#MovietimeInManhattan #ClintEastwood #50Years @WBPictures WARNERMEDIA CELEBRATES 50 YEARS WITH CLINT EASTWOOD

In the American Entertainment Industry, there are two kinds of people.
Clint Eastwood, and everyone else.
We have worked with Warner Brothers continuously since our first opportunity in 2010, and we could not be more pleased to tell you that this phenomenal documentary on Clint has earned our Highest Recommendation.

You've got to ask yourself in this world of streaming everything and so much to find and sort through, do you feel lucky?  Well do you punk?  Of course you do because we found this gem for you.

From his start in spaghetti westerns which predates both Peachy's birth and the start of Whom You Know to his illustrious career as a Director, Clint Eastwood has proven again and again he is A-Number One, Top of the List, King of the Hill...and you know the last movie Peachy saw in a theatre before Covid was Richard Jewell, when she reviewed it for Warner Brothers.

The interviews obtained with actors from Kevin Bacon (super nice we have met him in person) and Tom Hanks (Rita Wilson is super nice too we have met her in person!) to Bradley Cooper and including Meryl Streep, Leonardo DiCaprio, Hilary Swank and Mel Gibson are pure gold.  They are on par with the brilliance of directors Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg, also included.  What they have to say from their first hand experience supersedes anything we say; however, given the opportunity to have first hand experience if he said jump we'd say how high.

What we love about Clint Eastwood is his timeless dedication to being an American Patriot and his belief in the common American.  He tells real stories without embellishment and his straightforward style sets the standard for excellence in Hollywood.  Clint's dedication to authenticity is both consistent and honest, and pulled off with signature flare.

A student of John Ford, John Wayne and Sergio Leone, Clint Eastwood surrounded himself with the talent of his predecessors which has proven the test of time.

We also like that he does it right the first time.  Not a million takes!

50 Years with Clint Eastwood has Earned Whom You Know's Highest Recommendation.
Go ahead, make your day.

At Whom You Know, we have simple taste.
We only like the best.
And Clint Eastwood is the greatest.
DIRTY HARRY, THE OUTLAW JOSIE WALES AND PALE RIDER

WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 4K RESOLUTION WITH

HIGH DYNAMIC RANGE (HDR)

You better feel lucky punk!  Three films from legendary filmmaker Clint Eastwood – Dirty Harry, The Outlaw Josie Wales and Pale Rider (40th anniversary), will be released for the first time on 4K Ultra HD and Digital on April 29.  Whom You Know has been honored to review every work by Clint Eastwood since we started working with Warner Brothers in 2010 and he is the greatest actor alive in the world.  Clint if you are reading, Peachy will act as absolutely anything!

Personally, Peachy loves Dirty Harry the most of the three.  San Francisco in the 1970s emblazons the screen taking you back to a time before the internet and cell phones!  It's fun to see of course Play Misty for Me on the movie marquis and we love Dirty Harry and his razor-sharp lines like "[he doesn't think he is] collecting for the Red Cross!"

2021 marked the 50th year of Clint Eastwood’s partnership with Warner Bros., which began in 1971 with the release of Dirty Harry. Over the course of his remarkable career, Eastwood, a 4-time Academy Award winner, has received a number of lifetime and career achievement honors, including the Motion Picture Academy’s Irving Thalberg Memorial Award and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Cecil B. DeMille Award. He has also garnered tributes from the Directors Guild of America, the Producers Guild of America, the Screen Actors Guild, the American Film Institute, the Film Society of Lincoln Center, the French Film Society, the National Board of Review, and the Henry Mancini Institute. He is also the recipient of a Kennedy Center Honor, the California Governor’s Award for the Arts, and France’s Commandeur de la Legion d’honneur.

