Ashley Perry joined Lenovo in 2010 as a Lenovo Ambassador. She conducts product training and customer briefings in the North America. Ashley earned her MBA with a concentration in marketing from the University of Maine in 2004 and her BS in Business Administration with a concentration in management from the University of Maine in 2003. Prior to joining Lenovo, Ashley worked at the Target Technology Business Incubator helping several technology start-up companies to conduct market research, write business plans, and launch their products. Ashley has also worked as a training and development consultant for businesses in various industries. As a Lenovo Ambassador, Ashley enjoys working in a position where she is able to express her passion for technology and marketing through educating others about Lenovo products. We love Lenovo and they are our favorite computer brand and we could not be more thrilled to present Ashley Perry as our latest Mover and Shaker!  We don't know why statistics say they are #2 in the world because we think they are #1.  Peachy Deegan interviewed Ashley Perry for Whom You Know.  She was previously featured in this DAYLIGHT feature in April:

Peachy Deegan: What was your first computer experience and how did it lead you to where you are today?
Ashley Perry: One my first and most memorable computer experiences was playing Oregon Trail on an Apple IIe in 6th grade. I remember thinking, THIS IS AWESOME! I was a geek at heart from that day forward.

What do you think sets Lenovo apart from your competitors?
Personal technology devices are our passion, but we care about yours! What do you do? How can our products help you do it better? That's what our "For Those Who Do" campaign is all about.

What are the most exciting aspects of Lenovo as a brand and your position in particular?
Our products are fantastic. We're the #2 PC company in the world, we've been the fastest growing for 11 quarters, and we have so much more opportunity to grow by increasing our brand awareness. When I tell people where I work, some people still ask, "What kind of company is that?" and I have to explain. As we enter the PC+ Era with our current momentum, we have HUGE potential and as a marketeer that's extremely exciting!

What innovations are on the horizon and how will they impact both businesses and consumers worldwide?
There are a lot of great innovations on the horizon. Overall, we're raising the bar with stronger, faster, lighter and more optimized devices in every category. One of my favorites is our new and innovative line of ultrabooks! They're awesome!

What or who has had the most influence on your pursuit of excellence?
I have worked with a lot of great people who have helped me along the way, but one of my favorite quotes by Calvin Coolidge has always reminded me, regardless of circumstances, to press on: "Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent." I love this quote and it has inspired more times than I can count.
[Note from Peachy: We like it too:

What are you proudest of and why?
One of the things I'm really proud of is my job. I truly enjoy what I do and I get to share my passion for technology with others.

What would you like to do professionally that you have not yet had the opportunity to do?
I currently travel in North America for work and love it. I would enjoy having the opportunity to travel outside of North America for work as well.

What honors and awards have you received in your profession?
One of the great things about being a Lenovo Ambassador is working with the Press Team. When we work with the Press Team, we are helping the company to win various awards and we are honored to have this unique opportunity.

What is your favorite place to be in Manhattan?
Central Park. It's so cool how that amazingly peaceful park is surrounded by skyscrapers and the hustle and bustle of NYC.

What is your favorite shop in Manhattan?
This may sound weird but I love FAO Schwarz. It's such a neat store and brings out your inner child!

What is your favorite drink?
I am hooked on Chai Tea Lattes. I try them everywhere I go. One of my favorites is from Stumptown Coffee in Manhattan.

What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you at a cocktail party?
I honestly can not think of anything. I guess I'm either boring or lucky!

What is your favorite restaurant in Manhattan?
Smith & Wollensky - my fiance and I both love it!

What is your favorite Manhattan book?
My favorite story about a book in Manhattan is Serendipity...I also like the restaurant.

Who would you like to be for a day and why?
I would like to be one of our Lenovo engineers. I spend so much time talking about our innovation and amazing engineering that it would be invaluable to me to actually live a day in their shoes.

If you could have anything in Manhattan named after you what would it be and why?
An avenue. That would be pretty awesome.

What has been your best Manhattan athletic experience?
I'm not sure it's the best, but certainly the most memorable: Running about 30 blocks in heels in the pouring rain with my future sister-in-law to get Gluten Free Pizza at Mozzarelli's. She said it was worth it!

What is your favorite thing to do in Manhattan that you can do nowhere else?
I love Christmas in the city. It's beautiful and really puts you in the spirit of the season!

If you could have dinner with any person living or passed, who would it be and why?
My grandma. I really miss her and one more dinner would be amazing.

What has been your best Manhattan art or music experience?
I grew up in Maine and I was in the band in high school. Our 9th grade band trip was to NY and that was my first trip to the city. Talk about country mouse in the city! I LOVED it! Ever since that trip, I wanted to live in New York.

What do you personally do or what have you done to give back to the world?
Working at Lenovo, I am part of a company that provides products that enable people to do AMAZING things! For example: Some of our ThinkStaitons are currently being used to help accelerate cancer research.

What do you think is most underrated and overrated here?
Underrated: There are plenty of nice people in NY; Overrated: Riding in a NYC taxi.

Other than Movers and Shakers of course, what is your favorite Whom You Know column and what do you like about it?
Shop with Peachy! It has lots of great info.

Have you drank The Peachy Deegan yet and if not, why not?
I have not but I would love to try it! It's on my TO DO list.
