Peachy Deegan's favorite: The Cannelloni!
"Money should not be the reason why you open a business. It should be the result."
-Founder and Owner of Osteria 57 and One Hospitality Group, Emanuele Nigro
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Emanuele Nigro Founder and Majority Owner of One More Hospitality Group and native of Milan, Italy (and click here for his hat trick, one off the ice...) ! Previously in early 2025, he earned accolades for Osteria 57, Alice, and Pamina.Today, we have found even more reasons why your stomach is glad he came to the USA in 2006! It is more difficult today to be featured as an Italian restaurant for the first time than it ever was because chances are, over the last seventeen years we have visited what we believe are the most compelling among the Italian from Italy and Italian American venues in Manhattan, and beyond Manhattan.
There are amazing salads all over Manhattan, and the best Peachy's Picks are in Sensational Salad. The Market Salad of Travelers Poets and Friends is commendable, with upscale greenmarket vegetables of artisan quality: fennel, carrots, radish, halved cherry tomatoes, chickpeas and they listened and put the dressing on the side for Ms. Pretty Picky as she requested it. The vegetable talents do not end there: most incredible were the Smoked Beets! We do not remember ever having them anywhere before and they're house-smoked in this palate-enhancing nutritious temptation, which although we make no medical claims, surmise is quite good for you. The beets are joined by a garlic puree and toasted pistachio, which really ups the wow factor.
The brushed beet accent was also pretty!
From every angle, the Bietole All'Arrabbiata of sauteed swiss chard and spicy tomato sauce was gorgeous, and the uplifting flavor combination we believe has wide appeal. It's a selection from the Italo Garden section of the menu, and under Piccolo, meet Polpette of perfection. The meatballs of beef and pork boast fabulous consistency and luxuriate in house-made tomato sauce and grilled bread.
This inaugural visit, we were delighted to meet and work with Executive Chef Simone Venturini, of Liguria, Italy. Everyday pasta is made in house here, and from the Lasagna Bolognese of an ideal beef and pork composition paired with triumphant spinach dough in a favorite hue of Peachy's, they showed us they are in it to win it. It ravishes your palate with bechamel and Parmigiano Reggiano and proves that style and talent yields quality and this is no boring run-of-the-mill lasagna. It is much better! Peachy's favorite however was the Cannelloni: tube-shaped pasta winning you over filled with ricotta and spinach bechamel and tomato sauce. The flavor and quality was utterly superior and we love it.
The menu also has style and it does not say entree: it says Grande.
We love shrimp and not only because Peachy is as tall as one!
It's also because of the flavor of course, and to that end we are thrilled to introduce you to what we believe is the first shrimpburger of our life: meet the shrimp patty on a homemade black squid ink bun, charred tomatoes, frisee, and sumptuous scallion mayo. They really hit it out of the park with delicious creativity here. Some places that are trendy overdo their ideas and come up with items that turn our stomach that we would never tell you about and waste your time with. This Shrimpburger deserves your time, especially if it is a Friday in Lent.
We also appreciate the nod to America with the cheeseburger on the menu. Some Europeans forget that they are in America and do not indulge American tastes. The Travelers signature patty luxuriates on a homemade bun with provolone, caramelized onions, inventive, tasty smoked mayo and fries and was perfection.
Perfectly medium rare, cut by Peachy (who is not a chef!)
The final firework was Branzino, and if you have not read our 31,000 other posts, be aware that we do not edit pictures. You win like Emanuele and Simone or we do not publish: that's it! Joined by superbly sliced summer squash and a smashing salmorglio (sauce from Sicily with parsley, lemon, garlic garnish), the Branzino says don't hate me because I'm beautiful. Eat me.
Travelers, Poets and Friends impressed us immensely on our first visit and we can't wait to see what they do next.