#MovietimeinManhattan #ClintEastwood #BradleyCooper @WBHomeEnt #TheMule Highly Recommended by @ManhattanPeachy @WBPictures #WhomYouKnow THE STAKES KEEP GETTING HIGHER WHEN The Mule ARRIVES ONTO 4K ULTRA HD COMBO PACK, BLU-RAY™ COMBO PACK, DVD AND DIGITAL FROM WARNER BROS. HOME ENTERTAINMENT Own it Early on Digital on March 19 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD debut on April 2

You don't need us to tell you Clint Eastwood is a Hollywood Legend.
He represents what is best about entertainment today and his timeless appeal and intelligent film creation (which clearly Bradley Cooper is learning from in Directing-see our review for A Star is Born) is front and center in The Mule.  We love him.  It is a surefire formula for success putting Eastwood and Cooper together for anything at all, and your first clue was American Sniper.

Is there anything more fun and celebratory of being alive than the simple singing of "Aint that a Kick in the Head" and eating ice cream sandwiches with Clint Eastwood playing Earl Stone while he drives across America?
No.
This movie is a gas, gas, gas!  And not only because Earl's the driver who's covered 41 of the 50 states flawlessly like a boy scout.  This All-American fun-filled tale turns up some rough edges on the margins...we won't ruin the plot for you.
Earl spreads sunshine and joy wherever he goes, but it's not the kind you might think!  He's got a heart of gold and his mechanical mind even lends motorcycle advice to dykes on bikes.

We love the Americana theme and totally loved the VFW in The Mule.  Peachy has spent a lot of time at VFW's with her late grandfather, a World War II Purple Heart veteran.  We have tremendous respect and gratitude for all that have served our great country.  Here, the VFW is completely accurate to real life though Earl's success embellishes it beautifully for the big screen.

Spring is here, America, and one of the best ways to celebrate it is with Earl Stone winning the daylily competition and the opening scenes that weave a plot of intrigue when he falls on harder times and meets an opportunity at his granddaughter's wedding.  On the flip side of this venture is a Federal Agent, played by Bradley Cooper, Eastwood protege.

We can't WAIT to see what they might come up with next.  Except Earl, please remember that the damn internet does not ruin everything.  We're not the government, but we are here to help!

Time to take an adventure, and remember, DRIVE SAFELY!
The Mule is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.

Witness a man risk it it all when “The Mule” arrives on 4K UHD Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack, DVD and Digital. From Warner Bros. Pictures, Imperative Entertainment and BRON Creative comes Clint Eastwood’s newest feature film, the drama “The Mule.”

“The Mule” marks Eastwood’s first time on both sides of the camera since he starred in 2009’s critically acclaimed “Gran Torino.” In addition to directing, Oscar winner Clint Eastwood (“Unforgiven,” “Million Dollar Baby,” “Sully,” “American Sniper”) steps in front of the lens again, alongside fellow stars Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper (“A Star Is Born,” “American Sniper”), Oscar nominee Laurence Fishburne (“The Matrix,” “What’s Love Got to Do With It”), Michael Peña (“American Hustle,” “Cesar Chavez”), Oscar winner Dianne Wiest (“Hannah and Her Sisters,” “Bullets Over Broadway”) and Oscar nominee Andy Garcia (“Ocean’s Eleven,” “The Godfather: Part III”).

Inspired by a true story, Eastwood directed “The Mule” from a screenplay by Nick Schenk (“Gran Torino”). Eastwood also produced the film under his Malpaso banner, along with Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera and Jessica Meier, and Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas. The film’s executive producers are Dave Bernad, Ruben Fleischer, Todd Hoffman and Aaron L. Gilbert. Jillian Apfelbaum and David M. Bernstein co-produced.

Eastwood’s team behind the scenes includes director of photography Yves Bélanger (“Brooklyn,” “Dallas Buyers Club”) and production designer Kevin Ishioka (“The 15:17 to Paris”), along with longtime costume designer Deborah Hopper and Oscar-winning editor Joel Cox (“Unforgiven”), who have worked with Eastwood throughout the years on numerous projects. The music is by Arturo Sandoval.

But he isn’t the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates (Bradley Cooper). And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl’s past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it’s uncertain if he’ll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel’s enforcers, catch up to him.

