A Peachy's Pick Since 2015, #OldTown #OldTownBarandRestaurant Est. 1892 by #GerardMeagher and the #MeagherFamily Fall 2025 #WhomYouKnow #PeachyDeegan @ManhattanPeachy 45 East 18th Street New York, New York 10003

All hail the stupendous, sensational, superlative cheeseburger by the Meagher Family!
Owner Gerard Meagher who owns Old Town Bar and Restaurant with his brothers and sisters
What do the very best in Manhattan do?
They get better!
Everything that's old is new again at Old Town, and the latest and greatest is that the five booths downstairs have had their wood stripped to allow the natural wood to emerge from its original brilliance which may date all the way back to 1892...none of us were around that year yet so we cannot verify this!
We can verify that the new look is simply stunning and classic!
Owner Gerard Meagher shows us how gorgeous they are.
They are beautiful and comfortable from every angle.
Perfectly medium rare as ordered, Old Town Bar and Restaurant does it right the first time with smashing results of carnivorous juicy deliciousness!  This is the stuff burger dreams are made of and in the uber-competitive burger climate of Manhattan, Old Town Bar and Restaurant consistently hits burger home runs.
Avid readers know of the ten years we have been bragging about the culinary feats here, we have told you that Peachy Deegan did not like ANYONE'S chili and thought it always quite frankly seemed like the nourishment of a canine to us.  However, this all changed when we had our first mouthful of this decadent carnivorous wonder by Gerard Meagher.  Having a bowl of chili at Old Town Bar and Restaurant is truly one of life's best simple pleasures.  The quality of the meat, the proportion of the sour cream and cheese to it, the well-diced onions and the spectacular flavor never ceases to amaze us.
We are zeroing in on the salad dressing here: say enchante to the creamy garlic and cracked peppercorn!
We cannot overemphasize the brilliance of this bespoke salad dressing that we can only find here, and for someone that doesn't like 99 percent of the salad dressing market, Peachy Deegan loves this one.
Meet the triumphant steak salad which has of course perfectly medium rare steak as the star with swiss cheese singing backup along with a bevy of fresh vegetables to balance it out beautifully.

You are a winner like Gerard Meagher and family with your culinary talents or we do not publish.
From every angle, the Chicken Quesadilla is baked perfection from the juicy chicken inside partying with oozy delicious cheese to the elements it vaults into with the cannonball of your hand into the respective salsa and sour cream, the usual suspects.  Old Town steps it up a notch with their queso secret weapon which you will not find anywhere else!  And, for whatever you order, the House Salad is exactly what you should be eating along with it and of course you need to meet the beloved creamy garlic and cracked peppercorn in its unique commanding spot of the salad dressing market.
There are certain items like the cheeseburger and chili that we dream about and we have to absolutely have to make sure we check for excellence consistency, and sometimes we try something we don't remember having before.  The sleeper hit of the menu right now and pay attention people that don't eat meat or fish: the mushrooms and munster cheese (Cork City where Peachy once lived is in the Munster area of Ireland!) are a revelation in pumpernickel that totally hit the spot on a brisk fall day.  Even if you eat practically everything like Peachy on this all-American menu of perfection, you should have it because sings quality in every decadent bite.
If you are at Old Town Bar and Restaurant for a drink and want to split something for just a little bite to eat, opt for the sensational spinach and artichoke dip: creamy and inviting with just the right amount of pita to make it pop generously on each triangle.
The fish sandwich was exactly what we were looking to feature for something on the lighter side, and it's joined by perfectly crisp lettuce, tomato and red onion with the formidable tartar sauce.
From every angle the Apple Strudel is a beacon of fall wonder with just the right hint of spices and pastry ratio, and it really steps it up with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream to make it totally wow you!
Old Town Bar and Restaurant by the Meagher family continues to Earn Our Highest Recommendation.
