Veteran General Manager of Vanny, Chris Ryan, whom we have worked with and recommended since 2015! The Lake House at Van Cortlandt Golf Course is twelve years old and owned by Golf NYC.
Situated in the NW corner of the Bronx, the Lake House offers views of the beautiful 18 acre Van Cortlandt Lake from its 2500+ square feet outdoor deck. We will show it to you on a day it's not raining! Catering to both the public and golfers, this full bar and grill is simply delicious with All-American flair that has our name all over it. For a successful round of golf, one must be well-fed and properly caffeinated and with that, drumroll please, we are thrilled to present our first ever Peachy's Picks Golf and Peachy's Picks The Bronx! In a dual fashion, this column begins with a quintessential New York essential: the Bacon, Egg and Cheese and it is the best one we've had ANYWHERE this season! It was truly the piece de resistance of this whole review. The roll was fresh, the egg was cooked perfectly, the bacon was carnivorously divine and the cheddar was simply sensational. The Columbian coffee was fresh and invigorating and the essential milk from a cow that Peachy absolutely must have was fresh and perfect.
Say Enchante to Sous Chef Arnaud Ba, and say Bravo once you bit into the Bacon Egg and Cheese.
We go nearly nowhere for breakfast, but when you are attached to eighteen holes and you cook this well, we are convinced!
So, then we golfed, which was super fun and this course was recommended by us in 2015 and in 2024. Sadly, Peachy spends far more time on the computer than on the links however we aim to change that. Three out of four years at Miss Porter's she golfed as a spring sport and her short game is good.
By around the 12th hole, we had drinks on the turn with super friendly and hospitable Alicia Alvarez, the Turn Attendant with a smile!
Looks like they knew we were coming! Peachy drinks!
Toby our golfing buddy was happy to partake in our post-18 hole celebration and note in rain or shine, Vanny is still a blast! Oooh la la Mademoiselle Peachy was psyched to see they have Perrier.
No one should be surprised that Peachy's first choice was the classic cheeseburger, which arrives in style with cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato and red onions. It totally hit the spot and french fries successfully sang backup. We sipped on Stella which was the perfect liquid companion!
If you love Buffalo Chicken and Blue Cheese like Toby, this wrap is where its at when you wrap up your eighteen holes. All items we encountered were fresh and terrific, and testament to why this venue has been a success for twelve years and counting. Chicken Cheese Quesadillas will light up your life with their hearty wholesome goodness and fragrant salsa and satisfying sour cream to putt into. Obviously dinner tastes better after you have had fun on the golf course!

Finally, on the healthier side, meet the Grilled Chicken Caesar Wrap which comes with greens that will remind you of exactly where you are.
About Our Venue
The interior and exterior of the Lake House at Van Cortlandt Golf Course has very recently undergone a major renovation.
The Lake House is located in the North West corner of the Bronx, only several short miles from the border with Westchester County. The Lake House is so named because of its proximity to Van Cortlandt Lake. It has a 2,500+ sq. ft. outdoor deck with lovely views of the lake. Of course both the Lake House and the lake are located in Van Cortlandt Park.
In addition to the outdoor experience for events, there is a 2,000+ sq. ft. interior of the clubhouse. With black walnut wood flooring and white accents the room is elegant. A fireplace and seating area at one end of the room is surrounded by numerous golf relics and pictures of the original course when it was opened in 1885. This step into the past serves as a reminder of the rich heritage of Van Cortlandt Golf Course, the oldest public golf course in America.
This venue is perfect for weddings, engagements, anniversaries, birthdays, bridal and baby showers, or any other special occasions you would like to celebrate with family and friends.
LAKE HOUSE CAFÉ
Catering to both the public and golfers, this full bar and grill provides a quality meal at a competitive price. Whether you are finishing a round of golf with your friends or you happen to pass by on your walk through the park, our friendly staff will make sure you feel at home. With three flat screen televisions, the bar serves as an excellent place to watch your favorite sporting events.