#MovietimeInManhattan @WBPictures #ClintEastwood #CryMacho Recommended by @ManhattanPeachy Cry Macho COMES HOME FROM WARNER BROS. HOME ENTERTAINMENT Premium Digital Ownership debuts early on November 5 4K, Blu-ray and DVD arrive on December 7

Clint Eastwood is not only among the most talented in Hollywood but also sets the standard for longevity!  The latest and greatest by Warner Brothers and Clint is Cry Macho, debuting tomorrow for Home Entertainment.  Clint brings a seasoned humanity to his character Mike, who is on a mission to rescue a boy from Mexico.  Timely topics like border crossing, whom you can trust, and being a good influence permeate the script.  Clint and his character rise to the occasion.

Clint's character is a study on how to confront and deal with difficulty and challenging people!  A lot can be learned by watching him here.  His character exudes wisdom and his timeless charm is on full display.  This is the softer side of Clint Eastwood and Dirty Harry seems to have mellowed with time.

We took six years of French in school so have no idea what is going on when we hear Spanish.  We were glad to see English subtitles during grace however we dont see them for all spanish during this film.  The good news is that we are not certain Clint or his character speak Spanish either so we might be in good company.

Clint is brilliant however we feel the cast around him does not perform to his high quality work as it did in Gran Torino.  This is a small criticism of a great work however, akin to saying your glass of champagne is lacking in bubbles.

The use of color, light and music is highly effective throughout and gives the story a seamless quality.

Cry Macho is recommended by Whom You Know!

#MovietimeinManhattan #ClintEastwood #TheMule @WBPictures #WhomYouKnow CLINT EASTWOOD’S “THE MULE” BEGINS PRODUCTION THE DIRECTOR ALSO STARS, ALONGSIDE BRADLEY COOPER, LAURENCE FISHBURNE, MICHAEL PEÑA, DIANNE WIEST, ALISON EASTWOOD, TAISSA FARMIGA AND IGNACIO SERRICCHIO

Cameras rolled today on esteemed filmmaker Clint Eastwood’s next feature film, a drama entitled “The Mule,” from Warner Bros. Pictures and Imperative Entertainment. In addition to directing, the veteran actor will step in front of the lens again, alongside fellow stars Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña and Dianne Wiest, as well as Alison Eastwood, Taissa Farmiga and Ignacio Serricchio. Eastwood stars as Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well—so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isn’t the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl’s past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it’s uncertain if he’ll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel’s enforcers, catch up to him. “The Mule” marks Oscar-winner Eastwood’s first time on both sides of the camera since he starred in 2009’s critically acclaimed “Gran Torino.” Cooper, who stars as Bates, received his most recent Oscar nominations for his work with Eastwood, acting in and producing “American Sniper.” Oscar nominee Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It,” TV’s “Black-ish”) plays a DEA special agent in charge; Peña (upcoming “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” Netflix’s “Narcos”) plays a fellow agent; Oscar winner Wiest (“Bullets Over Broadway,” “Hannah and Her Sisters,” TV’s “Life in Pieces”) plays Earl’s ex-wife; Alison Eastwood (“Rails & Ties”) plays Earl’s daughter; Farmiga (upcoming “The Nun”) plays the role of Earl’s granddaughter; and Serricchio (Netflix’s “Lost in Space,” “The Wedding Ringer”) plays Earl’s cartel handler. Clint Eastwood (“Sully,” “American Sniper”) directs from a screenplay by Nick Schenk (“Gran Torino”). Eastwood also produces the film under his Malpaso banner, along with Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera and Jessica Meier, and Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas. The film’s executive producers are Dave Bernad, Ruben Fleischer and Todd Hoffman. Imperative’s Jillian Apfelbaum will co-produce.

