WALLY FINDLAY GALLERY TO CELEBRATE WORKS OF GUSTAVO NOVOA; PARTNER WITH SCIENTISTS PROTECTING THE BIG CATS THAT INSPIRED HIS WORK Chilean artist will join prominent big cat researchers from Panthera at a special preview of the artist’s 35 year retrospective of wild cats

Wally Findlay Galleries will present the work of Gustavo Novoa, the world-renowned painter whose work embodies the soul of an environmental champion, at a special invitation only preview at their New York gallery. Known for his depictions of surreal still lifes and dream-like jungle scenes, Novoa’s work has been showcased in one-man shows around the world.

Novoa’s epic landscape and wildlife painting exhibition will also embrace a survey collection by photographer Steve Winter’s images of big cats in the wild. In his work for the show’s charity partner Panthera, Winter has been stalked by jaguars in Brazil and stuck in quicksand while shooting images at the world’s largest tiger reserve in Myanmar. He also recently captured never before seen images of the elusive snow leopard in the mountains of Mongolia.

Panthera founder and CEO Alan Rabinowitz will also attend this groundbreaking gallery event. Recognized as the grandfather of big cat research, Rabinowitz has traveled the world to study jaguars, tigers, and clouded and Asiatic leopards. His many accomplishments include work in Belize resulting in the world's first jaguar sanctuary and the creation of the world’s largest tiger reserve in Myanmar. Rabinowitz has authored nearly eighty scientific articles and six books, including his most recent Life in the Valley of Death: The fight to save tigers in a land of guns, gold, and greed.
Panthera will be the beneficiary of donations made during the event and proceeds from the sale of one of the major works if it is sold during the run of the show.
