DAYLIGHT: April 22, 2013 Bite: An Arousal of Your Taste Buds by Baldor a Smashing Success! We Were Delighted to See Our Friends at Fresh Origins, Sunkist and Church Brothers!

When you go to a restaurant there are many components and moving parts working together to culminate in the hopeful excellence of your dinner. The chef does not just snap her/his fingers and voila! dinner...there is a LOT of work that goes into it all. How does the food get to the chef? It certainly doesn't grow on the sunny plains of the Upper East side, where there is hardly room for your shoe collection, never mind space to actually grow something. Baldor Foods is a distributor to many great restaurants in Manhattan, and we love them because they distribute some of our favorite products-they are so smart to distribute Fresh Origins especially. You know we have been singing the praises of Fresh Origins for years now, and here are some of their recent features:

Fresh Origins has some very exciting news that we'll be telling you about soon. Their strategic brainpower is expanding! The California hit parade continued with both Sunkist and Church Brothers...what would we eat without the great sunny state?!

People that wear hats at culinary trade shows need to stick together. Here we met Derek Kampfe, President of Great Northern Cattle Company. We can't wait to work with him as we are total carnivores. Contrary to the understanding of those that answer the phone at restaurants poorly (hint to restaurants: put your phone in a relatively quiet spot, employ people who speak English perfectly, and make sure they speak it well and know what is going on at your venue!), it is not Peachy Vegan-it is PEACHY DEEGAN! Cattle, we can't wait for you to meet our plate.
And last but certainly not least, we do adore excellence from the Greater Hartford area! We were happy to see a brand we know and even happier to drink the chocolate milk. Nice to meet you Peter and we look forward to working with you, too.

2:30pm ORCHARD ISLAND PRESENTS: Molecular Gastronomy & The Mad Scientist, join us for an unforgettable look into the mind of culinary genius of Chef Dave Arnold. During this presentation Dave Arnold will share with the audience many of the outrageous discoveries he has made in his NYC based laboratory. 

4:00pm OCEAN MIST FARMS PRESENTS: Living Legends, Ruth Reichl & DB3. A once in a lifetime opportunity so get to your seats early! You will not want to miss a minute of what is sure to be an hour of pure brilliance. Who knows where the conversation will go when renowned chefs Daniel Boulud, Dan Barber & Danny Bowien are joined on stage by acclaimed food writer and author Ruth Reichl to discuss current events, trends and fun topics in this panel discussion. 

6:00pm DRISCOLL’S BERRIES PRESENTS: Naked Pastry! Need we say more? Find out what’s will happen when rising pastry stars Ghaya Oliveira of Bar Boulud & Dominique Ansel of his namesake bakery located in SoHo are joined by two super-sultry models….

8 PM – midnight
Fifteen of NYC’s top chefs will offer signature tastings, along with wine, beer and cocktails.