The film will be shooting primarily in Georgia and New Mexico. “The Mule” is a presentation of Warner Bros. Pictures, in Association with Imperative Entertainment. It will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Brilliance in Hollywood that sets the industry standard for excellence has a name.
Clint Eastwood.
Previously on Whom You Know, his work has been applauded in
Jersey Boys:
and the highest-grossing film of 2014, American Sniper:
Unfortunately we were not critics when his other work was released, but we also really love Gran Torino.  It's an honor to review his work; thank you Warner Brothers Pictures.
Here, Eastwood has chosen to show the world the part of the Sully story you do not know yet.
"Anybody who keeps their wits about them when things are going wrong, who can negotiate the problems without panicking, is someone of superior character and interesting to watch on film.  But for me, the real conflict came after, with the investigative board questioning his decisions even though he'd saved so many lives," says Clint Eastwood.
Did you know that at age 21 in the Army, Eastwood himself was a passenger on a Navy plane on the US West Coast that went down?
"It was stormy and we went down off of Point Reyes, California, in the Pacific, and I found myself in the water, swimming a few miles to shore, thinking, 'Well, 21's not as long as a person wants to live.'"
"I'm not an aviator," says Tom Hanks, who plays Sully, "but I know you're not supposed to be able to make a landing like that.  This was a very pragmatic man who understood the realities of what he'd done and what it meant.  He will never say he's a hero, but knowing with confidence that he could make that landing?  That was a heroic thing he did.  And he paid a price for it."
The philosophy of this movie is celebrating the best of humanity (after you get through the red tape) because of the smart choices Captain Sully made personally.  Reality is the best fantasy of all and we love that this is based on Sully's great performance on January 15, 2009 when he saved 155 lives with his team in the Miracle on the Hudson.
The acting was phenomenal all around.  How often have you seen us write that?  Tom Hanks is another standard-setter of course and Aaron Eckhart, though he plays a lesser role is equally striking, nailing all scenes and lines: particularly at the movie close.
Adding the essential human factor, the chemistry between Hanks and Eckhart could not have been better.  Everything behind the scenes like the score, props and costumes are exactly as they should have been to tell the story of three and a half minutes accurately and flawlessly.  There is no weak link anywhere in this movie, and a delay is most certainly better than a disaster.
What you might not know before watching the movie are the horrific legal implications with the regulatory agencies and insurers.  When one lacks altitude, it is not always possible to make it back to an airport with zero engines.
The regulators accurately portrayed in this movie really do not know enough about the immediate situation since they were not there and don't have enough industry knowledge.  Also, 17 practice runs is definitely not the same thing, silly.
The stress they add is tangible and jumps out of the screen; there are quite grave moments of the movie, which is part of the story.  You will find their criticism shocking; his life was not all Letterman shows after the miracle.
As the investigation becomes more in-depth and heated, Sully experiences what many successful people do: over-analyzation and self-doubt, constantly rethinking a fraction of his career that he is now being judged on entirely.
The nightmare dream sequences are absolutely stunning, and if you were also someone that was here in Manhattan on 9/11/01 hearing either plane go in and seeing the towers fall firsthand, you might have these too yourself.  Clint Eastwood really knows how to get in the mind of his characters and paint a true picture.
Many fateful moments are portrayed so well; though we often like to see movies for pure entertainment, the serious nature of this dramatic film will infiltrate your soul for the hour and forty minutes, particularly if you are familiar with the Hudson River.
The casting was spot-on and right down to the stewardesses, everyone was amazingly convincing.  Laura Linney plays a perfect Mrs. Sully and you all should know her from her work with Masterpiece!
The intense phone conversations and the solitary confinement of an unfamiliar hotel room only adds to the fact that Sully must not have been able to think about anything else.
In the end, though this is indeed a miracle on the Hudson we are glad the cause was birds, and not terrorists particularly on this anniversary weekend.
We have met Rita Wilson a couple of times at New York events and she is a genuinely nice person; we bet she is not missing the mustache now....!
We were also glad to see New York Waterway star in Sully; we were on one of those boats for a weekend during America's Cup in New York in May.  Though some of the plane passengers were total characters, the evacuation scene was fascinating; cool under pressure was freezing.   Literally.  You know this happened in January!  And incidentally, we saw this movie last night only a few blocks from where the actual incident took place.
Eastwood has gone ahead and made our day and put someone we know in Sully!
"Delivering my lines in front of Clint Eastwood was more nerve-racking than getting through my first live shot as a rookie reporter," Mover and Shaker Kristine Johnson tells Peachy Deegan. Kristine plays herself as a television journalist; of course we like movies better when we know someone in them just like everything else we do, hence Whom You Know.  Watch for her:
Our aviation expert in Pilot Peachy (not Peachy and not related to Peachy) shares his expert opinion with our readers:
"I was an FAA Air Traffic Controller for 26 years, 7 as a supervisor. I am also a FAA Certified Flight Instructor and have been a pilot for over 50 years and have about 3,000 hours of flight experience.
The NTSB is a separate entity from the FAA and are often at odds with each other.
I read an article tonight about how the NTSB investigators were shown as being the 'bad guys' during the investigation, but they were never consulted on the movie. The lead investigator said that they were relatively easy on Sully as he was considered a hero to the world and concluded that he did very little that might be considered as wrong under the circumstances.
If you go to FlightAware - Flight Tracker / Flight Status / Flight Tracking and scroll down to the bottom, the article may still be there.
As a pilot, flight instructor and former controller, I think that Sully deserved all the praise that has been bestowed upon him and his co-pilot, Jeff Skiles. To react as they did in a very short time period, demonstrated that all of the training flight crews go through on a continuing basis is the reason all aboard the aircraft survived.
I have seen the aircraft in a museum on the Charlotte airport. There is very little damage to the exterior of the aircraft, except the lower, rear fuselage. Of course, the water damage inside makes it not fit to be open to the public."

