NIGHTLIGHT: SensOfWine NYC at Cipriani

On February 20, Peachy Deegan attended the excellent presentation at Cipriani: SensofWine NYC, Luca Maroni's highly successful wine tasting. More than 500 of the best Italian wines from the top Italian wine producers were featured at 39 tables, and she made it to 23 of them.

Held at Cipriani 42nd Street, the event was organized in collaboration with the New York-based wine and food society, Alta Cucina. Over 100 wineries were shown in the walk-around wine tasting.

Participating wineries are listed:

Each of the wine producers invited to exhibit is featured in Maroni’s 2009 Top 500 Italian Wine Producers wine guide book. Peachy recorded each wine she tasted by producer, by wine. Her ratings are available upon request.

SensofWine 2008 was most recently held in Rome on November 29 and 30. Over 15,000 consumers attended the tasting of over 1,000 wines from more than 300 wineries. This was the 4th year that Maroni hosted his 2-day SensofWine event in Rome. “After four years of positive feed back and terrific turn out, I thought that the time was right to bring SensofWine on the road. The obvious first stop was New York City as New York is one of the most important cities for Italian wines outside of Italy,” says Maroni.

Maroni’s professional wine expertise ranges from evaluating wines (using his famed wine evaluating method), writing numerous books and articles on wines and wine tasting, and hosting wines tasting events for the wine-loving public. Luca Maroni is a wine institute in Italy and he hopes to win over the American palate.

The format reminded Peachy Deegan of a grown-up version of Mod Golf, if you went to or visited that school in Chestnut Hill that on occasion hosted such an activity!

Have a great weekend!

Cheers
Peachy Deegan
