular with older Millennials and Gen-X families making move-up, luxury single-family home purchases; an emerging “seller’s market”
Lake Winnipesaukee, NH: Increase in median luxury home prices with Laconia and Moultonborough leading home sale volumes, 300 and 36 percent respectively

All report data was sourced from Multiple Listing Service data aggregators, Nielsen demographics data, and RE/MAX agents and brokers. The data was compiled based on the definition of a luxury home, being those sold at a price point of over $900,000. 2017 data is defined as the last twelve months, encompassing May 1, 2016 to April 30, 2017 and 2016 data is defined as the previous twelve months, encompassing May 1, 2015 to April 30, 2016.

THURSDAY

Brian Harman (10), Jim Furyk (137), Rory McIlroy (69): Furyk will play alongside a fellow FedExCup champ and one of this season’s breakout stars as he returns to the site of last year’s historic 58. McIlroy, the reigning FedExCup champ, is making his debut at this event after missing the cut in the U.S. Open. Harman, who finished T2 at Erin Hills, ranks in both the top 10 of the FedExCup (10) and the U.S. Presidents Cup standings (9). He’s finished in the top 10 in four of his past six starts, including a win over FedExCup leader Dustin Johnson at the Wells Fargo Championship and his U.S. Open runner-up.

Tee time: 7:50 a.m. Eastern off 10th tee.

Justin Thomas (3), Patrick Reed (75), Jason Day (45): Thomas and Reed are fresh off top-15 finishes at the U.S. Open, while Day is trying to rebound from his missed cut at Erin Hills. Thomas (T9) played in the final group last week after an electric 63 in the third round, while Reed (T13) posted his best career finish in a U.S. Open. Day’s top finish this season has been a runner-up finish at the AT&T Byron Nelson. Thomas and Day will see each other at this year’s Presidents Cup, as well, as both players rank second on their respective team’s point list. Reed, who’s nicknamed “Captain America” for his stellar play in international team events, is 11th in the U.S. standings; the top 10 on Sept. 4 will automatically qualify for the team.

Tee time: 8 a.m. Eastern off 10th tee.

FRIDAY

Bubba Watson (109), Marc Leishman (15), Russell Knox (57): Three past winners of the Travelers Championship are in this group. Knox won last year with a dramatic 12-foot par putt on the last hole. Leishman, the 2009 Rookie of the Year, earned his first PGA TOUR win here in 2012. He earned his second victory earlier this year at the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by Mastercard. Watson is a two-time winner at TPC River Highlands (2010, ’15) and has finished in the top 10 in half of his 10 starts there.

Tee time: 7:50 a.m. Eastern off 10th tee.

Jordan Spieth (6), Brandt Snedeker (44), Wesley Bryan (22): Two former PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year, Spieth and Snedeker, are paired with a favorite for this season’s award. Snedeker won the FedExCup in 2012.

Advantageous Auctions: Paul Newman’s “Paul Newman” Daytona – The Ultimate Rolex Daytona – To be Offered During Phillips’ Inaugural New York Watch Auction: WINNING ICONS – Legendary Watches of the 20th Century Taking Place on 26 October 2017

Phillips in Association with Bacs & Russo, the leading watch auction house dedicated to highest quality timepieces, is proud to launch its inaugural New York auction with WINNING ICONS – Legendary Watches of the 20th Century. Scheduled to take place on 26 October 2017, this landmark thematic auction will be dedicated to the most iconic collectors watches of the last century.

A historic event in its own right, WINNING ICONS will offer what is without a doubt amongst the most important Rolex watches to ever be offered on the market: The singular, one and only Rolex “Paul Newman” Cosmograph Daytona owned and worn by none other than Paul Newman. With an absolutely superb provenance, it is the watch that inspired the legendary nickname for the most prestigious versions of Rolex’s Daytona.

For enthusiasts and scholars, it is this association with Paul Newman that has led to the Rolex Daytona being universally regarded as one of the world’s most sought after and collectible of all mechanical wristwatches.

