New York City based singer/songwriter Dion Roy has officially released his much anticipated debut album, entitled “Gallery.” Whom You Know thinks it is original, well-written, and perfect for summer listening.

The album, currently available on the artist’s official website, www.dionroy.com, as well as iTunes and Amazon, features ten tracks written and performed by this indie newcomer whose music fuses his electro-acoustic roots with his knack for writing an unforgettable pop/rock hook.

Born in Namibia, raised in South Africa and New Jersey and now a true New Yorker at heart, Dion Roy picked up his first guitar in his early teens and hasn’t stopped strumming since. A former group bassist turned solo artist, Dion Roy’s biggest strength lies in his ability to craft poignant songs that sound both familiar and totally fresh.

The ten-track album “Gallery” features songs whose themes include addictive love (“Come Back Around”) and failed relationships (“Wants It”) with the common thread throughout these diverse songs is Dion Roy’s unique combination of catchy pop hooks with brooding, raw emotionality.

His blend of pop, rock and folk has drawn comparisons to other singer/songwriters like Ryan Adams and Pete Yorn, as well as electronic bands such as Postal Service and Snow Patrol. But what distinguishes this young artist is his genuine lack of pretense and his guarded nature. He almost never reveals the stories behind his songs, encouraging his fans to find their own connection to the words.

Dion Roy will be celebrating his debut release with a CD release party and exclusive performance at Arctica in New York City on June 9th. For touring dates and other information, visit his official site at www.DionRoy.com
