Round Two:

With no apprehension today since I came once before, I marched down Madison Avenue looking in all the store windows like Eres with the fabulous bathing suits.  Unlike other years though, this year I won't have to deal with shaving, waxing, or any of the nonsense associated with hair removal-thanks to Advanced Derma Laser!  I am so so so psyched to see the end result after the many treatments and can't wait to go today to make more progress!  As it was a lovely day the weather inspired my thoughts to better weather, and when this process is complete later this year the only hair I will have to worry about is the mane on my head.

When I arrived at Advanced Derma Laser, the staff graciously took my name and my wait was brief although they are obviously a busy office.    If you do need to wait, the waiting room is spacious and you will be well-entertained by the variety of magazines.  It looks out onto Madison Avenue!  Jennifer took me right away and first we discussed what was going to happen today.  Jennifer is very easy to talk to and a real perfectionist with many years of experience.  She makes everyone feel at ease.

Again, she first wiped down with water the areas that would be "zapped" with the laser.  On the spots on my face, I wore the little silver spectacles.  When the laser zaps you you see a flash of red with the spectacles on but just for a minute.  It is a bit like your own personal fireworks show while the professional work is being done.  It takes just seconds to zap just a hint of a unibrow or a stray hair here or there, and the thought that you will never have to deal with that hair again when the treatments are over is amazing.

When Jennifer uses the laser on areas away from your face you wear cool white glasses with turquoise lenses.  You will feel like you are looking through the ocean, dreaming of how perfect it will be to be hairless, looking fabulous in a bikini sitting in water that blue.

Next we did my underarms.  You do smell a bit of a singe when the hair is zapped but that is part of the process...you will forget about it.  When I was watching the Golden Globes last night looking at the Stars on the red carpet I wondered how many of them have been smart enough to go for laser hair removal.  Jennifer also is the ultimate professional when doing the bikini area and I was not worried at all.  She is such a perfectionist and even if you are a fussy person you will be pleased.   Because I am not a very hairy person, it is harder to do this work on me but Jennifer was up for the challenge.  And she has been successful!   None of this is painful, it is just a bit shocking but you get used to it after a zap or two.  Even if you find it uncomfortable it is over before you know it.

The staff is super-organized-as I left and stopped in the waiting room to make my next appointment I saw my folder was out and ready.  The entire process is spaced out in six week intervals, so the next visit will be in early March.  I am happy to hear that laser hair removal is just as popular with men as with women in Manhattan and today when I walked in I saw men leaving.  If you have ever considered laser hair removal I would absolutely do it at Advanced Derma Laser with Jennifer.  If you have not considered it, you should!
