Champagne Wishes: Emma Pearl 2009 Chardonnay Recommended by Whom You Know

Emma Pearl Wine hails from vineyards located on California's Central Coast. The Chardonnay vineyards are located in Santa Barbara County where they are subjected to lots of sunshine and coastal breezes. The 2009 Emma Pearl Chardonnay is really lovely. Chardonnay is not usually my first choice in a white wine, however, this one may very well be! Aged for nine months, this Chardonnay saw optimal weather conditions (below average rainfall in the winter and a cool spring and summer) which resulted in a very well balanced wine! This 90% Chardonnay, 10% Viognier is both fruity and buttery which lends itself to pairing with either light appetizers or a main dish such as lemon chicken. It can also be enjoyed on its own, which is how I chose to sample this wine. I found this Chardonnay to be light, but rich, creamy and full. Nova Cadamatre joined the Emma Pearl wine-making team in July 2009 and ushered in this fabulous Chardonnay. Ms. Cadamatre brings a great deal of knowledge and experience to Emma Pearl and obviously knows how to produce a top notch wine! The Emma Pearl 2009 Chardonnay is presented in an elegant bottle enticing the prospective customer to bring it home and give it a try. This Chardonnay will not disappoint. It is the perfect way to end a summer evening!

When I'm shopping for a nice bottle of wine, I tend to pick the ones that look the most fabulous. Upon seeing this bottle of Emma Pearl's 2009 Chardonnay I knew that this wine was for me! This stylish bottle of wine comes from California's central coast and is crafted by winemaker Nova Cadamatre. The wine uses only premium fruit and can be attributed to its central coast origin in Santa Barbara county. I enjoyed this bottle of wine with a few of my girlfriends that came over for a late lunch. I served some cheese, fruit and crackers as an appetizer. This paired with the wine was perfect! My friends were battling over the last few drops left in the bottle! This Chardonnay has aromas of pears and caramel, making it sweet, but not too sweet. The wine also has a great texture and doesn't taste too dry. Instead, it has a nice, crisp finish to it which leaves you wanting more. If you haven't tried Emma Pearl's 2009 Chardonnay yet, make sure you do. You won't be disappointed!

Chardonnay has to be one of my all time favorite wines. It doesn't last long at my house. I was so excited to see a new brand of chardonnay. I've tried various vintage years of Chardonnay and I have to say 2009 has to be my favorite. With this wine, I noticed an aroma of pears and caramel right away. After tasting, I could taste a hint of cinnamon and cloves. All of these ingredients are favorites of mine separately and why I love this wine so much. It has a very smooth taste, which almost makes you forget that you are drinking wine. I paired this wine with a few different dishes as well as appetizers. I really like chardonnay with cheese. It was very good with chicken as well. This will be a wine that I will keep stocked at my house.

As temperatures in NYC soared to triple digits, I sat serenely in my apartment, letting my cares roll away. The cause of the smile that crept over my face as I put my feet up and curled up with a book? The Emma Pearl 2009 Chardonnay that was magically calming me, cooling me, and providing me with a much needed mental vacation. Part of the inaugural release from this boutique collection of wines, the chardonnay is beautifully packaged with a simple yet elegant blue label, which gives it a soft, feminine charm, to go along with its name. As I took a hefty sniff of the wine in my glass, I felt my shoulders go down about two inches! The aroma was warm and inviting, with hints of roasted pears, caramel, and buttercream. Upon taking my first sip, I was impressed with the creaminess and round, substantial mouthfeel. The buttery sweet favors were marked by a crisp, citrusy finish, with just a hint of cinnamon. To my mind, this delightful offering from Emma Pearl is the ultimate "comfort food" of white wines. I chose to simply enjoy the wine on its own the first night I had it, which was highly enjoyable. The next evening, though, I paired it with brie, crackers, and grapes, and I found it to be an equally pleasant experience! It is an immensely drinkable wine, and would make a terrific gift - whether for a friend, colleague, or oneself!

Crisp and cool, Emma Pearl 's new Chardonnay, once chilled, lends itself to a dreamy summer evening. With a plate of Atwell's Gold from The New Amsterdam Market, drizzled with farmer's honey, and some ripe figs, this chardonnay is divine . Unobtrusive, with a creamy body and a crisp finish, this wine will challenge the white wine lovers market for a new title. Packaged in a hostess-perfect bottle, Emma Pearl is the perfect gift to delight any gathering. Women! take note: the eye appeal is evident (the name says it all) with the almost-tiffany blue label. The Chardonnay from this boutique collection hails from the Central Coast of California. Introduced just this year, the 2009 offers a fruitful wine experience. Appealing to a target audience of ladies -who- lunch with their friends, the wine stands on it's own. The appeal is thoroughly packaged, and we can see this wine making it's way into Victorian lovers circles. Luncheons, meetings and gathering of tender writers/philosophers will all be enhanced with Emma Pearl present. Use one bottle for the base of a "wine country gazpacho" , as per the Emma Pearl website, and another bottle to savor the menu, your company, and the evening. Savor the pear and caramel notes. From a lover of crisp white wines, this comes as a delight. Perfect as you soak in an herbal bath, relaxing at the end of another busy day.

2009 Chardonnay

The Region: Our Chardonnay vineyards are located in Santa Barbara County, an outstanding sub-region on the Central Coast. Just north of the gracious colonial enclave of Santa Barbara, our estate Chardonnay vines enjoy abundant sunshine and cool coastal breezes.

The 2009 Vintage: The 2009 vintage produced wines of excellent quality. The winter months saw below average rainfall, followed by a cool spring and summer, which led to slow maturing fruit. Optimal ripening conditions and gentle heat spikes in September resulted in full flavor development to complement the natural acidity in the grapes. Moderate temperatures leading into harvest resulted in exceptionally balanced Chardonnay.

Winemaking Notes: The fruit was picked at peak flavor ripeness to maintain fresh citrus and pear notes. It was fermented on oak to add toasty spice notes and put through partial malolactic fermentation to add a buttery complexity. The wine was aged on lees for 9 months prior to blending.

Tasting Notes: With aromas of poached pears, caramel, butter cream, and brown baking spices, this inaugural vintage of Emma Pearl Chardonnay highlights the best attributes of its Central Coast origin. It has a rich texture in the mouth with a full, creamy body and crisp finish with lingering notes of Meyer lemons, toasted cinnamon and sweet cloves.

Pairing Suggestions: Wonderful to sip by itself or to pair with light appetizers such as brie and water crackers or main dishes of lemon butter chicken.
