#SensationalSalad #SalumeriaBiellese @SalumeriaBNYC #SalumeriaDeli Since 1925 by #NancyFiorioAlSharif #FouadAlsharif and #MarcBuzzio #378 Eighth Ave #Manhattan at 29th Street

Superstar Owner Fouad Alsharif Shows You at age 101, Salumeria Biellese is in it to win it with the superlative Salmon Salad!
Salumeria Biellese might have the oldest history in this column, but they are making their debut in Sensational Salads with the freshest salads near Madison Square Garden!  If you have met her, you know that Peachy demonstrates a shocking resemblance to shrimp with her towering height, and what is better than being as tall as a shrimp? Of course, eating them on your salad!  Delivered twice a week, the shrimp are grilled perfectly and rest on mixed greens adding protein in the most delicious way.  They put the house dressing on the side for the resident Ms. Superpicky and hospitality is guaranteed here!  We can reveal their secret to the House dressing is vinaigrette, olive oil, dijon mustard, anchovies, chives, and lemon juice.  The Grilled Salmon Salad, Fouad's favorite, might be our favorite too this visit.  It was the first salad that magically disappeared in entirety, and actions speak louder than words, readers.  A gorgeous slice of Grilled Salmon is a revelation in flavor with just the right dusting of black pepper, with lemon vinaigrette, of course on the side as she asked.
Grilled Chicken Caesar is a commanding classic and avid readers know that Peachy only likes Caesar Salads dressed.  A whole breast of chicken comes to the party and like the other salads we've mentioned so far, it is a complete meal.  Salumeria Biellese sets the standard for Prosciutto, so this salad may be the greatest professional triumph.  THEY MAKE THEIR OWN.  Yes, Salumeria Biellese is not only one of the most spectacular delis in town only for 101 years, but also it produces and originates meats starting from the original owners Piedmont origins in Italy. When they came to New York in 1925, they customized on a proprietary basis meats for other restaurants, which they still do to this day as we showed you earlier this year at the amazing show BALDOR BITE, and Sirio Maccioni of Le Cirque is among the notable clients they have had.  This exact prosciutto today is made in Hackensack, New Jersey and is finished with molasses, adding just the right sweetness. The Prosciutto and Mozzarella salad (Mozzarella is made fresh on premises) is with mixed greens.  So if you are a restaurant that wants to customize your meat, call our friend Fouad.
The Mixed Salad, above, is a perfect side salad of simplicity with mixed greens and carrots, and the Biricchino Salad, below, boasts Mesclun mixed greens, ripe tomatoes, shredded carrots, red onions and shaved Parmigiano Reggiano. Of course, Biricchino is also a Peachy's Pick and to even be in this column, you must be and you must demonstrate a high salad aptitude. (They have the most smashing homepage too!)
Of course, Peachy cannot visit Salumeria Biellese and ignore the sandwiches.
No one can live on salad alone and if you are, you are not living your best life.
The Italian Combo is one of the very best in the city, and certainly no one else we know of has their own vertical meat business to supply themselves with the utmost freshness.  Capicola, salami and provolone are a trifecta of victory and that alone would be a hat trick to a normal person but Peachy wanted Mozzarella too and we think that makes it even more spectacular, and Ham and Cheese is absolutely a sophisticated revelation here with the perfectly pink succulent slices of ham paired with the house-crafted mozzarella!  Everything of course is made to order.
Words do not begin to approach the total majesty of Chicken Valdostana.
We didn't even know what it was until we started eating it here.  Sherry wine sauce with fontina cheese and cream captures chicken in a succulent flavor of moist luxury that tantalizes your tastebuds and every time you eat it again you will think it gets better and better.  You have to have this sandwich.
Peachy heard hers singing in Times Square afterwards:
And find I'm king of the hill, top of the list, you bet
And I'm the right, king of the heap
Salumeria Biellese continues to be Highly Recommended by Whom You Know, especially for salads!