A Hollywood legend in every sense, mere mention of the name Paul Newman conjures up images of his distinguished life and careers as an actor, director, racecar driver, entrepreneur, family man, and philanthropist. He was a multi-faceted virtuoso and his incredible performances on screen and stage not only made audiences laugh and cry for decades, but won him two Academy Awards, including that of Best Actor – Hollywood’s ultimate endorsement of his immense talents.

Outside of his artistic endeavors, Newman had long been passionate about speed. It was his role in the 1969 film, Winning, playing racecar driver Frank Capua, where his passion for racing would form. His wife and fellow actress, Joanne Woodward, fittingly played the role of Capua’s wife – a role she had already been perfecting for a decade in their personal lives. Taking place at the Indianapolis 500 Motor Speedway, the movie launched his hugely successful auto-racing career. Applying the same methodical discipline that honed his acting skills, he trained relentlessly, and would go on to win many races throughout his lifetime - even placing second at the 1979 24 Hours of Le Mans race.

But even in the earliest days on the set of Winning, Joanne was uncomfortable about her husband’s motor racing, fearing he would hurt himself in an accident. Either during or following the filming of Winning, Joanne purchased the perfect gift for her husband, likely at Tiffany & Co. – a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona – a watch designed specifically for motor sport. On its caseback, “DRIVE CAREFULLY ME” is the heartfelt and loving inscription she chose to engrave for him. Fearful of his need for speed, Joanne would worry for his life every time Newman would step onto the racetrack for a drive.

A woman of exceptional taste, she chose a rare and exclusive version of the Cosmograph Daytona – a reference 6239 fitted with what the brand called an “exotic” dial. The reference 6239 was the very first model of Rolex’s iconic Cosmograph "Daytona" series - produced from approximately 1963 until 1970. It was the firm's first chronograph with a tachymeter scale engraved on the bezel, designed to instantly and clearly measure speed.

During the 1980s, as wristwatch collecting began to grow in earnest, Daytonas fitted with the “exotic” dial became known as the “Paul Newman” Daytona after the famous actor, who was seen wearing this very watch for many years. Along with the red “Daytona” designation at 6 o’clock and the red outer seconds track found on Paul Newman’s watch, the signature trait of exotic, “Paul Newman” dials is their subsidiary dials. The beautiful, art-deco flare of the font used, and the hash marks with small squares used for the counters set these exotic dials apart from the standard dials more commonly seen on Daytonas.

The horological event of 2017 will be the offering of this particular reference 6239. Commonly referred to, but not seen since the 1980s, is this most important of Rolex Paul Newman Daytonas. This exact watch to be offered for sale by Phillips was worn daily by the legend himself, and was prominently featured in many photographs published in magazines and books for decades.

This absolutely fresh-to-the-market wristwatch is the “Paul Newman” after which all others came second. Throughout his career, Mr. Newman was seen wearing many different generations of Daytona models. This is the first Daytona he wore, and is the only "exotic"-dialed Daytona that Mr. Newman owned and wore, making it the ultimate Rolex Daytona wristwatch. It features the most famous dial, fitted in the most famous collectors’ watch, produced by the most famous watch brand.

Accordingly, world records continue to be achieved for Rolex’s Cosmograph Daytona models, including:
An 18 karat yellow gold Daytona “Paul Newman”, reference 6263, referred to in literature as “The Legend”, sold by Phillips in May 2017 for US $3,717,906
A stainless steel Daytona “Paul Newman” “Oyster Sotto”, reference 6263, sold by Phillips in May 2016 for US $2,024,700

For years, until 1984, Paul Newman wore this watch faithfully. Ultimately, it was given directly by Mr. Newman to the consignor, forging an incredible history and provenance that we are delighted to share here.

Off camera, it was sometimes difficult to differentiate the storybook endings that Mr. Newman acted through on the silver screen and the ones that transpired within his own family. The story of this watch, and its connection to Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward’s first daughter, Elinor “Nell” Newman is truly fascinating.

Nell was a beautiful, smart, ‘girl next door’ type. Humble like her father, she never advertised her Hollywood pedigree growing up.