And what does Sully himself think?
"We invited Sully's participation whenever he was available," Eastwood states.  "He kindly arranged for the simulators and pilots to show Tom and Aaron exactly how it would work.  They got the cram course, but they went to town."
"Beside the fact that they were making a movie, directed by such a gifted storyteller as Clint Eastwood, to then have Tom Hanks playing me...it's a dream team,"says Sullenberger.  "I know Tom is someone who can transform himself, but the first time I saw a long-range shot of him in costume, with his hair colored?  Wow.  It was amazing."

Although you already knew this from the 1980 US Olympic Hockey team, we absolutely believe in miracles and we believe in the huge success of this movie, your first priority this weekend.

Sully is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.

From Oscar-winning director Clint Eastwood (“American Sniper,” “Million Dollar Baby”) comes Warner Bros. Pictures’ drama “Sully,” starring Oscar winner Tom Hanks (“Bridge of Spies,” “Forrest Gump”) as Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger.
On January 15, 2009, the world witnessed the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. However, even as Sully was being heralded by the public and the media for his unprecedented feat of aviation skill, an investigation was unfolding that threatened to destroy his reputation and his career.

“Sully” also stars Aaron Eckhart (“Olympus Has Fallen,” “The Dark Knight”) as Sully’s co-pilot, Jeff Skiles, and Oscar nominee Laura Linney (“The Savages,” “Kinsey,” Showtime’s “The Big C”) as Sully’s wife, Lorrie Sullenberger.
Eastwood is directing the film from a screenplay by Todd Komarnicki, based on the book Highest Duty by Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow. The project is being produced by Eastwood, Frank Marshall, Allyn Stewart and Tim Moore, with Kipp Nelson and Bruce Berman serving as executive producers.

The film reunites Eastwood with several of his longtime collaborators, who most recently worked with the director on the worldwide hit “American Sniper”: director of photography Tom Stern and production designer James J. Murakami, who were both Oscar-nominated for their work on “The Changeling”; costume designer Deborah Hopper; and editor Blu Murray. The music is by Christian Jacob and The Tierney Sutton Band.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Flashlight Films production, a Kennedy/Marshall Company production, a Malpaso production, “Sully.” The film, which opens on September 9, 2016, will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

This film has been rated PG-13 by the MPAA for some peril and brief strong language.
