Escargots a la Bourguignonne, Peachy's personal favorite edible at La Sirene
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we have known La Sirene downtown by owner Didier Pawlicki for years.
It was last featured three years ago in 2019:
and was first featured earlier in 2018:
The downtown location was featured as a Peachy's Pick first in 2015:
From every angle the La Sirene Salade du Marche is a winner!  Salads are the perfect start to every dinner.
Quality, colorful bursts of nutrition emerge in House Mixed Fresh Leaf Lettuce, Radicchio and Endive Salad embellished with diced Mango, diced Apple, tomatoes and radishes.  Artfully arranged, this salad ensures your nutrition hits the high points in this time when it is more important than ever to be healthy.  This is La Sirene's first Whom You Know feature since Covid.
Is there anything better than piping hot French Onion soup in the dead of winter?  If your February isn't exciting enough you haven't been eating this gem.  Soupe a l'oignon gratinee is expertly crafted with vegetarian stock and is rich, hearty and bubbling with excitement in the form of delicious cheese luxuriating on a bed of generous onions.
Bien sur mes amies they give you the correct spoon.
A challenge for many restaurants we've seen through our 13 years of writing them up is achieving a high level of consistency.  This is the first time we visited without Lyon Pawlicki at the head of the kitchen (visit his talents in Paris now!) and we can verify that both the onion soup and the escargots are just as terrific as ever, hitting the high marks on consistency.
You are in for a treat if you have the parfait Escargots a la Bourguignonne: roasted escargots are gloriously stuffed with butter, garlic, shallot and parsley in perfect proportion and naturally exude excellence in every bite.  They are by far our favorite menu item and the pronounced exquisite French flavor is simply superlative, splendide, magnifique!  We certainly missed them over the last three years and they are exactly as great as we remember.
Our pictures do not lie.  You excel like Didier, or you are not published.  Meet the Mussels in French Caribbean style!
Don't hate them because they're beautiful.  Eat them!
There are four ways we count that you can enjoy mussels at La Sirene Upper West Side and this signature dish of theirs sets them apart.  Gorgeously steamed in a pink sauce accentuated with Rum, heavy cream, herbs and mild spices and carnivorously bumped up with chorizo, these mussels are like no other mussels you have feasted upon and the fantastic flavor of the southern limits will put some sparkle in your winter especially.
If you are the kind of person that likes something warm and cheesy and who doesn't when it is in the teens with the windchill (Fahrenheit not Celsius, silly), the decadent brilliance of the Gnocchi Parisian au Gratin is second to none.  NOTE this is from PARIS bien sur not Italy.  You are going to be in love with the Truffles, Mornay (white sauce) and opulent swiss cheese and the aroma that greets you will silence any and all conversation so you can be one with your Gnocci Parisian.  Didier calls this his French Mac and Cheese and we quite concur.  This was our favorite entree.
If you are into Les Poissons, opt for the Pave de Saumon poele et Friscassee de Shiitake au Porto which of course is Seared Salmon waltzing in stewed Shiitake with Port Wine Jus.  Delivered as ordered, Medium Rare, this was a wonderful light dish that is just right for dinner.   A Classic not to be ignored is the Onglet poele a la Luchonaise: 7oz slowly seared, butter only Hanger Steak with roasted garlic and parsley, also Medium Rare and with french fries, it absolutely hits the spot.  Though there is a range of wines including a French Malbec we tried, the Bordeaux is absolutely the best in our opinion and pairs perfectly with the steak.
They still have the side of vegetables which we applaud.
This time we worked with Executive Chef Jose Louis and he suggested we try the Duck as well:
The sumptuous elegance of the Seared Moulard Duck Breast with Michigan's Cranberry Glaze is another undeniable winner with knockout flavor by La Sirene, and the seamless transition from one Executive Chef to another here is a hallmark of an excellent restaurant, particularly in these challenging times.