In the fall semester of 1983 at the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine, she began dating a fellow student named James Cox. At school, she kept her famous background secret, going by her largely unknown stage name, Nell Potts. During a dinner with fellow students, Nell brought a bottle of “Newman’s Own” salad dressing – a product her father produced through his charitable company, Newman’s Own. Upon seeing the bottle, James told the group that he had met Paul Newman as a child at the Lime Rock motorsport racetrack with his father. From behind the roped-off racing teams’ pit-area, a young, wide-eyed James was trying to capture a picture of the drivers and their cars. Cox was spotted by a fully suited up driver who gestured towards him to come under the barrier onto the track to get a better photograph. The driver, he told them, was none other than Paul Newman.

It was after she heard the story that Nell confessed her true identity to James. Her name was not Nell Potts, but rather Nell Newman. Nell diligently hid her background under this alias to insulate herself from anyone with ill intentions seeking to become her friend for the wrong reasons. Needless to say, James was in love with her, not her famous background, and the two continued to date for several years.

Fast forward to the summer of 1984, when both Nell and James were staying at her family’s house in Westport, Connecticut. That summer, Nell was hired as a hack‐site attendant in Vermont, helping rehabilitate Peregrine Falcons to return to the wild. James stayed behind at the house along with Paul Newman, and eventually came up with the idea to upgrade and rebuild the impressive tree house on the main property, known as “Nook House.”

It was this very tree house that convinced Nell’s mother, Joanne Woodward, to purchase the home. For Paul and Joanne, the tree house was in fact the most important feature of Nook House, and it was central to the longevity of their incredible, 50-year marriage.

Nell Newman recalls the story below, in her signed letter accompanying the watch:

“The tree house was perched in a large oak tree that cantilevered over the Aspetuck River at my childhood home in Westport, Connecticut. We had two family homes, one on each side of the river. That summer Pop was living in one, and James was living in the other. Pop would frequent the river bank to check on James’ progress. During one such encounter, Pop asked James if he knew the time. Apparently Pop forgot to wind his wristwatch that morning. James responded that he didn’t know the time and didn’t own a watch. Pop handed James his Rolex and said, “if you can remember to wind this each day, it tells pretty good time.”

Since that day, James treasured the watch and has preserved it in all original condition.

Together, James and Nell, who remain close friends, have jointly decided to sell the watch, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Nell Newman Foundation. The charitable foundation supports her father’s philanthropic values, while serving Nell’s commitment to organic foods and sustainable agriculture. A portion of the sale proceeds will also go to benefit Newman’s Own Foundation.

Phillips is thrilled to offer this watch to the market, which can easily be considered the most “storied” and most important vintage Rolex of our time.

This top lot of the groundbreaking WINNING ICONS New York Auction will be offered with an estimate in excess of US $1.0 million.

Whom We Miss: Gordie Howe by Andre Lacroix

Gordie and Andre

"Gordie was the best of them all. He had most of his success when there were only 6 teams. He was even a better person than he was a hockey player. He always had time to sign autographs and he never thought of himself as the great Gordie. He only wanted to be one of the guys. He will be missed because there will not be another Gordie Howe. I am happy to have been a friend of Gordie for many years and I will miss him like a lot of other people will. He meant so much to the community when he played in Hartford and when you meet him you would never leave with the idea that he was the greatest. He was the best who always treated everybody else like he wanted to be treated. A great man who loved everybody around him. I am sure he is in a good place thinking how he could help somebody else. I am sure he would want everybody to celebrate his life because he had a good one. I will miss him a lot."

