Twins and Owners Mickey and Kiril
Perfectly Medium Rare as ordered Filet Mignon!
Words cannot tell you how bleak and sad the dining life in Manhattan was in 2020, and it started to get better in 2021.  The first bright light at all we saw that was new to us was double: Kiril and Mickey, twins from Macedonia. The original restaurant, The Consulate Upper West Side, was first featured in the summer of 2021:
We loved it so much it easily graduated to Peachy's Picks later that year:
And we last visited in 2022:
They are the only twins we work with and now their restaurants are twice as nice.
Introducing The Consulate Midtown, owned exclusively by these twins Kiril and Metodija Mihajlov!
We loved it EVEN MORE.
Let us count the ways.
We get a kick out of checking out the bathrooms first.
If the bathroom isn't pristine, we are not eating there.
They are perfect at The Consulate Midtown. Also, they are gorgeous.
We began writing in 2009 and we reviewed this exact venue that year when it was called Uncle Jack's Steakhouse.  The place has been completely renovated and it is light, bright and ambient.  Clean, polished and lustrous, The Consulate Midtown is perfect for fine dining.  It has been open since March 24, 2023 and we hope this is their first review.
Note we never edit pictures.  You excel like Kiril and Mickey or we do not publish.
The wine list is typically spectacular, and Kiril and Peachy opened up this gorgeous French red: Chateau Clos Junet Saint-Emilion Grand Cru France: 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 10% Malbec.  Nazdravie!  That is Cheers in Macedonian.  It paired well with every element of our meal and we reveled in both the quality and versatility.
The Raw Bar is the biggest difference in contrast to The Consulate Upper West Side.  We aspire to try all of the unique choices on this raw bar menu section!  We began with the Tuna Tartare, above, with avocado, yuzu and crisp shallots which announced quality in every bite.  Stepping it up in an aesthetically-motivated fashion is the Tartare Trio below.
Life is uncertain.
Eat dessert first: these are all in petite ice cream cones!
We cannot adequately express how much fun it is to eat them in little cones and the tuna, salmon and crab salad are the three musketeers who will light up your life!  For special occasions especially, order this.
Escargot in classic fashion greet you with amazing garlic, parsley butter and crunchy bread to dip in the sauce, and you'll be superlatively satiated.   However, our favorite appetizer had to be the crabcake:
The crisp quality of the outside and the total crabbiness of the inside confirmed it takes one to know one....have you not read Crabby Peachy?  The Consulate Midtown crafts these beauties with lump crab to-die-for and accentuates them gorgeously with strategic dots of sriracha aioli that the savory cake will cannonball into with the assistance of your fork.
We love salad and the Brussels and Kale Salad is truly amazing:
Salad can get quite boring at lesser venues, but at The Consulate Midtown there are four tantalizing choices and we aspire to try the other three.  Here, please meet brilliantly shaved brussels that befriend pecorino and party in kale and green apples.  Creative but not over the top ridiculous, The Consulate Midtown achieves the ideal balance.  Of course they put the dressing on the side for Ms. Uberpicky.  They know her by now.
Executive Chef Alan Vargas and The Consulate Team do tremendous work on everything, but especially the entrees.  The Salmon was grilled to a medium perfection as ordered, and the grilled quality was far superior to its competition.  The 8oz Filet Mignon is unique to this location and if for some reason you think you are vegan, this would convert you to the carnivorous endeavors that make life great!  It was ideally medium rare and we reveled in the talents of The Consulate Midtown.  In addition to obviously the power duo of Kiril and Mickey who are totally down-to-earth and friendly, Marko, Renato, Javier Patricio and Alvaro added to the quality of our visit.
If you don't think vegetables are exciting, you are eating the wrong ones.
From Creamed Spinach above to the Brussel Sprouts with Bacon below, the noteworthy sides at The Consulate Midtown are terrifically impressive with both their freshness and their flavor.  They really are this bursting with green, favorite color of Peachy.  And, if you are new you should know we never edit pictures.  This is the truth and if your truth doesn't look this fantastic, you know where to go.
They say SMILE, and the world smiles with you.
We love the signature lights-such a classy touch, and apple pie a la mode never goes out of style and is always the right answer for dessert.  Our expectations were exceeded and we can't wait to see what they do next!  Double your fun and go see the twins on the double!!!
Peachy Picks The Consulate Midtown.
The Consulate Midtown is Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.
