Don't mess with Texas!
Or, Cooper and Daniella.
Some might say it's a little Lucy and Ethel or Thelma and Louise, but we say it's better!  Modern, relevant, and fresh hilarity is found right from the start of Hot Pursuit, coming out nationwide tomorrow by our favorite, Warner Brothers Pictures.
Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara team up for a most unlikely pair: Reece plays an "uptight and by-the-book cop" which Reese likens to a Yorkie dog, Cooper while Sofia plays Daniella Riva, who's being protected by Cooper since Daniella becomes the widow of a drug boss.  We've always loved Reese, and she was most recently reviewed in The Good Lie, while we recently commended Sofia in The Chef.
Reese and Sofia are both at their best throughout Hot Pursuit, and not only is their chemistry perfect, but also the golden script.
Veteran comedy director Anne Fletcher says: "It's something of a modern-day female 'Odd Couple' sort of buddy comedy, with Reese Witherspoon playing the wild and crazy one and Sofia Vergara playing the straight man-or in this case, woman.  But Reese's cop is so normal she's a little off, and Sofia's trophy mob wife is a lot more resourceful than she seems."  Reese and Sofia are producer and executive producer, respectively in addition to their starring roles.
Sofia and Reese had never met prior to Hot Pursuit.
"Sofia is so interesting to watch and has a great sense of comedic timing and relatability.  We are a complete mismatch physically; it was clear to me the second we met that we would make a good pair because not only did we have a great rapport, but she's so tall and composed, next to her I felt short and funny.  I knew we could play with that," comments Witherspoon.
Do you know that Cooper even becomes a verb?
How fun is that.
They become close.
Very.
"I wanted to do this role because I wanted to work with Reese," Vergara agrees.  "I thought we'd make a good combination, the way that I am and the way that she is and what we could both bring to the movie.  It was also the first time that I was going to be an executive producer on a film and Reese has experience doing that, so I thought it would be nice for me to work with her for that reason also."
The situation in Get Hard automatically lent itself to funny, it was so far out.
The same thing happens here with the plot, which is not complex but executed expertly.
And why are shoes so important to Daniella Riva?
The comedic timing of Witherspoon and Vergara is clutch and a complete gold-medal winning performance.  Additionally, the word choice and verbiage is key and delivered without a hitch.
In contrast to some serious roles we've seen her in, we might like Reese even better in comedy!
Hot Pursuit is absolutely the most fun you can have this weekend, and we are confident that this is the commencement of the summer blockbuster season for 2015!
What else can we say?
OH DEER!  Our favorite part.
Hot Pursuit is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.
See it starting tomorrow in America!