Connecticut readers: your life just got A LOT MORE EXCITING!
Sometimes the best of Manhattan comes from Connecticut (you think this if you're reading us) but other times, the BEST OF MANHATTAN GOES TO CONNECTICUT!
We are thrilled to announce our friends from Melbourne, Australia, Chris McPherson and Chris Rendell, are expanding the brilliant Flinders Lane to Stamford, Connecticut in late 2016.
It's high time Connecticut diners became acquainted with this high-caliber Australian fare and we believe their talents far exceed any restaurant we have ever been to in Stamford (the competition should be scared!).
Also you can have total confidence in the fact that they truly do know Australian food because they're from Melbourne; though you may not know Australian food now you're going to want to know it.  We cannot think of any Australian restaurant in the State of Connecticut right now, and have never known there to be one.
The Stamford location will have 75 seats and will be on Summer Street, a ten minute walk from the Metro North train.  Fairfield County diners: get ready to elevate your level of cuisine.
Peachy Picked Flinders Lane in the fall of 2015:
We first visited a year ago:
The Flinders Lane hit parade continued with the Shaved Brussel Sprouts, above.  This was our choice for the green salad option, and all items are organic.  This bevy of nutrition is composed of red cabbage, radish and the shaved brussel sprouts topped off with soft boiled quail egg, and they put dressing on the side for Ms. Picky here.  Flinders Lane is super detail-oriented and we love it.
On the day we visited we were happy to see their special of the Salt and Black Peppercorn Fried Maine Shrimp, from The Lobster Place.
This is one of their specialties; the crispiness comes into play when you consider that you also eat the shell, which is really quite fun once you try it.  We're told that if you're sitting on the beach in Australia watching the sun set sipping your beer that these are your go-to munchie.  The trip to Manhattan's Flinders Lane is far shorter than the trip to Australia, so you can imagine yourself on a mini-vacation eating these beauties.
Flinders Lane has seafood deliveries EVERY DAY and is committed to quality.  We don't always go back to a place once it's earned a spot in Peachy's Picks but were super excited to return to Flinders Lane.

The appetizer we chose were the Diver Caught Scallops, which are also sourced from The Lobster Place.  They rest upon amazing macadamia-chili relish which boasts laudable texture, braised hijiki (black), and good water farm greens.  The scallops were seared to perfection and also add to your Australian beach vacation in your mind.
We expanded our horizons a bit with the entree: Coconut Curry Laksa.  This is the mark of brilliance-when a venue makes us like something that we don't like anywhere else.  Peachy does not like coconut.  Peachy does not like curry.  She also abhors tofu, HOWEVER, Chris Rendell is the kind of chef that is so talented that you are likely to adore whatever he makes even if you have never liked any incarnation of it anywhere else.
This is a stellar harmony of spice, sour and sweetness that is orchestrated in your mouth with monumental flavor.  Of course, we liked the jumbo crab meat in it the most because you know who is the crabbiest of all.  Bean sprouts, tofu, and rice noodles join the party in a bowl and this reminded us a bit of bisque.  It's thick coconut-milk based and is a Southeast Asian dish which has a heightened sense of fire with its curry effect.  It gets high points for being both unique/creative and delicious.  Sometimes when a place tries to be too creative our stomach is upset but this is just right.  We are told that this is a hangover cure; we wouldn't know because Star Vodka doesn't give you hangovers, but we will take their word for it.
"2016 is an exciting year at Flinders Lane as we're expanding to Stamford, Connecticut with the same concept that we've had success with in Manhattan.  We're bringing a slice of our hometown to the Constitution State!" Chris McPherson tells us.
We love Flinders Lane!
Flinders Lane continues to be Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.  Of course it is Terrific Takeout!

Cocktail Bermuda Short by Clare Hare of Darien Highly Recommended by Whom You Know! Can't Beat Made in the USA by Clare from Connecticut!

The holidays are harbingers of cocktails...and don't you need a new pair of shorts to celebrate!
It's pretty warm here up North for this time of year, but these are perfect for down South.
Peachy's wearing them at Table D'Hote, on the Upper East side of Manhattan with a Lilly Pulitzer polo.
Cocktail Bermuda Short: Mid-rise with distinctive trim; hidden side clasp at waist; just above knee length.  And, drum roll please, they are made in the USA!  They look great with any solid top or you can wear them to the beach over your suit.  Their upbeat, colorful flair is certain to put you in a good mood as well as the expert craftsmanship and quality employed.
Previously on Whom You Know, Clare Hare of Darien was featured:

Clare Hare Darien is a female-founded company which designs and manufactures resortwear for women since 2004. The motivation for her business came from combining a background in finance and a love for textiles into an apparel design and manufacturing company--Clare knew how to sew and was a "numbers" person--therefore, a logical fit for the design of patterns and the logistics of manufacturing. Clare became interested in the plight of the Garment District in NYC and was committed to only manufacturing in the USA and keeping manufacturing and jobs alive in our own country. Several years later, having developed 10 best selling designs, the company sells to about 100 prestigious clubs in the USA across the country and has an active ecommerce website.