#SensationalSalad @MansionNYC The Mansion Restaurant Since 1945 by Owner Phil Philips #1634YorkAvenue at East 86th Street #UpperEastSide A Peachy's Pick Since 2026

It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Phil Philips and his masterpiece of a spot: The Mansion Restaurant! We were thrilled to announce in February that they joined the ranks of Peachy's Picks because they are among the best of the best, and what do the best do?
They get better!
Our newest culinary column is SENSATIONAL SALAD, and this is The Mansion's first feature in this column, although with around 40 salad and platter choices in total, we surmise this is only the beginning of the hit parade.  Very few venues have this much of a competitive salad selection and even fewer have such consistent high quality.
So, how did they get better?
The brand new salad, drumroll please:
It's watercress, endive, green granny smith apples, walnuts and dried cranberries all waltzing wonderfully in a light vinaigrette that is just the right touch.  It was an incredible combination and dazzling to discover on a fork with all its flavorful brilliance.
Note all pictures are unedited and the truth is, all of the salad here are an amazing beacon of color and nutrition.
If you think it is too hot to eat, think again and turn to SALAD!!!!
The Broiled Salmon Salad on mixed greens is embodies the essence of the sea in Salmon, and a high quality, generous size it is too at 10 ounces!  Lesser places serve a sliver of fish but this gorgeous poisson announces summer is almost here and The Mansion Restaurant is in it to win it with their superior salad selections.  Nicoise Salad pays proper homage to Nice, France and this edition is the height of style on York Avenue, which really is not so different from the South of France.  An individual can of tuna parties with capers, tomatoes, black olives, green beans (Peachy's favorite vegetable) and hard-boiled egg.  A formidable combination, the verdict is this is the edible embodiment of a sophisticated vacation on a plate, minus the surf, sand and sun.  But the sun always shines on The Mansion Restaurant!
All salads are made fresh, and all are made to order.
The egg salad and respective tuna and chicken salads are made fresh every day in their entirety and at The Mansion Restaurant, they only use Hellmann's mayonnaise which we totally agree with as you will see it in Peachy's refrigerator.  Also, avid readers know that Peachy always likes salad dressing on the side.  She loves The Mansion Restaurant even more because all but the first salad of Watercress and Endive come not dressed!  They always let you dress your own salad in all other occasions aside from Watercress and Endive.  Peachy's salad dressing philosophy is not only embraced here but practiced in the first place.
The Egg Salad on a bed of lettuce with lovely halved juicy grape tomatoes and black olives and green bell pepper are further accentuated with sublimely sliced red onion, giving it just the right panache.  You may be surprised to see Peachy ordering cottage cheese because she hasn't featured it before: that is for the direct reason that no one else uses cottage cheese as amazingly flavorful and creamy as The Mansion Restaurant does: the cottage cheese is delivered fresh daily.  Bartlett Dairy is the sole purveyor of all dairy products to The Mansion Restaurant, and they are also the purveyor to all of the Starbucks in New York City.
Quite frankly Peachy has never had better cottage cheese in her entire life and we wish we started ordering it at our first visit here because it ups their game on every dish they use it.
In all salad cases here, the vegetables are well-cut and intelligently fork-sized so you can delicately devour the respective masterpieces with minimal cutting effort and maximal flavor enjoyment.
The protein incorporated into so many of these salad options make salads a terrific meal.
Next in the batting order, please meet the Chicken Cobb Salad, a total home run!
The chicken itself is marinated in a proprietary method that really ups the flavor quality.  It is joined by lettuce, avocado, bleu cheese, bacon, tomato, cucumbers, onion and hard-boiled egg to round out the tantalizing delight.
The Mansion Restaurant is famous for their burgers, and Slim Line Burger is an absolutely divine medium rare as ordered-you can see for yourself as Peachy cut it to show you.  Of course, every burger is made to order and grilled exactly as you want it.  Ottomanelli grinds the ground chuck the old fashioned way; it's chopped fresh every day and this extra effort elevates the whole quality experience for you.  The Slim Line Burger salad is rounded out by the aforementioned dreamy creamy cottage cheese with lettuce and tomato.
Finally, Frankie Valli this one's for you: The Four Seasons Salad, with light Tuna!  Again, it is a lovely balance of the light tuna with the superstar Hellmann's mayonnaise in perfect proportion and entirely fabulously fresh. Mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumbers (and note they always cut out the middle of cucumbers), peppers, onions, olives all rejoice and welcome you with festive flair.
Another insider secret we are honored to reveal is the unveiling of the Original Mexican Recipe Gazpacho!  Tomato, Onion, Green Bell Pepper and Corn combine for a fragrant, authentic cold summery soup that is crafted on premises daily, and we believe it is the perfect companion to whatever you might eat at The Mansion Restaurant.
Finally, the latest and greatest drink is the Junior's Cream Beer from Brooklyn, and Peachy tried the amazing Cream Ale and we can assure you, it hit the spot!!
Peachy was so nutritionally angelic with all of the salad she could not ignore the brand new Junior's beer line that graced her presence!  We are all about moderation.

