Superstar waiters do not grow on trees!
They are absolute shining stars and the brightest at Il Cortile is ARCANGELO VOLPE!!!!
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and everyone knows we are committed to finding the very best everywhere and work with owners directly only. Obviously, Little Italy legend Sal Esposito is captain of the ship here and we love him so much he has his own show with Peachy, Little Italy with Sal and Peachy watch all nine episodes! When we have worked with you for a dozen years, we know the very best waiters too in addition to the owners. To mix it up for the 50 year celebration, we invited Arcangelo Volpe, Bari Italy native to share the latest and greatest at Il Cortile with you!
So yes, we returned to the table that is specifically for James Gandolfini and were honored to honor him and the Sopranos; you ought to be reading Bobby and Christopher's book! Steve Schirripa is the greatest and Peachy absolutely loved meeting him in person and whomever said you shouldn't meet your heroes never met him. He is EVEN BETTER than you might think! Michael maybe we will meet you someday....so, what did Peachy eat to celebrate 50 years at Il Cortile?
From every angle, this is clearly the best burrata in town. Under antipasti, (appetizers!), Burrata Mozzarella perfectly perches on a super tomato slice with just the right touch of evoo and is further accentuated with roasted pear, basil, and balsamic glaze. Il Cortile uses the best ingredients so it does not need to disguise its burrata with lesser flavors and trendy nonsense that will inevitably come and go. Avid readers know Il Cortile has been one of our favorites for many years and has been a Peachy's Pick since 2013.
We are proponents of a green salad with every meal and the TriColore celebrates Italian pride with the colors of the flag: radicchio, arugula and endives, all amazingly fresh. We love to add a protein and at Il Cortile, we are told your choices are grilled chicken, grilled shrimp or salmon and we chose salmon which was the perfect addition, ideally grilled. Note pictures are not edited and you excel like Sal and team in order for us to proclaim your culinary glory!
A glass of Chianti was ideal for Peachy, and you should know the wine list is absolutely extensive at Il Cortile and is sure to impress you. The Capellini Special is has been an enduring classic at Il Cortile for ages boasting tremendous consistency with prosciutto baked on top of a light marinara vodka sauce with mushrooms and peas culminating in a delicious extravaganza.
Il Cortile continues to Earn Our Highest Recommendation.