Clare participates in selected trunk shows and has a partnership with the Melanoma Research Alliance, which receives 5% of sales of her sun-protective wear, and is devoted to research on how to end melanoma. Clare’s sun-resistant activewear features a long-sleeved shirt with built in fabric protection with the same defining characteristics of her line: classic, yet stylish, comfortable and great for travel--all made in the USA—of mostly all cotton, imported fabrics. Clare Hare’s apparel label includes: skorts, shorts, pants, short-sleeved polo shirts, tunics and casual dresses to be worn for golf and/or other resort activities: boating, biking or just shopping around town. Her clothing line exemplifies: fabulous patterns, distinctive trim, superior fit (with regulation hem length for golf) and flawless construction (made in NYC) which sets her apart from the rest of her competition. The firm has a loyal following from individuals, as well as distributing to top clubs around the country including: the Everglades Club and Maidstone Club, and upscale boutiques such as: the Darien Sport Shop and the Nantucket Hotel.

SunScreen50 Dry Knit 4-way Stretch Iris Long Sleeved Polo by Clare Hare of Darien Highly Recommended by Whom You Know! Bien Sur Mes Amies, the Best of New York is from Connecticut!

Clare Hare has done it again, and this may be our favorite piece we tried...
Look, Mover and Shaker Bill Knapp even matched the flowers to it.  Resort season is upon us, but even though the weather is much warmer down south, there are colder days and rainier days when you will want to wear something long-sleeves.  And this sharp number even has SPF in it to protect you all the time as the sun goes in and out of the clouds as it pleases.   The
SunScreen50 Dry Knit 4-way Stretch Iris Long Sleeved Polo boasts luxurious, sporty Sun-protective fabric up to SPF 50, collar, long-sleeved, same colored buttons, princess seams for a flawless fit.  We've never felt such amazing fabric on a Polo before, and in yesteryear it was nicer to recall you knew the person behind the brand of this style shirt was directly involved.  You can return to that kind of relationship with your polo when you work with Clare, as she is the designer and CEO and is definitely directly involved.
And we just adore the attractive shade of violet!
Long sleeve with collar; 3 button plaquet; fitted through body; 99% Micropolyester/10% Lycra, Moisture Wicking UPF 50+

FASHION ALERT: Introducing Clare Hare Just in Time for Resort Season! We Are Thrilled This Connecticut Designer Not Only Designs But Also Manufactures in the USA! Black and White Skort Recommended by Whom You Know.

Up north, the chill is descending upon us, and that means one thing: FLORIDA!  And in the land of sun and fun, you will not be bundling up.  Do you have the hottest new looks to wear on the golf course?  You will if you know Clare...remember it's not who you know, it's Whom You Know.  We've recently met Clare through the wonderful world of Twitter.  Although she is very close, in Connecticut.  Established in 2004, Clare Hare is a line of high-end resort wear made in New York City.
Peachy's wearing the skort at Table D'Hote which is kind of like going to the French countryside in Manhattan, her kind of resort.  We like the quality fabric employed and the expert attention to detail and workmanship.  The small lines are patterned artistically yet neatly for a modern preppy look.  The
Black and White Skort sports a regulation hem length; 2 pockets(side and front), back zipper, and distinctive waistband trim.

Clare Hare's skort is recommended by Whom You Know!
And so is Table D'Hote, which has been featured many many times...we agree with that A, City of New York!  (And we would have added a plus.)