#SensationalSalad #PeachysPicks A Peachy's Pick Since 2013 Their First Feature in Sensational Salad #SkylightDiner by #GeorgePapaioannou and #TeddyPapaioannou Since 1996 @SkylightDinerNY 402 West 34th Street at 9th Avenue Manhattan

They will build it if you come says Peachy Deegan!
The Field of Dreams Salad at Skylight Diner, and Teddy says don't miss the wow factor of the Nutella French Toast:
It's not who you know, it's WHOM YOU KNOW and we know Skylight Diner, a Peachy's Pick since 2013.  On page one of their extensive menu is "Great Greens" which is your first clue that they are also into salads!  We count fourteen serious salads to choose from and there are five protein choices to add if you choose to: Grilled Chicken, Gyro Meat, Salmon, Steak and Grilled Shrimp, the quantity of which is among the most competitive, and of course we know the quality is high after writing about them for a dozen years.  Some places don't have enough protein choices but the possibilities here are great!
Mounds of Fresh Spinach Leaves are Topped with Crisp, Crumbled Bacon, Sliced Egg, Tomato, tremendously flavorful Marinated Artichoke Hearts, and Mushrooms finished with Seasoned Croutons.
In all cases except the Caesar which Peachy wanted dressed, they listened and put the dressing on the side for Ms. Uberpicky and you can see the bottle of balsamic that graced this review in the background.
Peachy says they will build it if you come.
This really shows their creativity and commitment to quality: Organic Field Greens, excellent Fresh Strawberries (so wonderful in season now), Walnuts and Feta comprise this salad and Peachy chose to add skirt steak which brought the taste levels to the upper echelons.  We never thought of the strawberry and steak combination before but you should know it's quite remarkable.
They absolutely know what they are doing here and there's the steak, perfectly medium rare as ordered.
Note that all of these salads we are telling you about today would measure up to a meal on a standalone basis.  Quite hearty and full of spectacular freshness, they are testament to the second-generation that runs Skylight today: brothers Teddy and George Papaioannou.  Peachy chitchatted with Teddy on the phone while she was there and worked in person with six-year veteran Janet Vazquez who is a total peach and was totally on the ball with a sincere smile.
Above, please meet the Cobb Salad: Grilled Chicken Breast which we found exceptionally moist to perfection (we abhor chicken that is not fresh and moist), Avocado, Bacon, Cucumber, Corn and really terrific Bermuda Onions well-cut over seasonal greens.
The Protein Salad, below, is really of excellent nutrition we believe (Peachy is not a doctor and we make no medical claims): Mixed Greens with Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Onions, Red Kidney Beans, Walnuts, Chickpeas and Hard Boiled Egg.  It is a superb idea and the ingredients are in perfect proportion to each other: we chose to add Salmon to it which gave it tremendous flavor.  The Salmon was grilled perfectly medium.
Caesar Salad is a classic that should be on all menus and it's close to the top here.  Romaine Lettuce, Grated Cheese and Croutons beautifully bask in their own homemade dressing of Parmesan Cheese, Olive Oil, Black Pepper, Garlic Powder, Mustard, Raw Egg, Anchovies and Mayo!  Peachy chose to add Grilled Shrimp and this is the perfect base to add any of the proteins that Skylight offers.
Finally, for our francophiles reading like Peachy herself, we close this with the firework of a salad: Norwegian Salmon Nicoise.  Grilled Fresh Norwegian Salmon majestically perches over Fresh Greens, New Potatoes, Green Beans which we really loved, Kalamata Olives and Hard Boiled Egg.
Note the pictures are totally unedited and the truth is Teddy and George are truly excellent.
Nutella French Toast is a fresh, sweet combination that is presented in all its celebratory chocolate banana glory over the fresh, fluffy premium French Toast that will really wow you!  This might be the anti-salad but it is good to have fun in life and enjoy yourself!  Also, Peachy has a pronounced affinity for Bacon, Egg and Cheese and the possibilities are endless at Skylight Diner and to that end, with all of the choices you can get exactly what your little heart desires.  Peachy chose two fried eggs with munster cheese and terrific crisp bacon which yielded total perfection and this might be the best one we've had this summer.

Skylight Diner continues to be Highly Recommended by Whom You Know.