A comedy about quite literally the leisure class taking place in Connecticut?
SIGN US UP!
You know it's Connecticut because the filmmakers are authentic right down to the Connecticut drivers license, which looked perfectly accurate to us.  You know who learned to drive in Connecticut...
Opening with a wedding, which is quite the scene for drama of all sorts, Charles and Fiona embark on a storybook life and this begins how many romances end, with them riding off into the sunset.

Wait.

Really?

Is that really what happens when you get married?!?!?

Complete with a little brother from Eton and "The Langston Brand", The Leisure Class hits the high notes on every stereotype and the plot thickens like the best joke you played on someone in college.  Or prep school, shall we say.

This script and ultimately the characters, in character of course, pay a fabulous homage to the art of bs and their execution is so superb, you wonder if it is possibly part improvisational?  The chemistry between actors is undeniable and this was well-cast.

From skinny dipping in the pool to the seriousness of a car accident, the well-written story will keep the audience enraptured in something they haven't seen before.

If you pay someone off, will they really go away?
What do you need to do?!!?
Parts of this movie are a tribute to the art of negotiation!
We cannot overemphasize how priceless these characters are, and the only way to appreciate them is to make this movie a watching priority for you.

The Leisure Class on HBO is Recommended by Whom You Know.

The film will also be available on HBO NOW and HBO GO.

THE LEISURE CLASS is the end product of the current season of “Project Greenlight,” which takes a revealing, uncensored look at the challenges facing a first-time director. The eight-episode fourth season, which launched Sept. 13 on HBO, began with a digital competition, as thousands of aspiring filmmakers submitted three-minute short films via a Facebook page. The pool of 5000 contestants eventually narrowed to 13 finalists, each of whom was given a scene to direct for their final project, based on a script provided to them. Jason Mann bested the competition and was chosen the winner. In addition to making his directorial debut, Mann co-wrote the screenplay of the film with Pete Jones.

THE LEISURE CLASS revolves around William, a debonair Englishman celebrating his imminent marriage to Fiona, the beautiful daughter of a U.S. senator and prominent East Coast family. But William is a con man; his identity is fake and his intent is to embezzle funds from the senator’s charitable organization. Unexpectedly, William realizes he has true feelings for Fiona and now regrets his predicament.

On the eve of the wedding, the sudden arrival of William’s unstable, estranged brother, Leonard, threatens to expose both William’s true identity and his scam. Unable to convince Leonard to leave, William watches helplessly as his brother insinuates himself into the family and the wedding festivities. A long night ensues, during which Leonard’s reckless behavior not only calls into question the true nature of William and Fiona’s relationship, but also reveals disturbing, long-hidden truths about Fiona’s family.

THE LEISURE CLASS cast includes Ed Weeks (“The Mindy Project”) as the groom-to-be con man, William Rooney; Tom Bell (“Humans“) as William’s estranged brother, Leonard; Bridget Regan (“Jane the Virgin“) as William’s bride-to-be, Fiona Langston; Scottie Thompson (“The Blacklist“) as Fiona’s sister Allison; Melanie Zanetti (“Battle of the Damned“) as Fiona’s youngest sister, Carolyn; Christine Lakin (“Family Guy”) as Leonard’s new friend; Rory Knox Johnston (“Comedy Bang! Bang!“) as the family butler; with Brenda Strong (“Dallas”; two-time Emmy®nominee for “Desperate Housewives”) as Fiona’s mother, Charlotte Langston, and Bruce Davison (Best Supporting Actor Oscar® nominee for “Longtime Companion”; Golden Globe winner for “Short Cuts” and “Longtime Companion”) as Fiona’s father, U.S. Senator Edward Langston.

THE LEISURE CLASS is an HBO Films presentation in association with Adaptive Studios, Pearl Street Films and Miramax, in association with Duly Noted, Inc.; directed by Jason Mann from a screenplay by Pete Jones and Jason Mann; executive produced by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Bobby Farrelly, Peter Farrelly, Jennifer Todd, TJ Barrack, Perrin Chiles and Marshall Lewy; produced by Effie T. Brown and Marc Joubert.
